I think she’s in jail for the plot against Howard, and she probably took the fall for it so Jimmy could stay out on the street. This will result in Kim getting released, and Jimmy goes to jail for the rest of his life but is satisfied knowing that he made one final sacrifice for Kim and doesn’t have to live in fear of being caught anymore.

Personally, I think his tone of voice is somewhere between depression and envy. Mike's job is gritty and grim, a life filled with a gangster's errands that constantly has him looking over his shoulder for either the police, or the warring factions of the underworld he's sunk back into. But, he's also mourning Nacho here, the young man who got himself into a mess he didn't understand, like his son. I think up until that moment, he was managing the gangster's life well, but the final, "I was" shows the regret. Contrast that with Jimmy and Kim's life - lovers with somewhat cushy careers, running what Mike at this point would call a "game" on the side before he finds out the scope of their meddling mess. In a way, I think Mike would swap his position with hers in a heartbeat at this moment. He just sounded exhausted, dragging himself along the road he's chose because there's nothing more for him to do.

Great subtle acting. Kim's body language is an open book to Mike. And when she spits out "I DO know you!", I think Mike was slightly annoyed by it, not because she knows him, but her approach to deal with such situation. He knows she does shady things with Jimmy and both are smart, but her "I DO know you!" move was just stupid, considering she has no clue with whom she's dealing with (cartell henchman). Such line could make the difference between stay alive or end up in the desert. Mike is just fed up with civilians who set a food into criminal territory, but don't know how do behave infront of bad guys. Well, Mike is the most low key character in this series.

Looking at this scene in hindsight, Mike made a huge mistake, the same mistake that everyone else did (including us) by trusting in Kimmy more than Jimmy. He thought that Kimmy is braver and will handle the Lalo situation better than Jimmy (because he heard about what happened when Lalo visited their apartment for the first time) while Jimmy is an emotional trainwreck coward who won’t handle the cartel things really well (because of their experience in the desert) when in reality, things turned out to be the opposite. Kimmy was so caught up with the con against Howard so much that she took ZERO precautions to Lalo’s return and she chose not to tell Jimmy about this because not only Jimmy will freak out, but Jimmy will also stop the con on Howard and put saving themselves from Lalo as first priority. Kimmy didn’t want any of that. She wanted the con to come to fruition and now we all know what happened. Now we all know that the consequences escalated big time. Mike’s distrust on Jimmy will also be his biggest mistake in the future, because not trusting Jimmy causing Mike to hire someone else to take care of his money. With a little threat from the DEA, that lawyer ended up ratting on Mike which led to a series of events ending with Mike’s death without giving a single penny to his family.

Kim took a risk of getting at Howard even though she knew the risks of Lalo still being out there. Yeah, she was told that he most likely wouldn't go after them, but it still caused Howard his life. She has blood on her hands, and she could have been rational if she wasn't so stuck up in becoming more like Jimmy.

Howard's death was 100% Lalo being psycho. Even if she was a fortune teller, Kim couldn't have predicted Lalo showing up given what she knew.

Now I think it's more of a philosophical question wheter you consider that to be their fault or not, but I believe it is, in a way; still, they were responsible for starting the chain of events that led to these catastrophic events.

@@joahqin I don't think they hold fault, just because you're involved in a series of events that lead up to an incident, doesn't mean you hold fault, fault would mean that you knew what you were doing would have negative consequences, or at least you should have seen how your actions would have had those consequences, in both cases neither Kim nor Walt could have realistically predicted the outcome of their action. Both the fact that the planes crashed, and that Lalo and Howard would have shown up simultaneously were complete coincidences outside of boths control. Walt didn't know the father was an air traffic control planner and Kim assumed logically from the information she was given that Lalo was dead (even if he wasn't). While you're correct in saying they were part of the reason for the tragedies it would be very unfair to assign them any fault.
