Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in the world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.
Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

Jokes aside, Lyle is probably one of the most morally pure people in the Breaking Bad universe. We don't see a lot of him, but in the moments we do, we see a young, cordial and hardworking member of society just trying to get a start in the world. He doesn't even protest to basically getting a tighter schedule upon Gus informing that he won't be in for the whole week, and instead chooses to express his condolences and worries instead.

Even the way Lyle is humming the store's song to himself early in the dead of morning when most people would be annoyed or exhausted, he takes on a large amount of responsibility with zero protest and even asks if Gus needs a ride to the airport. The actor who played Lyle was so perfectly convincing. It's hard to imagine in real life that's he's not some passive nerd working 16 hours a day for $5/hour. Makes me wonder, how he got the role. Maybe the director walked into a chicken shop one day and saw him and thought.......damn, that's exactly who I'm looking for.

I think Gus treated his employees very well and also did pay them pretty well too. That’s really all it takes. Be a leader, not a boss. Gus was a leader in his normal side of his life. He cleaned, tended to the customers, took orders, made food, etc. Being on the frontline with your employees really does make them like you better. So I think Lyle was probably fine with doing him that favor. He’ll probably get a nice bonus too. The show did a great job of showing Gus’s work ethic toward his employees.

all of us in HS worked in some kind of fast food and usually with the same team we knew at HS. It was fun, our first jobs, and we lived at home in the sixties/seventies. My bros. never regretted and remembered fondly. We never thought we were underpaid, and being from a farm background hard work was expected, and delivered without question. It was only as adults (including my grandfathers' memoirs) that we found some co=workers could be real problem people and asshats and gamers for little gain.
