Seriously on what planet is a 100 Million dollar opening not considered excellent even for an MCU movie - that’s just a flat out untruth! Looking at the MCU and opening weekends for new movie franchises and u will see that YES 100M is great and better than most. It’s only sequels and Avengers movies that aim well beyond that figure. Although Cap is sequel it’s acting like Cap 1 since it’s basically a brand new Cap. It’s annoying if the goal post are moved ahead for MCU. U can’t say it’s great for every studio but not for marvel . If they are only compared to their peak than they will always fail in ur eyes!

Other DC shows slated to come out this year, though have yet to have official release dates, include: The Sandman S2 My Adventures With Superman S3 Batman Caped Crusader S2 Bat-Family S1 There is also Teen Titans Go and Batwheels on the kids front, though I doubt that would get call outs, and there is also the potential for a season 2 for the Kite-Man show as well.

I can say that I am equally excited for F4/Superman, with F4 slightly edging it out. I showed my girlfriend (who has seen all the MCU movies, and only the Loki seasons) the Superman trailer, and she immediately - begrudgingly - asked: “Okay, what do I need to watch before this?” I told her that she wouldn’t have to see anything, and I’m banking on that, because - for her - seeing all the heroes in the trailer made her feel immediately outside. I tell her to trust me, but I REALLY think she’ll be coming into it with the wrong mindset, and I don’t want her to have that in place.

Gunn has to be keeping some cards close to his chest. Possibly even having scripts handed in that he is all in on, just waiting for the right moment to lock it in before it's leaked/announced. Obviously has to see how Superman performs first. But I feel like the biggest thing that's already locked in that he's not putting out there, at least until post-July is Alan Ritchson as Batman. @@yashJoshi-hn6bf Yeah but that was an exceptionally bad year for the MCU...they also produced their worst-rated tv show that year (Secret Invasion) but 2021 and 2022 were still very profitable for Marvel and the movies were either mid (Thor, Eternals, Black Widow) or good (Shang Chi, Spider Man 3). The studio is still in good standing, being that their movie release (Deadpool and Wolverine), television series (Agatha All Along) and animation series (X Men 97) all were either commercially successfully or critically well-received.

Batman’s media is not even big anymore. Batman loses to Superman in animation and TV particularly TV. All Batman had in live action TV was Gotham and the Penguin. This new movie could potentially be the one that finally breaks through by being the introduction to essentially the live action version of the original DCAU, but only time will tell

So I get that this could be a ‘no-no’ negative thing to bring up on shows like this/channels like this but..as with some other previous years, I firmly feel the quantity of MCU projects jammed into one year is a staunch negative working against them (3 movies in about 5 months, 6 shows in a year where it should be just DD & Iron heart..) The quality of each thing will be most important of course but this just objectively undeniably adds to the fatigue from the whole genre. I think Marvel is relying on concepts to sell their stories in a connected universe which makes it hard to root for the film. Like I can’t at all say I’m excited for F4 cause I genuinely haven’t seen any of the actors in character yet. I think James Gunn on the other hand is relying on the stories and the finished projects to prove concepts and for that reason I’m far more excited for Superman and Peacemaker than any of the Marvel titles. If the only two comic book movies showing this year were Superman and Fantastic Four and I only had enough money to see one, I would go for the FF movie. The reason being, we just had Superman on television and it was great and I enjoyed it. I wouldn't be that excited to see a new Superman film. But that's just me, I'm not a huge Superman fan and I've never been a loyal DC fan the way I was with Marvel. So maybe Superman fans will feel differently. The Fantastic Four movie is going to be about more than just the four heroes, it's literally going to set the direction and tone of the MCU for the future. It will be the precursor of bigger things, not just Doomsday and Secret Wars, but the reshaping of the Marvel Universe. This will be the event that begins the process of bringing the entire Marvel Comics family together. For the first time, we'll get to see Spiderman and the Human Torch taking jabs at each other on the big screen! The future of Marvel films will begin to look like the Silver Age of Marvel Comics! So, yeah. While I hope Superman does well, I think the Fantastic Four movie will do better.

Marvel have to field 3 movies in the frantic runup to the next avengers. DC only need 1 to compete, and I think Superman will be praised for being a fresh, optimistic take that may very well cross the billion mark. Cap 4 is gonna get decimated by the post election court of public opinion and the 99 reshoots. It will paint the narrative that the mcu has gone back to it's phase 4 ways after a year off with Deadpool, and the fallout could likely damage Thunderbolts as well. Nothing from F4 has been really shown yet so thats an unknown (it could be good)

i think i either am more excited for captain america brave new world because it presents progression in the overall mcu storyline as opposed to an encapsulated story that doesn't affect other movies or for thunderbolts because it has florence pugh , pew pew
