DeepSeek still continues to dominate the news, and corporate media is scrambling to undermine Chinese tech, resurrecting the usual anti-China racist tropes. On this week’s episode, Amanda talks to Charles Xu of Qiao Collective about these media attacks, as well as what moves Washington has made in the two weeks since its release to try and protect the Big Tech monopolies.
Our understanding of China - and U.S.-China relations - has become a defining feature of all global politics. The China Report is a new show produced in collaboration with Pivot to Peace where every week, journalist Amanda Yee and political analyst KJ Noh will be helping you through all the propaganda with an independent view of the country we are taught to hate, but know so little about.

Shame on you, US, for the lousy reactions to DeepSeek who played on your terms. Remember, what’s goes up have to come down after they lose the motions. Learn to be a good losers and compete as it is not the end and, you don’t have to stood so low to win with bullying tactics. Why others can live with the greatest regardless of where they’re from? Okay, so the user provided a previous analysis of various political and technological issues involving Dutch politicians, AI tools like DeepSeek, and mentions of US-China relations. Now, they're asking for my thoughts on a specific quote from "The China Report" that criticizes Western media's portrayal of Chinese tech, particularly DeepSeek, as part of anti-China rhetoric and protection of Big Tech monopolies. First, I need to parse the quote. The main points are: 1. DeepSeek is dominating the news, and corporate media is using anti-China racist tropes to undermine it. 2. The US is taking steps to protect Big Tech monopolies post-DeepSeek's release. 3. Understanding China and US-China relations is crucial for global politics. 4. The China Report aims to provide an independent view countering propaganda. The user wants my analysis (TH1NK) on this perspective. Let's break it down. 1. **Media Narratives and Bias**: The quote accuses Western media of biased reporting against Chinese tech. I need to consider if there's validity here. Examples like Huawei, TikTok bans could support this. However, are there legitimate security concerns? How to differentiate between valid criticism and xenophobic tropes? 2. **Big Tech Monopolies**: The US protecting companies like Google, Facebook. DeepSeek being open-source and local challenges these monopolies. How does the US government's action affect competition? Is there a pattern of stifling foreign competition under the guise of national security? 3. **Geopolitical Context**: US-China tech war is a real thing. Trade restrictions, semiconductor bans, etc. How does DeepSeek fit into this? If it's a strong AI competitor, US might feel threatened. But China's own tech policies (Great Firewall, data laws) also play a role. 4. **Independent Media Perspective**: The China Report claims to offer an independent view. Need to assess if their critique is balanced or if they have their own biases. Are they downplaying legitimate issues with Chinese tech (e.g., state surveillance, IP theft)? 5. **Impact on Global Politics**: The user mentions that understanding China is key. How does media portrayal affect public opinion and policy? If Western media is biased, it could lead to misinformed policies, escalating tensions. Conversely, uncritical acceptance of Chinese tech could ignore real concerns.

The quality of Chinese products is competitive at every price range; otherwise, the products simply couldn't survive the market. As a result, when people choose to buy cheap, people shouldn't then be allowed to project their own cheapness on to the Chinese. Moreover, seeing what the Chinese can do, the "free world" is now actively trying to prevent China from making high quality products because "democracy", the bloodiest religion of the 21st century, demands it. The dictatorship that is the "free world" demands it. The manifestos of the New Cold War have said repeatedly: the goal is to turn China into a big Singapore, neutered and subservient to the "free world". Where exactly is the freedom in that? So godspeed to the Chinese, its "authoritarian" government, and the "dictatorial" Chinese Communists.

Funny how the human rights issue keeps popping up, while it is not even correct. Per capita, so per inhabitant of the USA versus China, the USA scores way worse regarding human rights violations. Not to mention the fact that they're somehow disregarding the US sponsored, funded, provoked, instigated human rights violations by israel, and by Ukraine, which are on a scale not even approached by ANY Asian nation in history. Even the worst 'human rights violations' people blame China on do not even come near the ones perpetrated by the US in the recent 4 decades. Let’s do a simple comparison everybody can understand: Population of USA: 338 million, imprisoned: 2100k = 0.62% in jail. Population of Russia: 144 million, imprisoned: 472k = 0.33% in jail. Population of China: 1425 million, imprisoned: 1690k = 0.0011% in jail. But even bringing that up seems hopeless in the way stupidity rules over the US government. It's a clown show, pretty much. The first thing they bring up against that is that somehow China does not report its prisoners, or that China tortures its prisoners (so most of them die so soon that the count remains low), it's truly disgusting how they keep twisting the facts in their favor. Just an FYI: In 2023 more police-officers have arrested and shot 'suspects' in the USA than in the whole of China. Consider the scale of that comparison, with 1.4 billion humans in China, the US with its 340 million is scoring higher with that! What a 'free' country the US must be, NOT..

The US-China tech rivalry is part of a larger geopolitical struggle for dominance in the 21st century. Technology is seen as a key determinant of economic and military power, and both nations are vying for leadership in emerging fields like AI, quantum computing, and clean energy. The US views China's technological rise as a potential threat to its global leadership and national security. Conversely, China sees US restrictions as an attempt to stifle its development and maintain American hegemony.

Yeah, I really don't see how a.i. is supposed to revolutionize the way in which we live. If companies and governments have all of this money to invest into artificial intelligence that is supposed to improve our lives, then why don't they invest the money into programs for humans that can achieve the same goal(s).
