I think it bother me less feeding in public with perfect strangers than people I actually know . Because stranger are busy ,they most likely not paying attention at all to what you are doing and they just move on with their life, if you just cover yourself a little. But exemple of MIL who come sit right next to you and grab your shoulder and is just starring at you the whole time even if you have a cover on and keep saying over and over" Aw these little noise of baby sucking blablblabla "... IT irritates me so much I don't know why 😲

Great video. Normalising breastfeeding is such a wonderful thing to do. I've been feeding for a combined total of 43 months over my two kids and never had a single glance or comment that was negative (that I noticed). I'm definitely someone who just gets on with it, but some mums don't have that same confidence so this will really help them out

Big up Emily. I loved this vlog. Topic is so close to my heart. I have been told by an ignorant security guard that I'm not allowed to feed my baby in that mall but by then my boy was 4 months and I was no longer nervous about it so I gave him a piece of my mind and complained to the center management. I'm in South Africa and we also r legally allowed to breastfeed in public.

Confidence is definitely the key, you're right, flashing a smile always works! The breastfeeding vests and tops at H&M are great & fairly inexpensive =) We recently got home from our hols & I was surprised to find that my husband snapped lots of photos of me breastfeeding our daughter in all sorts of weird and wonderful places! He says he's proud of me for sticking at it after struggling with tongue tie & ending up combination feeding due to low supply - I definitely get confused looks when I breastfeed before whipping out a bottle of formula!

I had my baby at 17 and decided to stick with breastfeeding, I live in LA California where people walk around with their boobs out but breastfeeding gets a lot of stares 🤔 luckily all my family was very supportive and nobody ever approached me to tell me anything. Many stared or looked uncomfortable but when you have a hungry baby nothing else should matter ❤️

Exactlyyyy the baby is priority not the other people even if is family or closer ones(should be more empath!)and also dirty looks are pervert even from old woman who only think the dirty in the world and reproducing the punnishment to moms instead to the dirty porn based society. Im so tired to see how babies pays the consecuences of moms focused at the marketing;at others looks;fashion and style instead of psicoemotional neurocognitive consecuences in adulthood to their own baby(and its a problem for the future of all!!). Stay strong moms of the world and do it for your baby and for all of human kin🌏🤰🥺💗

I disagree. you don't need to be covered to be respectful. boobs are meant for feeding. if a Mom. forgot a blanket and needed to feed her baby and had nothing g to cover with she should not feel bad or nervous or stressed. other people need to mind their own businesses and if they don't like it don't look. love ya but definitely disagree on that point!!!

I am NOT going to torture and punish my Little baby because others are ignorant. I honestly don't care what uneducated people have to say about it. I am extremely conservative and go to great lengths to make sure we are covered in every way. OUR God designed us all in the perfect way. It's Natural and not man made. You can control what your baby gets that is healthy. I support breastfeeding because you are helping their immune systems have a fighting chance to not be sickly with allergies etc. Hugs to you all❣💌🚼💗

@@SegmentswithSammy it's not necessarily "disrespectful" if someone is not covered to you liking. You always have the option to look elsewhere. The person is just feeding their baby. They can be exposed if they want. Its honestly none of your business.

In my culture women just openly breastfeed their babies because they have some superstitious beliefs about covering them (they'll get sick or die or something like that) but they embrace breastfeeding so much that if you're at your in law's house and your baby starts crying, your father in law will hand you the baby and tell you to feed him 😓😓😖 I love that they're feeding their babies, it's better than starving them and I believe that as long as they are doing their best they're doing more than enough

Yes!!! Love this video! Be confident & proud that you are able to nourish your baby in the most natural way possible! I have 4 kids and I've always had problems with breastfeeding, except with my 4th (who is 4 months right now and I'm breastfeeding while watching the video) and it was extremely daunting to go out in public to nurse. One tip that I would recommend is to practice at home with the blanket/muslin/scarf or whatever cover-up you plan on using so that you're not fumbling with it for the first time in public. Practice doing it at the dinner table, in the living room, and any other room to get a sense of different chairs, different spaces, etc. and practice on both breasts. You'd be surprised to see how uncoordinated you can be with your non-dominant hand! LOL I practiced in front of a mirror as well to see what I was doing and what other people could see. That definitely helped. Then you just have to go out there and do it! Well done, Emily! Loved the video!

I don't understand why some people find breastfeeding a baby objectionable. My daughter-in-law's attitude with her baby is to pay no attention to who might be watching. She showed me a cartoon featuring a useful blanket for when people nearby didn't like the sight of a baby being fed. The mother in the cartoon threw the blanket over the watchers. I once saw in Israel a mother using a nursing blanket with a metal hoop at the top so that the baby wasn't completely smothered and could still make eye contact with the mother.

This was super helpful! Just had my second baby and it's my first time nursing. This weekend really showed me how un-nursing friendly places are here in the US. It was so stressful!! This helped though so thank you❤️☺️

It is so hard for me to cover up and also see so my baby can get a good latch. I'm unable to just latch her "blind." Do you have any recommendations for latching without looking? Because if I look, my whole boob ends up being out! I'm just afraid that people will see my entire boob even for a second.

Is your baby young? They will get the hang of it so hopefully this won't be a problem. Thank you so much for watching xx

Leslie Obholz You can buy breastfeeding covers that have an 'opening' in the top that allow you to see your baby and get them to latch without exposing your whole breast. I found them really useful in the early days. They are shaped like an apron that goes over your head with a piece of 'boning' in the top. All the best

Thank you so much for posting this. I have a 1 month old daughter and I get so nervous about strangers seeing my boobs in public!! This makes me feel more confident!!

Great tips. I remember when I nursed my babies , the first was hard and took like 3 mos to get the hang of it. After that it was so easy. My second was a breeze. Great job! You're doing great!!!!

Up to how many months do you breastfeed your babies? Can you please give some tips on how do you stop breastfeeding your kids. Thank you! 😊

I know you cannot ask a breastfeeding mom to leave a public place when she's feeding, but are people allowed to ask you to cover up?

Have you ever had to pump in public? I will have to do that in a few weeks and I’ve never done that before. Any suggestions? My only thought was to pump in my car. I have a double electric pump.

So funny, when you came to talking about people staring you said "flash them a..." And I fully expected you to say breast 😂 but you said smile instead and I laughed out loud. Here in the U.S. "flash" means show 'em the goods. I did not expect to get comedy when I clicked your video today so thanks for that 😁

Still haven't managed to muster up the courage to feed in public yet, though I did at the pub once. Stupidly we thought sitting at the back would be less noticeable and ended up right by the toilets! Cue all the beer bellies men walking past having a good old nosy but I've fed in lots of changing rooms! Best idea ever! Also where did you get your nursing tops from! Especially the baby pink one and the navy blue? They're gorgeous! xx

Thank you so much for this video Emily! I've only just started to gain confidence in breastfeeding in public (I used to being expressed milk in a bottle to warm up but one day my son decided that wouldn't be enough so I had to do what I had to do 😂). It's good to know that it's illegal to discriminate against a breastfeeding mother - I had a look and it is also illegal in New Zealand where I live so I feel confident now if anyone ever tries to challenge me about it! Although I have never had any negative feedback from anyone about it 😊 love your videos so much as a new mum to a 12 week old! Really helped as my family are still back in the UK so I needed the support! Xxxx

Awesome video! Im not even pregnant and nervous. I live in the u.s. and I know most people don't care but sometime crazy stuff happens and it's so frustrating to me! It's just boobs and a baby eating!

Why wud they have to cover up? If anyone would say anything to my wife in public I wud break their face. BTW she never had anyone say anything or look bad

I agree with covering your breasts while breastfeeding, not bc it's vulgar but because it might be more comfortable for the mom. Some people would stare and some would even put on disapproving face, and these would make the mom uncomfortable. Better avoid these situations.

I have another question which bothers me. If I go to a public toilet - where do I keep my baby ? I cant imagine leaving him in stroller just outside the door of public toilet (cabine) cause so many cases in my country when some mental people just kidnap babies from strollers... And obviously I cant taky the whole stroller (no space inside even for me) or baby himself with me (I will need free hands to do the job). Any tips ?

I am pro breastfeeding moms. All the way. I'm having my third baby and plan on it again. But that being said. We had a guest from Argentina stay with us years ago. And it was thanksgiving. We were all eating at the table and this lady whips her boob out for all to see (my husband included) and just feeds her baby. It made me very uncomfortable. And him as well. I even gave her my nursing cover, in the nicest way and let her know that here it's best to cover up. She kept it. And never used it.

was actually also watching this while breastfeeding. I actually bought formula milk to give an emergency bottle when in public. but I feel so motivated after watching this that I really feel like eh... if you accidentally see some skin it's okay... you see way more on TV :D gotta suck it up and give my little girl what she needs.

Brilliant video Emily, it is so important for new mums to feel comfortable breastfeeding in public, I am still feeding my 27 month old son, although just morning and before bed now, but not once did anyone say anything to me when I was feeding him in public. Have you ever thought as training as a breastfeeding supporter? I think you would be brilliant.

Another awesome video! You should dye your hair brunette. I think the contrast with your eyes and light skin tone, would make you look very elegant. Try it! :)
