Breastplate of Judgement

The Breastplate of Judgement described in the Old Testament is one of the most fascinating artifacts found in all of scripture. I find it as compelling as The Ark of the Covenant, Liahona, Staff of Aaron, The Stone Tablets with the 10 commandments, the Urim & Thummim and other Seer Stones.
The Breastplate of Judgement was part of the clothing that would be worn by the temple high priest from the time of Moses and Aaron all the way down until it is apparently lost or no longer discusses after the Babylonian invasion in 587 BC.
Aaron is the first high priest with his Sons being priests in the temple as well.
The High Priest was the one who would wear the special clothing. Only once a year on the day of atonement, also known as Yom Kippur, the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies and make an offering for the sins of all the children of Israel.

I’m a bit of a nut for rocks and gemstones and from my personal spiritual journey came to understand them on a different level… we are taught in the church that everything was created spiritually before it was created physically. We are also taught to take the scriptures both literal and metaphorical. I believe the earth has a spirit, made up of different parts, that elements have a spirit, minerals, and all building blocks of the physical universe. What is spirit but refined matter, aka… energy. Physics tells us energy cannot be created nor destroyed. All energy produces an electromagnetic field, some might call this a Terroidial field or an aura. Especially with our brains a neurons firing electrical impulses to travel through the body. Thoughts and feelings can create the frequency in which these impulses fire or travel (and are recorded within the DNA, our personal book of life… a record of our life and of all those who have gone before us.) Where electromagnetic fields interact, they can alter the energy of what it interacts with. When we are around someone who’s sad, we can feel their sadness. Frequency has an associated sound and color… think of the color scale astronomers use and a the Tesla coil from ‘Sorcerers apprentice’ movie by Disney. (Those who are attuned can see or hear these frequencies.) Anything with a spirit has a vibrational frequency and can interact with our own. Think of the old comparison of the opera singer and the crystal glass, singing at a certain frequency can shatter the glass. Myth Busters did a wonderful segment on this. This interaction is part of metaphysics. It is quite easy to look up on google the metaphysical characteristics of each gemstone. For as much as I know, I must admit I’m still quite ignorant. I plan to make a study of it in the coming days and how the metaphysical aspects of each stone might key in to the characteristics and responsibilities of each tribe. I’m glad that you did a video on this because I have been fascinated by the breast plate and ephod for sometime. I don’t know it all but once upon a time I used to work in both the military and later in research and development with lasers and holographic technology. Certain types of stones, especially ones with crystal lattice inside them like quartz, Ruby and garnet are powerful energy regulators and amplifiers. That’s why they are used in Time pieces and laser devices . Others such as onyx, agate, and Jasper have grounding properties. So, based on that I started to do a bit of research on several of the stones and found them all to have different energy absorbing, conducting, directing, focusing, amplifying and grounding properties. There’s a lot of information about metaphysical or mystical properties of gemstones but I try to just keep it simple and stick to the scientific aspects. In my opinion these stones are arranged in a certain order and pattern for a very specific reason. I think they act as a type of energy conducting device and the stones arranged in the pattern become a circuit. The two seeing stones in the pouch behind the other 12 would be like the positive and negative poles of an energy field. Because the whole thing was placed over the heart, perhaps the human heart itself filled with the spirit of the Lord is the power source. I have a few more thoughts on this but out of respect for how sacred this topic is, I will abstain from saying anymore about that aspect. I was an electronics technician in the Navy and when I was doing my job I learned some interesting things about how energy is conducted, Amplified, reduced, and grounded. Energy flows like water but it can speed up or slow down and will usually follow the path of least resistance. The different colors of the different stones remind me of the different color bands and color codes used on electron it components on circuit boards. When I lived overseas I learned sone interesting things about prehistoric people and how they would arrange standing stones in patterns. There was a very clever researcher who theorized that those stones were arranged A certain way in a certain pattern as a type of circuit to gather, focus, and release energy. I agree with one of the other persons who commented below that the stones were arranged in order to gather and focus energy. Their properties and their arrangement in a certain order words elaborate. I also thought it was interesting that the fibers of linen that were twisted together in a “cunning “ way might have added an interesting sheen to the appearance of the fabric depending on which way you viewed it in the light. If you mix colors red and blue and together they make purple, but if you take red, blue and gold and mix them together they would make a golden brown color or purplish depending on which way you looked at it. That’s my two cents for what it’s worth. Everything that the Levite high court priest wore was symbolic and precisely calculated and made with attention to find details. I studied lithics when I lived overseas and learned a lot about how people made stone tools. These ancient people were not foolish or primitive. They were clever and they were very aware about how to take something simple and make it into Greater and more useful. Imagine the same ingenuity amplified by the power and the knowledge of the Almighty.

When you mentioned that the ephod was made of linen and not metal I was like "oh yeah" we see depictions of a breastplate but confuse it with the ephod. Great video Kevin.

There's a great book by an LDS author that shows that there's perfect harmony between the prophetic statements concerning the garden of Eden being in Missouri and the Old Testament account concerning the garden of Eden. It's called Canaan, Babylon, and Egypt A Comparative Theological Analysis on Creation sold by Eborn Books.

Just wondering, who’s claiming that the Garden of Eden was in Missouri? I’ve heard claims that at some point Adam was there but he didn’t start there, right? Wouldn’t Noah’s flood essentially make all specific lands unrecognizable? Also, if there was a location for Eden I would think it would be the lands most North, the center lands, and man would be cast out from there?

613 is very interesting. Pomegranate seeds being red also (I assume) represent Christ’s blood. It’s like they are little pores. I believe him bleeding from every pore is only found in Mosiah and D&C 19, well and also on the robe the High Priest.

Onyx is technically only black and white in color. What is commonly called, and sold, as onyx is usually banded calcite. When I lived in Turkey, there were even onyx factories I toured and it was multi colored stone. I believe onyx has evolved to be more of a trade name, and misidentified. Much like people used to say Xerox something, even if it was on a Sharp, Panasonic or HP copy machine.
