I have done all of California over several years and my favourite is Mono Lake close to Highway 120 through Yosemite . Mono Lake is described on Wiki as the most beautiful lake on planet earth. 40 miles on is Bodie ghost town and was the largest gold mining town

That's for sure! It seems like this year, there's been a huge influx of people exploring here.. I don't mind, but it kind of makes it harder to see stuff. Like Havasu Falls... they now require reservations and it's booked out until I'm a senior citizen... kinda bums me out. At least I've already been there.

It also depends on which one you choose to visit. I believe Upper Antelope Canyon is less overrun by tourists than Lower Antelope Canyon. Photography tours are super expensive, but yoy get lots of opportunities for pictures with the regular tours. Guides will usually point out anything special and will let you take pictures. You just can't overdo it.
