As someone who lives a few hours close to Atlanta I must say it is a wonderful modern city on the cutting edge of technology and is a regional hub, a business center with a international airport that I’d highly recommend visiting. I’d also recommend visiting the American south in general. Lots of friendly hospitality, fun cities, state and national parks, historical sites, and fun for everyone. Also I must say I want to visit Particularly Sydney, Australia someday. A very beautiful city.🇺🇸🇦🇺

Visited and worked their many times. The cauldron is still up. Centennial Park is beautiful. Atlanta is a world class city.

Greece couldn't economically survive had they hosted the Games back then. It was only in 2004 that they were able to have the funds to do so.

@@ariccua6101 I can't wait I am very excited about Brisbane Olympics .The Sydney Olympics were one of the greatest experiences I have had so far in my life. I don't think I have ever come down from the euphoria of it. Because of this I am a massive Olympic Games fan I was very excited when they annouced it before Tokyo 2020 we'll be fantastic hosts again in it will be hosted in our winter which will be strange indeed but Thankyou IOC and Mr Bach from a very excited Australian Olympic supporter

Actually, no. Sydney took the unusual approach of launching their Games-time logo at an event that marked exactly 4 years until the Opening Ceremony. So it was actually launched on the 15th September 1996, not long after this Closing Ceremony in Atlanta :)

I lived in Forrest Park while attending Ga State 1993(grad 1997). I have ridden 195 from Ellenwood area (near Walmart )near(South Dekalb county line). It's a long ride but fast ride. I have ride many time. I have lived mostly in the city of atlanta, decatur, Stone Mountains, Lithonia . While living in Clayton county( Forrest Park), i drove to and from Ga State(Grad 1997)and Atlanta VA HOSPITAL in Decatur

Sydney had the idea to conect the handover with that was to be the Opening and Closing Ceremonies 4 years later.Also the architecture of the Stadium Australia also was planned to the event.

I can tell you that Sydney’s bid was already in the planning even before then in 1991 because they had to put everything in place before 1993 when Sydney won.But yes they actually broke ground in September 1996 not long after the handover

people weren’t happy about this Olympic handover there was a lot of negative publicity about this here in Sydney because of way it was presented here in Atlanta the bicycling roos did however reappear in the closing ceremony of the paralympic games which is a bit of retrospective of the Olympic period that Sydneysiders like myself lived through in 2000
