How do you get to olympic level of sports and you just forget someone took an early lead. My head would explode as a coach. Probably one of the dumbest moments in this sport

It's called instinct so when you get to high level of play in any sport. What you learn is you can use people's instincts against them because you go into autopilot mode. And you're not actually thinking you allow your body to just use its muscle memory to do all its things when they hear the final bell. They completely because it's never happened them in training don't. Even take the time to realize they've been lames. At high levels of any sport intelligence matters more them. Physical attributes cause everyone is nearly on the same level when it comes to physical attributes.

I think,just my opinion,the others thought that impossible for her to keep that pace until the end and they gonna catch up with her. But then she just leap them 1 lap and follow with their pace instead. And because of that they forgot she already 1 lap ahead of them.
@jakemccoy
@jakemccoy Ай бұрын
The other skaters thought she was trying to mess up the pace and then fell off the rink as a sacrifice for her teammate. So, they ignored her. If you look at the camera at eye-level, the skaters cannot really see the whole track at once. They only focus up to the curve in front of them.

It looked like China also got silver because the gold medalist's Chinese teammate was the only one to know that the rest of the pack still had another lap to go. While the other skaters stuck out their skates at the finish line, she knew that they actually had one more lap to go.

They figured it out, if they saw her, they knew what she was doing. Their job is to follow their race plan, it’s a strategy, the others racers will either go fast like her, or do what they did, and stayed at their own pace. She tried to push, but they didn’t budge, it worked in their favor, but…. It might not happen the next time, they might be ready for that the next time, and actually challenge them.

This is why you dont just do as your told. Think for yourself, especially at a professional level. This wasnt even competitive. They kind of played a trick on the sport, almost making a mockery of it. They knew that athletes at this age stick to a script and have little experience going against tradition. Eye opener.

She would be tired no doubt, you can see that she never 'sprinted' ever again in the competition. But the general pace was so glacial (relatively speaking) that she could keep up easily. The problem with the save it for the last 2 laps mentality that endurance sports have.

Definitely not. For so many years short track speed skaters have been going slow until the end, since they are sprinters, not usually distance skaters. Knowing this, she sprinted the first couple laps. Remarkably, no other skater wanted to change their strategy and it cost them in the end.
