Marble Canyon is one of my favorite places to travel. The Lees Ferry Campground above the Colorado River is a great place to stay if you dry camp. It's 1st come 1st served, no reservations. That "bucket" thing is a USGS Cable way. You get it the cart with your stream monitoring equipment to take a flow measurement in CFS; and possibly water samples for sediment and/or bed-load etc. Fun stuff! ✌☮

WOW RUSS! Where do I even start? First, your cameras shot such great video! Clear, precise, beautiful images! Well done! WOW! Everyone knows to get the best images and colors, depends on the sunlight hitting the rocks at the right time and angle. Usually early morning/early evening. Northern Arizona/Southern Utah has landscapes like no other place on earth! I'm not kidding! The Vermillion Cliffs, and that whole area? Are you kidding me? Incredible!!! I am hoping one day you can make it to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It is kind of a out of the way place that would be worth the trip for the spectacular scenery, for sure! Access is kind of limited, so you have to time your visit to when the roads are open. My understanding is, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Well done, my Friend! I can't wait for the next adventure!

Oohh, you've taken me back many years watching this story. I've travelled extensively through the Southwest. I've camped at Lee's Ferry campsite four times, long before you had to pay to enter this area. On my first trip in 1992, there were many more hoodoo's standing than now. The area has been developed considerably also. There was no visitor centre or any other facilities, what a transformation ! The sky at night is something to behold,with such a dark sky, with a full moon, I used to hike at night. Now eighty yrs old, your video as awakened my passion for your wonderful country. Oldtimer Englishman reliving past adventures. Ps, always wanted to " run the river" all 14 days to the Grand Wash at Pierce Ferry, but the cost was always prohibitive.

I really enjoy your videos. I especially loved this one! Several years ago, I took my first solo camping trip. I spent about a week exploring the very places where you were. I took a raft ride from the base of Glen Canyon dam to Lees Ferry. What a great trip that was! After that, I went on a trail ride through Red Canyon. I took that same route through Kanab and Jacob Lake to Bryce Canyon and Zion. Thanks for reminding me of that great trip.

Wow this is amazing. This is a part of Arizona I never knew existed and it is so beautiful. When I was a kid my family lived in Yuma and we used to travel to west Texas to visit relatives and back my times, so I've travelled through southern Arizona, and I have travelled from Denver through New Mexico to Flagstaff and then Phoenix, back to Flagstaff and then to Las Vegas. Other than the north rim of the Grand Canyon I never thought there was much more to see in northern Arizona. This is a great adventure and thank you for taking us along for the ride.

@kimpeters41877 ай бұрын
I heard you say something about Marble Canyon thru the Grand Canyon river trips taking 30 days. Back in the mid 70's it took a week. There were trips where you could exit the river before Lake Mead and be flown back to Vegas. The exit from the river was either by Burrow or Helicopter to a pair of landing strips on the north side of the canyon. Some people were flown into Marble Canyon to start the trip, then returned to Vegas and there cars. That river trip is amazing, glad I did it when I was much younger than I am today.

My mom was born in Kanab and my dad was born in Kingman . They met when my dad worked for the state of AZ as a surveyor when they were surveying the AZ Strip. They met in the Trails End Cafe in Kanab where my mom worked. We spent a week or so in Kanab every summer visiting family on my moms side. I remember going to Moqui Cave as a kid when they had the big dinosaur standing over the entrance as shown in the picture in this video. Thanks for your videos Russ. Our business keeps us pretty tied down here in Phoenix and love watching your videos of my hometown (Kingman) and all of your travels in the state. My parents spent last week in Kanab for a mini family get together. Thanks again for your videos. Jealous of all your travels. Maybe someday I can do it myself.

1:51:18 We stayed at the Comfort Inn. Right up the road is the Little Hollywood Museum. They have the little shack used filming The Outlaw Josey Wales. Lots of other neat stuff. All along the main road there are plaques honoring different stars from movies filmed in town. Just outside of town going back toward Page is a dirt road that leads up to an old set where Gunsmoke was filmed. The landowner allowed the buildings to rot away, now they're all just piles of wood. The movie fort near town burned down and was never rebuilt. They've missed out on a lot of historic sites people would pay to see.

Great video and scenery Russ! I have stayed at the Lee's Ferry campground twice in the last 3 years. Really nice spot! Our Class A coach has a big solar system, 3000w whole house hybrid inverter system and 600ah of lithium batteries so boondocking is no sweat for us! I was last there a year ago when my wife took a 12 day rafting trip down the river with a bunch of friends. She launched on May 17th and they ended their journey at Whitmore Wash, some 188 miles downstream. They exited the canyon via helicopter to the Bar 10 Ranch north of the canyon where they transfer to a fixed wing aircraft for the flight back to the airport at Marble Canyon. What an incredible journey she had. Meanwhile, the dog and I explored Lees Ferry, Marble Canyon and the surrounding areas. Glad you got to see one of the Condors! The new bridge is a favorite hangout for them. On my last walk across the ol bridge, there were 5 roosting on the new bridge! Such a sight to see! After I left Lees Ferry, I too went to the new campground at Antelope Point. Loved it there! Lot's of good food, breweries and attractions in Page! Keep up the good work!

When you get to the 1:31:36 mark, you mention the old hotels in Kanab. The white building is Parry Lodge. It's interesting to go in the lobby and look at the old pictures of many of the movie stars that stayed there back in the day. They say the heated pool was commissioned by John Wayne.
