Battling sub-zero degree temperatures on the ground near Trømso, Norway, the Spanish acrobatic paraglider pilot Horacio Llorens donned a wetsuit and battery-heated gloves, powered up his paramotor, and flatland-launched himself into an amazing night flight with the ethereal green waves of the Aurora Borealis in one of the most breathtaking displays of flight we've ever seen.

+Jack Lewis because these lights don't normally appear on video unless they're using a special type of camera . Usually you need some sort of a long exposure to get all the lights to show up. The harsh gradient most likely is a result from them trying to fully expose the lights

+The Savage Garage The GoPro can't capture the aurora very well, so it wouldn't look very good. The aurora isn't very bright, I assume they used some Sony cameras here which handle high ISO very well compared to most other cameras, so to have a first person view, they would have to mount one of those on him.

The Savage Garage When you see it, it's not like you can drive a bit and get under it or on the other side etc. :) For that you'll have to drive quite a bit :P That it feels lower in the video tell you a bit about the size =) If you see video or pictures from ISS, you'll see it from above and get a better impression of how big it is, I think.

for all who wonder what camera was used for filming the aurora in realtime, though I don't know for sure, there is IMHO a good chance that it was a Sony A7s ( or the newer model A7s II ) which are capable of shooting video in extreme low light, at very high ISO, with very low noise, ideally also you use a very fast f/1.4 lens. A GoPro can't film this, even a bright aurora is way too dark for video at 30fps because then the shutter speed is 1/30th of a second. Very few cameras can shoot realtime video like this...
