Breathtaking Views in Ålesund, Norway | NCL Prima 10 Day Iceland & Norway Cruise!

Today is day 6 of this 10-day solo Iceland and Norway cruise on the beautiful Norwegian Prima, and I decided to skip the Trollstigen shore excursion I originally booked through Viator (link below if you're interested in checking that out!) to instead hike up to the Byrampen Viewpoint (Aksla Mountain) and walk around the picturesque town of Alesund, often voted the most beautiful town in Norway!
I had an absolutely lovely time hiking up to the viewpoint with AMAZING panoramic city views of Alesund. I then explored the town by foot, taking in all of the impressive architecture - facades all built in the style of art nouveau after the city burned down in 1904. I spent some time people-watching at a brew pub right by the port and enjoyed a local beer & a snack before heading back to the ship to relax and enjoy the scenery for the afternoon, followed by a delicious dinner at Hasuki restaurant and an incredible late-night sunset after the infamous NCL Glow Party in the Prima theater!

I’m not sure if i watch this twice, maybe i did and this is another comment, all the binge watching getting to me…. ANYWAYS, wow, not sure whats more breathtaking the hike or the views! One thing I appreciate about your vlogs, and it's kind of strange, is that you are able to roll with the situation well. Bad weather, change plans and still have fun. Tour cancelled, change plans and have fun. I have sadly seen other videos in which the cruise line is blamed for things like rain and the presenter complains about how their holiday is ruined. So, thank you for showing that a good day is what you make of it :)

Another fabulous video and beautiful port, I can’t wait to visit! I read about the rockslides and closed roads last month, so we cancelled our excursion and decided to just explore the town when we are there. Looks like we made the right choice! I’ll be in your neck of the woods next weekend, heading to King of Prussia for a family reunion!

You have made me consider taking a cruise. I have always imagined them full of people partying a little too hard and being loud and inconsiderate... a bit chaotic. But, this seems really nice, and Norway looks beautiful. NCL is lucky to have your elegant vlog.

For me, sleep deprivation followed by steep step climbing and then a 7.7 abv brew=catching a really good nap afterward at the very least. 😴 The views from up there looked great! Sorry you took a soak on the excursion. I'm glad you made the best of your day despite that. Great vlog Merideth. 😊

Good to hear your comments about the ship. Definitely was concerned on why NCL would use Prima for this itinerary. As for Syd Norman’s, it’s quite a gong show with the Fleetwood Mac tribute. Was on the Escape, in line for 45 minutes…near the front…awesome. When they opened the doors everyone who wasn’t in line poured in… didn’t get a seat! Left without seeing the show. 😢🤬
