Good afternoon Meredith! Welcome to Holland America! We've taken eight HAL cruises and have two more itineraries booked. We like the small to medium size ships, the music program, the food is better than some other lines and the HAL staff is absolutely top notch! We sailed from Boston to Montreal on the old Maasdam in 2010. It's been one of my favorite seven night itineraries and I look forward to following you on this trip. Enjoy!!

Ha! I didn't see anything worth commenting on. Then you told of the Oops incident. Solo cruiser Rob (me) had the same thing happen last year on Voyager of the Seas....only not in the shower, but relaxing in the room wrapped in a towel maybe. My *intruder* was female. Maybe it's a fun joke they have worked out for us solo travelers. 😂 I'm glad you weren't too shaken by it. While you're reading, how were the fellow cruisers dressed on dressy night? Personally I love getting dressed up when someone is with me. Alone, it made me feel a little sad. Last year on Voyager, one family wore shorts and Ts into the dining room, no matter the dress code for the day. I thought it was horrible, but, to each their own, I guess.
@MerCruisesSoloКүн бұрын
@@robk236 no one was wearing ball gowns, that’s for sure! 😆 folks were dressed from anything to very casual to quite dressy but nothing really formal. I usually like to dress up a bit for dinner anyway, regardless of the dress code!

It turned out I was far from the youngest on this cruise! There were several individuals in their early 20s and a good number of children. Overall the average age was much lower than I had been expecting - I think because it was a US holiday and only a 7-day cruise so there were lots of families!

Glad you enjoyed HAL’s Origins story. I’ve gone to it 3-4 times over the past few years, and still enjoy it every time. Confident you discovered HAL opens their retractable roof as soon as it’s nice enough to do so. I love this feature!, as it ensures I can still enjoy the outdoors on rainy/chilly days and keeps the inside spaces less crowded. Yay! I solo-cruise HAL’s oceanview cabins often and enjoy being lower on the ship and closer to the water. Love having that little sofa, plus on newer ships HAL’s design team flipped the layout and the sofa sits by the window - brighter and more enjoyable. (And have a mini-fridge, proper TV screen, and USB ports 😉). Don’t get me wrong - I think their smallest ships are sweet, cozy - plus they can tuck into smaller ports. Glad KZbin’s algorithm offered you(r channel) up to me. Will be back.

You have my sympathy for only cruising with those two lines in the past. Like older ships and ships that hold less than the ships they are making today. I have sailed on NCL once. They offer a substandard cruise product. You also haven't done part of the video in the casino. You still haven't shown the casino. The Crow's Nest also has a bar inside. How do I know? I went on a different Holland America ship some years ago. I like the early dinning. Quebec is not one of my favorite parts of Canada. Holland America has very good food. You won't starve on Holland America. First time you even mentioned the casino. Am a new subscriber. Will try to catch up on your past videos.

In an upcoming video I’ll be doing a full ship tour and will show all of the spaces including the crow’s nest, an area I really enjoyed on this cruise.
