It was a cold evening in Kentucky. I think Zenyatta needed a nice, long and slow warmup before the race that she didn’t get. She was sluggish to get going as a result and got caught in traffic around the final turn. Had she not gotten held up around that turn, she would have won. Had she had a real warm-up, she would have won by more. She should have won and just needed slightly different tactics. Even in defeat, everyone knew she was the best. Still do.

If the race was a bit longer, and or Mike Smith had her go sooner, she would've won no question.

apparently you do not understand horse racing of the thoroughbred type...Z ran her race EXACTLY the way she always has in this race except this time she simply got beat by a slightly faster colt in Blame..if you'll notice the gallop out , as soon as Blame caught Zenyatta out of the corner of his right eye he re-broke and put a good 4 lengths on her..point is the two could have ran around the mile oval again and Z would have never past him

Give credit due to the MVP Garrett Gomez for taking Blame to center of Track after putting away Lookin at Lucky. Had he not done that Blame would not have seen Zen. Blame Ran a Monster and easily best horse this day. No way he lets that mare past him. Game !

Please watch the "gallop out"..at NO POINT did Zenyatta det even as nuch as a flared nostril ahead of Blame..5 yards past the finish line the underappreciated colt ha a good length on Zenyatta..the two could have navigated the racetrack oval twi e more times and she would have NEVER got a nose in front of his

The gallop out means nothing. 2 more jumps with Mike asking her for her life, or a cleaner brake, or a cleaner last 3/8, any/all leads to a 20-0 Zenyatta, period. Blame got a perfect trip, Zeny got about as bad a trip as you could get, and she still ran him down like he was standing still. Get real hater. Blame was a good horse, but he wasnt a match for Zenyatta. Ask any real horseman and you'll get the same answer. Ask Mike Smith and he'll tell you she lost that race bc of him, not Blame.

@@Steven-mk4gg Totally agree. This was not Affirmed/Alydar. Zenyatta was chewing up Blame at the end with every jump. Needed another 25 yards but Smith's trip cost her...

watch the "gallop out" and you'll see that AT NO POINT did the great racemare get her nose ahead of Blame...as a matter of fact, Blame, upon catching Zenyatta out of the corner of his eye, RE-BROKE and put a quick 5 legths on the mare
