Sadly the Sims 4 breeding (for horses and both cats and dogs) does not give you a chance for different coats/furs, it's always either a copy of the mom or dad. Which sucks😢

@@AbigailPinehaven It was much much better in the sims 3 pets, the different colors and patterns can inherit but it's much more diverse with each foal! sometimes even a mix between the parents' colors.

Strangely enough, Dogs are the only ones in Sims 4 treated with any more dynamic to breeding. Not even the cats. Dogs will inherent ANY of the roster coats for the breeds of their mom and dad. Let's say Mommy Husky has *4 coats,* and Daddy Collie has *4 coats.* The baby has 8 different possibilities of coat looks, not including body shape and tails/ears. If you do not believe go ahead go into create a sim and use 2 gender different dogs of different breeds, look how many coat options that breed has for both, and make a child between them with the Play with Genetics option in adding a sim, randomize it a good few times. Cats and Horses do not get this treatment, despite CATS having multiple coats in their breeds, and horses not having multiple coats in their breeds, only 1 coat for horses per breed.

The foals aren't an Identical copy, it takes bits from each so might have mums coat and dads hair colour and shape in jasper's case, so the more different elements there are the more variety in the foal like socks, muzzle, coat, hair, traits, hooves

The Pets expansion in the Sims 3 is a TON better than this. You should check when Sims3 and all it's expansions (or at least the PEts one) goes on sale, as it does MORE than Sims4 horse ranch offers

Could you maybe do a series in Sims 4 where you start a new world then rescue a horse and train them up to become a Championship Rider while expanding your ranch. Its like a kind of Rags to Riches series on Sims 4

Why would you want to change jaspers hair colour though, hes a perfect buckskin. Palomino x Bay= buckskin (sometimes). Palomino=red base with cream dilute. Buckskin=Bay base with cream dilute. Jasper is the perfect combination of both parents coat colours.

idea for breeding! (idea By seri Pixel Biologist!) Once The foal Is Born Go In To cas And Take The Parents colour And write them down in a wheel spinner or some sort of random simulator! and from there go to the first colour spin it and make it the first colour it lands on and so on for the rest,. that way you get unique foals that still look related to the parents

Yes the sims 4 went the lazy route for breeding horses. The foal will always *only* have 4 different outcomes in looks. Looks like Dad, Looks like Mom, Looks like Dad with Mom's Hair, Looks like Mom with Dad's Hair. Voila, that's it!

What I've done with my fouls is go into CAS and tweak them to be a mix between the parents. It do hope there is a mod that will fix that or it's updated at some point though.

A Sims 4 tip that I'm not sure you already know of, if you will try breeding again going forward: there's a cap of 8 Sims in one household and horses are included in that count so you might have to split households in the future so that your breeding pairs can have more children because once you have 8 Sims in one household, no Sim can get pregnant anymore. That is the case until other Sims are gone - whether from moving out or (sadly) from passing away - and the household head count goes down.

Unfortunately the breeding in TS4 is very simple. The foal always take their colour pattern after one of parents and mane color of one of the parents. So the shape. There is no proper mix and randomize you would expect.
