Another brilliant and inspired video. You confirm my understanding of horological beauty and excellence, while raising once again a question which truly baffles me. Perhaps you can help. Before the internet era, it was always my understanding that Breguet was the sine qua non of watchmaking history and exquisite, unequalled beauty and achievement. With Patek arguably in a close second even though it often did not make its own movements. Now Breguet is seen as an "also-ran" as compared to the "holy trinity", a term I had never heard before the era of KZbin and Instagram. Does your experience in watch journalism give you any insight or perspective into this? Was I wrong or misinformed all of those years? Is it because Breguet never made a stuck-in-the-seventies steel sports model? Hate against SWATCH? Marketing mistakes, by not pumping the hype on-line. I am hard-pressed to think of any production model that comes close to the tourbillion you reviewed or even Le Réveil du Tsar. What gives?

Thanks so much for your kind words, and a very, very good question that definitely deserves a good look. First of all, I might be a bit prejudiced as I've always found the distinction 'holy trinity' a bit silly in the sense that I think there is no real justification for it. Why Breguet is left out of it is just as much a mystery to me. Was it because ownership changed a couple of times after the Brown family stepped out? Or because they relocated their production? Or is the 'Holy Trinity' just an urban myth that came alive in the echo chambers of the internet? I suspect the latter. Breguet is definitely up there (or maybe even higher) in terms of history, quality and horological excellence. The only thing Breguet could have 'against' it, might be their slightly conservative marketing and cautious approach to the 'new' media. Breguet communicates in museums, not on Instagram. This has made them vulnerable for lack of word-to-mouth promotion. It just misses the buzz. And honestly, I think their approach not to jump every bandwagon is perfectly justifiable. I'm geniunely impressed by both their work and the people who work there. Long answer, short conclusion: I don't think you're misinformed at all.

Graag gedaan! Het is flink wat werk om alles altijd goed uit te zoeken en in een leuke vorm te gieten, maar als iemand dan 'bedankt' zegt, geeft dat toch altijd wat extra glans aan het eindresultaat 🙂

Astonishing piece! What a beauty! Definitely one of the most underrated brands out there. I love their classique model with the seconds ring embedded on the enamel dial. So elegant! Keep up with the amazing work 🎸🎸. Nice to see you doing some reviews outside the office!

Yeah that was always the idea (also with other people in the videos) but then corona happened... But it'll come! The Classique with the enamel dial is a great idea, I'll put it on the list for a next video 😁
