Hi from Australia :) Just caught up with this video, as I need to change the battery on my B1 (same as the one on the right in your video). Mine also has the little UTC separate watch forming part of the watchband and I need to do that one too. The case opener die has to be 15-sided and 36.07mm exactly. That's why the generic 36mm ones don't work. I'm going to try the rubber ball trick, as I already have a couple of those. I regularly change watch batteries for my collection and the extended family! But the proper case opener die is hard to find now. For those interested, it's a Breitling Case Opener, CO-BR15-3607 (which translates to the 15 sided 36.07mm size). Also just one nit pick - you adjusted the time on the first B1 you did, but to 5 minutes behind the digital time. You set the hands to 14:22 when the digital time was 14:27. Surprised nobody else picked that - must be my OCD kicking in :) Thanks for the video - very appropriate for me right now :)

Fantastic video. I was a little scared trying to do this myself, and since an AD isn't anywhere near, I decided to give it a go. Bought the die, used a spanner to turn it. Back comes off, replaced the battery and all good. I should note I haven't worn the watch in 7 years because of the battery, and everything functions perfectly. There is also a hidden procedure you can use to put the watch to sleep before you change the battery so you don't have to reset the time, alarms, date, etc Ill try to find it, as it is on another site somewhere. Again, thank you so much for this video. Will never get rid of my B-1

Suspend mode specifics--Quoting Andy from the TimeZone Breitling forum: On my B-1, if I rotate the crown until the display is off and then pull the crown out, the top display says “R” and the bottom display shows the time, (an hour behind the time the hands show) and allows me to set this time using the usual controls. […] While the above is happening, I can press the top button and the word “BAT” flashes up in the top window. If I hold the top button, the word “BAT” stays on the screen for a while and then both screens go completely blank and the watch seems to be in some kind of “Sleep Mode”. The screens are blank and the hands are still. To “wake” the watch up again, I have to push the crown back in again, at which point, the watch returns to its normal operating mode and seems to reset itself to the correct time. Keep in mind that this may harm your watch's movement if it sits for a long time without running, as the gears will not be lubricated.

Hello, May I know the exact dimensions of the back gasket you ordered, please ? Mine is cut off and needs to be replaced ... BTW, to open the watch I use a silicon ball, it is inexpensive and there is no risk of scratches. Also, there is an EOL indicator on this watch, the display blinking means you need to replace the battery within 2 weeks. As for the replacement, the battery needs to be lifted slowly otherwise you may lose the small (but crucial !) spring under the battery ! A proper replacement is to put the watch into power saving mode, then, once the old battery is removed, you have 15 seconds to put in a new battery. All the parameters (hours, alarm, calendar, ...) are thus kept in memory.
@CasualWatchReviews3 жыл бұрын

Hi! Hopefully, you still watch for questions. I've had many B-1's over the years. I guess, I sold them prior to battery changes. I just bought one off eBay with a UTC. It was from a big dealer and I think it was tacky not listing the watch and UTC need batteries. I live in the country and I'm a rather old DAV. I knew the B-1 is the most difficult Breitling to change batteries on but I bought it. I only have automatic and manual Breitling's and I thought the price was right. I was wondering about the EOL. The watch came with all it's documentation and boxes but the EOL explanation was vague. The digital display is flashing. Is that indicative of the EOL and a drained battery? There are no Breitling dealers in the state I live in and will be stuck with shipping it off. I hate buying other peoples problems. In 23 years on eBay and over 1000 positives and no negatives, I would never ship a dead watch or a dirty one. This appears to be both. So from your experience, does the digital LCD flash to show the EOL. The backlight isn't working either. Sorry, this is too wordy!

I know the back light thing is an indicator but the flickering LCD I’m not sure. I have only had these two.

I've a Breitling Aerospace (circa 1997) and the flashing display according to the manual indicates; "...The watch is equipped with a battery end of life detector( EOL), acting by flashing of the numerical display". So if the digital display is flashing, change the battery asap! Hope this helps!

I believe when one does a full service on the watch, tyne whole watch is dismantled And cleaned and serviced and cleaned, so it's worth doing full servicing.
@CasualWatchReviews Жыл бұрын
The problem is that services for these quartz watches are actually very expensive. They are modules also so it’s not like a mechanical where you can take it all apart and clean it and put it back together, if something wrong with the electronics, it’s really wrong. You're just describing a normal watch service not one for a specialist watch like this.
@toastopia1 Жыл бұрын
@CasualWatchReviews actually your wrong, I have a brietling and I went on thier site and looked up serving for the areospace and the basic service which the change battery, change all gaskets, check the performance of the watch and change battery, clean and polish whole watch is only $220 which is done every 2 years, which is not bad at all! They also suggest a full overhaul every 6 years which is $600 which is also important! The watch is not just a normal watch, it's movement does have jewels, I believe 7 each and the watch is a super quartz able to keep time plus or negative 20 seconds a year! It's chrono certified! There is no comparing to a normal quartz, also during the full service the watch is totally dismantled movement and all and serviced, the quartz movement re adjusted if needed. Frustrating when you have watch enthusiasts buy high quality watches and complain about servicing, it equates to about 100$ a year of ownership to properly maintain a watch, please do some research by making comments such as yours.
@CasualWatchReviews Жыл бұрын
Thats not what your original comment said at all. The first, where you didn’t just copy and paste something you read online. You would rather pay $220 to replace the battery and gaskets when I did it for less than $100. Once you have that tool, the battery changes after would be around $10. If when they service these watches and they find the module is broken, I can assure you it’s far more than $660. You only have to do the bare minimum amount of web research to check if I’m right. They don’t fully dismantle the modules at all. You're describing a mechanical watch there. If there is an issue they swap the whole thing out.
