The Breitling Super Chronomat B01 44 comes in three versions. Two are encased in stainless steel with blue or black dial-and-bezel combinations. The third is a rich brown dial-and-bezel combination with a case in 18 carat red gold. All feature contrasting silver chronograph counters powered by the COSC-certified Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, which provides about 70 hours of power reserve. The Super Chronomat is water-resistant up to 200 meters. For those wanting something extra special, there’s a black dial version with a UTC-module embedded in a Rouleaux bracelet. Referring to Universal Time Coordinated, this provides a way to keep track of a second time zone and is a quirky Breitling feature dating back to the 1980s.

As its name implies, the SUPER CHRONOMAT 44 FOUR-YEAR CALENDAR has a semi-perpetual calendar mechanism that needs adjusting just once every leap year - or every 1461 days. It comes in two versions: black dial with tone-on-tone chronograph counters, a stainless-steel bezel with a black ceramic bezel insert, and 18 carat red gold elements, or blue dial featuring tone-on-tone chronograph counters and a bezel in 18 carat red gold with a blue ceramic insert. Water-resistant up to 100 meters, this timepiece is powered by the Breitling Caliber 19, a COSC-certified chronograph movement with a semi-perpetual calendar with day, date, month, and moon phase indicators.

Wow, my first impression is thank good, Breitling have found the way back to modern design not retro. The Chronomat is a son of the Wings and bring back the Wings to the dial. Today for me is a good day because Breitling find his soul back. It is a good decision, presenting the clock outside because the light is excellent and you see the colors and the material very good. This is quintessential Breitling. In my opinion, they went right up to the line where the watch would be too big and not really wearable. They threaded the needle perfectly, in my opinion. People that want a strong masculine looking Breitling will be happy and those that don’t want a watch that is too big will be happy, as well. My preference is on the rubber strap.

Once you’ve gone glidelock and easy link there’s no going back to having to physically remove links and put them back with the seasons. The solution is surely easy enough and should be as standard at this price point.

This breitling watch should have the wings on. Because of the way it looks, the bee logo looks stupid on this good-looking watch. The bee logo fit some watches but not all breiling watches so don't take the wing logo off all of them. The DNA of breitling was pilot watches and pilots.

Another great 'collection' review from outside when it's snowing Alexander, once again you went the extra mile for analog! Much appreciated. Breitling has certainly upped its game recently (although I still miss the wings logo) and this collection is following this trend. In isolation these watches are big, brash and maybe a tad aggressive in design. Good clear readable dials, the reverse panda look make the 1st 2 models stand out as chronographs, the red chronograph seconds hand is a nice touch as well. I also prefer the ceramic pushers and bezel on these. The UTC option is an interesting one that is genuinely useful for travelers as well. Personally I would prefer the current Omega Seamaster 300M chronograph over the 1st 2, it's a less aggressive design with two sub dials (but 3 hands) so you don't have a date window cutting into a sub dial (Breitlings execution of this is very well done though). The Omega also used ceramic for not only the bezel and pushers but also the dial. It's also a 300M water resistant watch that does not require screw down pushers. One area that I do not understand is why Breitling only etched the minute points on the bezel from 45 to 15, I would prefer them all the way round like the Omega but I appreciate many diver bezels often only show minutes from 0 to15 or 20 minutes. Movement wise there is probably not a lot of difference in the real world apart from the co-axial Omega. I also prefer the Omega bracelet with the built in micro adjustment slider but arguably does not look as flash as the Breitling bracelet. On to the semi perpetual calendar, I prefer this the most out of the 3. A dial packed with information that you only have to nudge the date every 4 years. It is also interesting that this is a modular device using the well proven module from Dubois Depraz, instantly noticeable from the case as the date/moon phase pushers etc sit slightly higher than the crown and chrono pusher centers. Usually the Dubois Depras module sits above the base movement and is driven by a single point from the base module, some very clever Breitling and Dubois Depras engineering has gone on here if this is mated to a well proven work horse Valjoux 7750 movement so adding concentric additional day/month/date fuctions is an interesting challenge for my tiny brain. Apologies for the long winded post but if I had to choose one of the watches in this review it would be the semi perpetual calendar.

Great looking old school Chronomat's. Just too big for us with puny wrists. Back in the day like 1995/96 Breitling offered a smaller Chronomat called the Chrono Cockpit for smaller wrists it was around 37 mm I bought one on a that version of the Bullet Bracelet, that want it was called here in the states. Love what they've done with the bezel..clever to have the classic tabs but in ceramic also. But the price is prohibitive.

Die blaue sieht sehr schön aus. Diese gibt es aber nicht am Stahlband? Das Kautschukband finde ich immer als eher billig wirkend. Bei so einem Preis würde ein Stahlband selbstverständlich sein und ein Rubber dazu als Option ( vielleicht mit einem kleinen Aufpreis).

Went to the omega boutique 3 hours north after months research, including softening up my Mrs. they wouldn’t approve my credit even though my credit score is over 800, my Mrs and I are both physicians, and we have a credit line with Tourneau with the same financial institution. Schönes Review Herr Linz sehr schöne Maskuline Uhr mir ist sie leider zu groß. Die Chronomat B01 42 finde ich von den Proportionen ausgewogener. Aber sonst Top Uhr.

It’s a perfectly ‚Breitling’ Breitling. Not for me, but I love that bracelet. I wonder how it wears. This is also one of the pieces that would benefit from the winged logo, which I generally do not prefer.

I tried on both the 42mm and the 44mm. The 44mm wears better because of the downward bent lugs. The lugs on the 42mm are straight. Also the 44mm is thinner and more comfortable. I bought the 44mm for that reason (that and I like the look better).

Tht looks like a Modernized the chronomat, the bezel is good enough fo those who like mecha godzilla/ gundam/ starwars but the blue is no better than tudor navy bb The big question is, while the new ceo cannot incorporate iwc tactics to breitling, and if they cannot deliver a design like the new zentona zenith el primero chronosport, should breitling do a collaboration with a famous anime/ movie or character icon entity ? Like speedmaster ultraman ...or 007 omega

Already the posted comments here show that there is interest for such an oversized chronograph... one, mind you, that is still smaller than the oversized, mini-pizzas for the wrist we used to see...

Only downside is that you can damage the AR coating on the outside and leave marks. I have this on a Breitling Aerospace but that’s well worn in so it doesn’t bother me. Adds character in an odd way.

From a user perspective the chrono push pieces, the crown of course and the unidirectional bezel are the fun interactive play items that are always worth a mention. But I take your point that you were introducing the models as an overall presentation. Cool watches, I’ll add this to my growing list of future purchase options although the wingspan and heft of this one may discount it.

@@WatchAdvisor I recently tried on the black eyed grey Boutique edition on the rubber strap. It’s a very handsome masculine bad boy and the 44mm size can carry the muscular 14.4mm bulk. Wears well. Looks the business. I can see myself wearing this over a wetsuit in the next James Bond movie emerging from a submarine with a knife clenched between my teeth, before plunging it into Putin! Checks chrono- good. Now to the pick up muster point for Ariel evacuation - get to the chopper!

Bezel action of the super chronomat seem to be harsher than normal diving watches, I found sub has the best feel, very smooth. Also I have tried winding the watches also not as smooth? Could it because of the design of the pusher?

All Breitling watches require a bit more of “energy” for winding… that’s due to the gaskets used in the tubus of the crown

I thought breitling had learnt its lesson … the size makes the watch horrible. Put that design on a 41mm case, eliminate the seethrough caseback to reduce the thickness to 13.75 mm and i would buy one…this is a chunky monster … coming next a 47 mm chronograph

The chronomat 42 not good for you? Similar design but smaller. Actual thickness of that watch is 14mm (measured from the edge of the domed crystal), so very close to what you want.

@@WatchAdvisor there is at least 1 client for every watch but if you want to creat an identity, you have to make choices and create direction… breitling is paying price for weakening its identity … this is a GREAT design ruined by a lack of elegance due to 44 size and giving in to trend traps… those 46 mm chrono-monstrosities is one of the reasons why the brand has no aftersale value. When I saw the new premier line and 42 Chronomat, I thought they were going in the right direction… Just because I have an opinion does not make me a cynic. A review normally has positives and negatives. So either you must only review perfect watches, because I never you criticizing a watch with positives and negatives.

It should be mandatory that a piece of this size has a titanium option. In titanium I would consider it. In steel it’s just too much.

I am sure this option will come later... Actually the steel version including the rubber strap and folding clasp weighs 130,5 grams, with the Rouleaux bracelet 159,9 grams, the gold version with strap and folding clasp 146 grams, the watched alone 120 grams...

It seems a little over the top but size wise but I used to ski with guys who liked a big bold wrist cannon so I know the type of guy this would appeal to. Outdoors loving sporting alpha makes. They are certainly built to last and are an “eye full” as they say. Breitling certainly churning out the designs these days, it all adds to the party!

That UTC is a monstrosity , it’s like an extra “ mini eye” looking at you all the time. The blue and black versions are nice and the movement is also very nice but the thickness is too much. It should have been under 14 mm . At 14, 35 mm , it’s just another thick chronograph with a slightly better in house movement . Love the rouleaux bracelet look, but now days I need a watch with a micro adjustment and one I can regulate on the fly , without tools and this seems to have neither. The price on the gold version is outrageous , but I’ll look forward to possibly picking one up on the grey market at less than half the price. As a matter of fact all their prices are outrageous , you would have to get your head checked to pay that kind of money for a Breitling at retail; if you ever went to sell it you would get a third of the money for it, probably slightly less. That said, there are a lot of schmucks out there with money to waste.....

Tastes are different! Buying a watch (a luxury item per se) should always be driven by emotions and NEVER by ratio ... So no one needs to get his head checked at any point. Pure cynicism - not more! IMHO all your "thesis" is irrelevant and obsolete!

@@WatchAdvisor с удовольствием ношу классические Авенжеры 48мм, но данная новая модель вообще на Брайты не похожа, без характера и без золотого ( они из белого золота кто не знал на всех моделях) красивого логотипа с крыльями, без него часы похожи на касию за 3000р)) так я воспринимаю именно эту модель. модели предыдущих лет гораздо интереснее, буду брать новые и чуть б/у с рук. Брайты идкальны по соотношению цена/ качество , все что выше уже цены завешены в ритейле зв бренды и прочие моменты . Короче Брайты по честной цене продают)). это мое мнение
