This woman been beautiful all her life. I wasn't even born till 1978. Just saw an 1964 clip of American Bandstand/Dick Clark and in a million years woulda never thought thru out the years she was only 17 when the song was recorded in 1964. She still got them eyes. She took very great care of herself.

This one use to shut me down every single time my mom played it, no matter what I was doing, I would instantly stop, go to my favorite oversized chair and sit without moving a muscle., meditating, it was a natural reaction. I was a child then and now in my 60s. I still have this song in my heart, and seeing her perform it so elegantly is amazing, what a blessing.

I saw Brenda Holloway in the 60s. She was an icon well before Diana Ross. She was the Diana Ross of the 60's. She wasn't well publicized, or managed, but she was so very good. As she is now. She has to be going on towards 70. Late 60's. She looks beautiful. You go girl!!!!! I was a teenager and she was older than me back then, in her 20's probably, in the late 60's. Do the math....

I have watched this so many times, I’ve lost count. Perfection all the way around. The way she says “Thank you! All right!” before she sings the very last note - I’ve never seen anything like it! Love it. Not to mention that extra Long note she sustains while casually walking across the stage - amazing. The back-up singers, the musicians - all magnificent!

Great performance, and I still listen to "Every Little Bit Hurts", "When I'm Gone", etc. by Brenda Holloway. She was a songwriter too, btw. Did youknow she wrote "You Make Me So Very Happy", which she recorded also as well as it being a big hit for Blood,Sweat and Tears? She's the real deal, and "Every Little Bit Hurts" is a stone cold Motown classic. I see no need to compare her to Diana Ross; they are simply different artists with different strengths and talents. That makes about as much sense as comparing Jimmy Ruffin with Marvin Gaye. I appreciate them ALL

What a beautiful performance. She's taking a song she's probably been singing since...what? 1962? and she just goes off and takes it to church! With such a great attitude, too..she keeps saying "thank you" to her audience. I just love seeing singers get lost in the moment and rip it out like this!

This might be one of the greatest songs ever, and every young soul singer has much to learn from Brenda and a few others of her generation. Soul is not about vocal gymnastics and singing hundreds of notes in one breath, it's about finding that part of you and your experiences that gives you a deep personal connection to the song, and then putting the listener in that same place because they have been there too.

I am so glad I viewed this! First of all MAD RESPECT to Ms Brenda! So few artist are able to maintain there voice as time goes by. Life, Environment, and some bad habits hamper the gift. If I one the lottery I would invest in building a place where entertainers of yesteryear could come and perform allowing those like myself the ability to hear and enjoy these ladies. All professional now sometimes charity is good. However artist need to get paid! Another bonus some like I could also have ability to bring an entire new generation of fans. The GOD given beautiful voice of Brenda Holloway no longer would be considered a part of the oldies and dusty's category. We do in this country to one's that may not have dropped a track in a few years.

On this day in 1964 {June 6th} Brenda Holloway performed "Every Little Bit Hurts" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV network Saturday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'... At the time the song was in it's first of two weeks at #13 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, and that was also it's peak position on the chart, it spent 10 weeks on the Top 100... The song was her biggest hit on the Top 100, she had five other songs make the chart, "I'll Always Love You" {#60 in 1964}, "When I'm Gone" {#25 in 1965}, "Operator" {#78 in 1965}, "Just Look What You've Done" {#69 in 1967}, and the original version of "You've Made Me So Very Happy" {#39 in 1967}... She was also co-composer of "You've Make Me So Very Happy", in 1969 Blood, Sweat, & Tears' covered version peaked at #2 {for 3 weeks} on the Hot Top 100 chart... Ms. Holloway will celebrate her 71st birthday in fifteen days on June 21st, 2017...

It wasn’t about who had the most soulful voice. It was about who’s voice could cross-over into pop. Motown was trying to break that barrier. They had a harder time doing that with their soulful and huge-voiced singers (Brenda, Kim Weston, Florence Ballard, Paul Edwards, etc) so they turned their attentions to the singers with lighter voices
