Hello! I'm 21 and am currently applying to veterinary schools. When you get older, you'll realize all that goes into being a vet, including college, experience, and working with a vet. Don't get deterred by the amount of work or the.....*gulp*.....cost of veterinary school. If this is what you want to do in life, you can do it!

I’m Korean and I really want to be a vet someday. In Korea, it is very VERY hard to get into a veterinary college, so I’m working hard recently. I'm 32 and I've wanted to be a vet/vet tech since I was a child. I never went into it because of fear of failing but maybe it's not too late....I've heard it can be emotionally exhausting which I believe but I just want to work with animals so much! I have looked after animals off and on my whole life and rescued a number of animals...it is so rewarding to help animals

Kawaiigamii my local technical college offers the certificate on campus. It’s only a month long and I only attend class 2 days a week for 3 hours each class. Definitely check your local technical college. I was about to pay and go online to get a degree. I’m so glad I didn’t.

YktvMoni i think you have to major in animal science , it only take two years :-) some community colleges offer vet tech programs and they also have trade schools for this career

Hey, I have been wanting to become a Vet Tech for a long time now but something I struggle with is needles. I have never done injections so I am not sure how that will be, however, I saw in another video that in Vet Tech School you practice on each other. I am a little scared about that, would it be a deal-breaker? Also how hard was schooling with the tests, studying, the environment, etc? I saw that there are different types of Vet Techs as they focus on certain things and I wonder all the different types of them, if they would make more money, if would it be harder schooling. You probably won't see this but if you do what are your thoughts?

i had an 18 year old dog who was put down because our vet said she had cancer without running tests and now i’m just realizing it was a hotspot because she had to have a coat on her all the time as she was really old and it’s really cold here so i think it was just rubbing on her 😔😔😔

Bare Bare you can work at a kennel or pet daycare, be a groomer, pet sitter, there’s a lot of jobs working with animals that aren’t veterinary related. Good luck!!

Thank you for the nice comment! There is variety of different jobs you can enter within the veterinary field. I always recomend people that are young to pursue a job as a Veterinarian! You can really make a difference in your community, just takes longer than a vet tech. 😊👍🏻

Of course! Even without experience I would try to get a kennel or receptionist job , best way to get a feel for it without going too deep. Some practices depending on the state can cross train you too and you could become a vet assistant!

If you mean the blood, you can’t get anything from animal blood like you can from humans.
