I thought 20 years ago that less people would be in arts as technology advances but its apposite thanks to KZbin. Those days I learned music my self was realy hard and took way long and now it takes 4th of an effort. Time running fast though.

I myself started decades ago to wield brushes with the vague hope of becoming an illustrator just to realize, that it is not possible without the goodwill of the art directors...it was so hard actually that I stopped this task, even stopped for a couple of years to paint altogether. Then I started to paint again...doing ANYTHING but illustrations....and a few years later I started this channel here because I just felt the need to share what I do with people out there - and apparantly a lot are seeking for exact the knowledge that I share on this channel - this is such a fantastic experience, chatting with people all over the world - I truly believe, technology is not separating people from each other, it helps to connect people - we just need to use it the right way :-) And it is NEVER too late to start doing what you really love...if you`re still into music go for it!!! It is all up to you now, KZbin can be the starting point of a whole new life for you :-)))

The shadows of the foam can often be seen on the sand in that very shallow water, this particular painting would have a "third" dimension added to it by adding the foam shadows, the foam would then appear to be floating as it actually does.

These videos couldn't have come at a better time. I just rec'd an order for a sign with water in it, and he wasn't happy with the other "water" I'd done so I'm going to use your techniques. I did similar, but my brushing was off. These will help a lot!

btw: love the dinner plate pallet! I use old take out food trays, plastic lids, etc. haha. I'll have one going for greens, one going for blues, so I don't mix them up.

Great :-))) Yes...the infamous dinner plate ;-) Just ran out of my usual one time use palettes...and why not using this perfectly smooth dinner plate ;-)

@@brennerfineart Yeah, I use old food trays and stuff to keep the colours separate because (I should tell you now) I'm actually blue/green colour blind. So I use the containers of paint with the name of the colour on it in front of each palette so I don't get them mixed up. When I used a palette with the tear away pages I'd write in black marker what the colours were next to each blob. I used to watch an old tv show on PBS Magic of Oil Painting with Bill Alexander on saturday mornings and paint along. Then one saturday I was at a girlfriend's place and she only had an old black and white tv. "what are you watching for? it's in black and white" Me: it doesn't matter, the paint looks the same. Her: HUH? Me: yes, that's thalo blue, alazarian crimson, yellow ocre, etc. I have to "remember" that blue + yellow ocre makes green then remember how much of each makes the green I want. I can't just "look" at it and say "yeah, that's the right colour.
