If you think about it the 50s, 60s and 70s, were all blasted through with such a blistering velocity and at times violence. So many brilliant platforms that truly deserved further exploration and elaboration. Here's one.

Beautiful! Thank you for the music each and every musician was expressive and a master of their instrument. I have a special place in my heart for that perfect brush drumming by Steven Tate!!! I miss you.

Wow!! Beautiful! So true to the feel and sound and brillance of Desmond, Bickert, Thompson, and Fuller.

A trio I am in plays this tune - absolutely love Brent's take on this...it is exquisite and in many ways a more delicate treatment of the great Desmond tune. Bravo!

Sweet! Yes, quite the Desmond sound alike. That's the highest complement in my view.

Nearest sound to Desmond I have ever heard well done,i was going to record this tune now I changed my mind :) now for the obvious question please please pretty please ,mouth piece ,red setup? My Meyer 5 doesn’t sound like that even though I have been blowing last 30 years search never ends Again well done all of you

I agree. I'd like to know his set up. I can get my best Desmond tone using a Vandoren Optimum AL3 and Gonzalez 3.5 reeds, a classical setup I know, but works well for that "Dry Martini" sound. Did my best Desmond sound on "In My Own Sweet Way" with this setup m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpvOg4upqb6Lg5Y

Si think he is using a Vandoren v16, not the s+, the m model. My setup sounds similar and I use a "G by Meyer" witch is a copy of the old Gregory mouthpieces (Paul Desmond's mouthpiece brand)

It looks like a Vandoren V16 I think I can make out 'A6'. Not sure if it is the small chamber plus or medium chamber. Sounds like.a medium tho. Also he looks to be using the yanagisawa model that does not have ribs so is more lively in tone.

Lovely!! Your tone and concept is right on. Great job. This tune is based on "for all we know" isn't it?
