It's an old video and I don't know if you read this, but have you ever tested spray painted gear for its IR abilities? I think it would be worth it to make a video on this. A lot of people buy the old ACU/UCP uniforms and gear and dye and paint it. It's not so bad if you use it for airsoft or outdoor activities, but if used in combat this could turn into a bad situation.

Don't stop or start your stream of paint on the object you are painting, that will cause a large build up of paint, and runs at the point where you start and stop your spray stream. Start spraying off the edges of the object, then move across the entire object and stop the spray stream once you are clear of the object. You will get a more even professional look

You got to be shitting me. Paint it all and don't look back, never had a malfunction M14, 1911 or bolt gun. YMMV

Instead of using stencils, I find local vegetation works just as well if not better. Start with a green/brown base layer (or combination) and cover your gear in leaves, twigs and other debris. Then go over the whole thing again with tan and you'll have vegetative silhouettes on your gear.

Hey Brett big fan of the channel. If I can offer a painter's tip...on the rifle you can make the paint last indefinitely if before you spray the paint, wipe down all of the metal with alcohol. Denatured alcohol is recommended but isopropyl also works. After, krylon makes an ultra matte, enamel based clear. Spray a couple coats over the camo to take away the gritty feeling from the pigment and seal for a long lasting finish. For the web gear, if you use silicone spray like kiwi camp dry before you spray paint, and also seal with a light coating of the same clear coat it won't soak the paint up and your gear will be more water resistant than before. Also to save labor, it's quicker to use the 2" roll of masking tape and just tear out random patterns and stick directly to the project. Those are the procedures I use for the same tasks.

Now folks remember that you use colors according to your field of operations. You could look in the environment around you to help. Maybe and oak leaf or pine needles. To spray paint over. To break up the basic look and outline of the rifle to help it to blend in or be less noticeable. Brent you did a fantastic job.

I finally got around painting my DPMS AR. I painted a tan underlay with light green and OD over spray and some sparing brown spots to break up some of the high points. I used a torn piece of ACE hardware bag to get some jagged fades. When I was finished I painted the shiny black GI issue sling for a great result. Then I went and painted some shorts I had made from some UCP pants. I really liked the effect of the overspray on that useless UCP pattern!

It's all personal preference but I found that, with Krylon camo paint, the dull flat matte renders the camo paint even flatter and duller, plus it evens out the overall paint job, since you have layers of paint sitting on paint. I have not tested the clear dull matte with Rustoleum however.

@@mannox775 its great option, I usually ceracote them and then you can spray over the base coat with whatever color you want. However, not everyone can afford cerakote so this is a viable option. And who cares? There meant to be used, and airsoft is already expensive so rattle can it with pride!

So I thought Id give it a go myself, I used my pellet gun first. Instead of a synthetic mesh I used sheets of burlap to create the grid like pattern. I would highly recommend using burlap, it came out very organic and natural looking, created a sort of distortion at any range longer the 20'. I wish I could post a pic here.

Nicely done. I started using spray-through stencils about ten years ago on an AK, starting with tan as well, and it suits the desert just fine. I hung the AK with matching mag in a bush and could not see it from 20 feet away. I've watched many videos where sponges are used to dab spray paint on - not bad, some look really good. But the stick on shapes never grabbed me - looks okay but lots of work. I also think the sharp edges are too sharp. Spraying through cutouts you can blur edges. I also found that spraying dark brown from a distance tones down bright tan spots by 'dusting' small droplets and blending edges.

I treat all my leather and cloth with bees wax. I buy it in cubes for a few bucks and hit it with a heat gun and apply it to the material. It gives it a nice feel on your skin, a level of water resistance and I’ve noticed that all the clinger burs and thorns are less likely to stick to it.

I found that once you put down the base coat color ,you let that dry. grab some foliage whether it be a stem of a fern or whether any other kind of you know detailed foliage of your area just hold it up to the random areas and paint over the stem and leaves in different spots until it gets saturated and throw it away and then use a different branch of a different plant that way you have the native plants and foliage in the camouflage the colors you can mix them up

I don't have a sniper veil, but I've used "dollar store" laundry bags to obtain that desired texture. I have also used shapes cut out of Frog Tape (doesn't damage previous colors, and doesn't allow "bleeding"). The sky is the limit. I say, use whatever works for you. I absolutely love your videos Brent0331! My airsoft team uses the German Flecktarn Camouflage pattern as our standard camo, so your video on German Flecktarn Camo effectiveness is a great way to show the recruits why we've chosen this camo! I wish your channel the most success in the world! Samuel Twigg

If you haven't already, you should do a video about room clearing, slicing the pie, etc. It's cool watching you guys dissect that kill house, it'd be sweet if you explained how you do it.
