Hey Davey I was giving that gpx file out, but Peter Barber (who guided us) asked me to stop giving that file out to others because it did go through a bit of private property. Loved this episode 👏 haha - Mate an FPV drone using BetaFlight in ACRO mode requires you to be an actual 'skilled RC Pilot' (as opposed to DJI where you are an 'operator' at best - there is no such thing as a dji pilot because their flight system is akin to an autopilot). 😆 Brent - Well done for opting out - good call - most FPV noobs/guys have to do 25~50 hrs of sim time - then a dozen or more batteries at a sports field - then maybe think about tracking a slow moving bike or a car subject.
@brentbat Жыл бұрын
Obviously you are an FPVer. Yes, I did about 40 hours in the Sim before flying... but it is still quite different when flying "for real". Yes, I need quite a few more flights before I will attempt anything ambitious.... but it is a lot of fun.

All drones run on LiPos, its just that the kind in this vid dont have a BMS onboard like all the other DJI products.
@brentbat Жыл бұрын
Really? I didn't realise that all drones used LiPos, I thought they used Lithium Ion batteries. As you have gathered, while I've been flying drones for years, I'm new to the world of FPV drones. These batteries seem scarier than the more "consumer oriented" batteries in my other drones. I've never had to think twice about recharging them, storage voltages etc. etc. Now I just need to work out how to get more than about 4min per flight!!!

Brent your videos are next level. I love the map and how you show the tracking. How do you do it?
@brentbat Жыл бұрын
I'm afraid that I am using some pretty complex mapping software called Geolayers 3 that runs on Adobe After Effects. So it's not for the faint hearted, but there are a couple of simple ways of doing animated maps. Here's one that I came up with...kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHnIdIeIba-Dbs0

@@RedFox-i8i Hey Mike Yes, the videos take some time to edit, but here's the thing... Loving these two videos. Thanks for taking the time. How are you finding the Aurora kit?
@brentbat Жыл бұрын
Hey Tom Thx for your comments. Regarding the Aurora kit, I only have the tanks, not the tower. I love everything about the tanks EXCEPT for one thing... the bash plate. It's made of Carbon Fibre and looks like a work of art when it is new, but one run through the rocky Flinders did a real number on it. I'm having chats with Aurora and they are replacing it free of charge which is great, and there is discussions about having alternate bash plates to Carbon. Either aluminium or the high tech plastic (which would be my preference). But I looked at all the fuel options for the 701 and chose Aurora for a bunch of reasons. it is crazy expensive, but in my opinion it is the best if you can afford it. I love having the second fuel pump for redundancy, the fuel is carried down low, so even when the bike is full of fuel I don't notice any handling issues. The range is fantastic now.
@toktoktok89 Жыл бұрын
@@brentbat yes it's definitely the premium long range option. I have never seen someone else pair it with the Lynx. Looks pretty good. My 701 unfortunately got sent down the road and did not survive the encounter... I am waiting on the replacement and back to the drawing board as to build intentions.

@@brentbat a large crash on the pavement unfortunately. Unrecoverable tankslapper after a bit of a crest. The bike actually set on fire, fuel leaked from the breather onto the exhaust.
