I’m glad you mentioned the need for a fast reel to catch up to them when they’re eating it good! I’ve had people look at me like I’m crazy when I’ve mentioned it myself! That high speed reel is also great for those quick single reel cranks near cover.

Great info and you speak the truth about bladed jigs. 2023 was my first year to use the 2 chatter baits I carried in my back pack for 2 years. I found that a white chatter bait with a baby bass colored fluke was deadly in the clear strip pit I fish a lot. 4 and 5 pounders were attracted to it . Thanks for sharing your knowledge !

Brent I have braid line on everything. Haven't had any problems yet but I don't fish tournaments just fun fishing. Last fall ran in to our buddy Ronny .

Great video Brent. My son Devon got me some bladed jigs but I've never tried them out. After watching this I have to try them out. Local Shawnee waters I guess.

I agree with you on a MH rod but Brett Hite (the Chatter Master) uses a heavy action parabolic rod.

The good old days! It was a great tournament circuit.

@brentchapmanoutdoors Absolutely! Ernie was the straightest shooting tournament director that you could ask for. Don and Kevin did a great job, as well, after Ernie passed.

I like rage bug rage tail and a swammer. I am going to try a spunk shad this year

You mentioned a boot tail swim bait creates too much drag . I agree . I think the skirt creates too much drag as well . A skirt less 3/8 oz will run deeper than a skirted 1/2 oz. It will have a more free swimming action . I cannot think of any creature in the water that has a skirt ? If you want it to run shallow , now you can put that swim bait back on that skirt less chatter bait . Try the boot tail upside down.

As a tournament angler, thanks to FFS, there's coming a day to where the only bait we'll need is a swimbait.

why determines the brand you use? Why/when the Jackhammer vs Thunder Cricket?

@brentchapmanoutdoors you may or may not remember me I was a Doug Garrett protégé and hung out with John Sappington some and Mike McClelland. I'm thought that was one of the better circuits ever

Brent - If I may ask... When do you use a Thunder Cricket vs. Jackhammer?
@Phreddyfoophred10 ай бұрын
I absolutely can't catch fish on one, I'll throw and catch fish on a spinnerbait or get skunked with a chatterbait.
