My son and I started fishing bladed jigs several years ago. We started with the original chatterbait and the strike king pure poison. The poison seemed to catch more fish and we caught many good fish over the next 5-6 years. The 2 big problems with the pure poison is no bait keeper to hold the bait on so you go thru many trailer baits. Also, it's slow to get the blade moving sometimes. We didn't pay much attention to either until we finally used a jackhammer. The ease of fishing it was such a pleasant surprise. It can be used in much shallower water and thicker grass. I don't necessarily think the jackhammer catches more than the poison, but it's so much easier to fish. Also, the trailer baits that are saved helps to offset the extra cost of the hammer. Also, if you need a bait to fish ultra shallow or ultra slow, the strike king rage blade is the trick. It's odd looking but it catches fish in areas you can't hardly fish other baits. Reel it in at about half the speed of other bladed jigs. At a medium retrieve speed you can basically fish it like a wake bait. Thanks Tyler for all the info and many great videos. Keep up the good work.

You can try using some super glue gel for your bait keepers. A small dab at the head of the bait once rigged goes a long way to saving baits.👍

I love the underwater footage of the different bladed jigs. They are all amazing and great baits to use. On another note, the Googan Squad Clickbait can be adjusted. Bend the wire up to run deeper or bend the wire down to run shallower. Thanks for another great video!! You are killing it!!

I bend them up straight out of the box or they just wanna rise like a top water. But the fall of the clickbait is where it's at I've caught a few fish just straight retrieves then just let it fall to bottom then retrieve let fall all the way down

I did the same thing in a large swimming pool with chatterbaits of different makes & even twitch baits. Jackhammer proved really well. Thunder Cricket did impress as well. Trailers will give different results as well. Kinda hard to say which one is better. Jackhammers are a top seller. It's also made with a titanium. That's the major difference. But I have caught more fish on the custom chatterbaits than anyother one. I guess it's a matter of condition and confidence. Great video

I make a couple of mods to my Chatterbaits. The first one is to flex the blade back and forth to loosen the action (and I have noticed that it knocks the paint off where it hits the jig head and curls out the bottom tips of the metal blade). The second mod is to take a pair of plairs to bend the edges of the metal blade into a cup, inwards, on both sides and the top of the blade (2 mm from the edges).

Great idea to do a comparison of the baits which included an underwater video of the individual actions with the respective sounds. An overhead angle of view might be easier to obtain if you could perform demonstrations in a more controlled environment such as in a swimming pool. Nonetheless, you have provided an excellent video.

Hey Tyler speaking of bladed jigs and their hunting action, or lack of it. I was wondering if you have found yourself using the Hybrid Hunter instead of bladed jig in dirty water or on days where wind is an issue. I have had a tremendous amount of success throwing the HH where i would traditionally throw a jackhammer. Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

Great video. I wasn't crazy about the clickbaits rise. When it comes to bladed jigs I only throw jackhammers....Rayburn is flooded right now over 10ft...been pitching brush. A lot of the lake has 50+ yards of flooded brush 8-12ft deep up into where the banks used to be...I throw jackhammers in the lanes all around the brush using a destroyer p5 blade...it’s only 6’8 so it’s super accurate and skips under over hangs very well...anyway I also pitch it. Caught a bunch of 5+ pound LMBs pitching the jack hammer with a super brush hog as a trailer. It kinda does it all. I’ve really widened my range with a chatterbait this year.

Will they work if you don’t own a boat
@williamhbonnie55142 жыл бұрын
I'm not a pro like Tyler but I fish a lot of chatterbaits. They will definitely work without a boat. The big problem with most bladed jigs is how easy and often they hang up when fishing around wood and sometimes rock. My best areas to fish it is in and around grass or weeds. You have to be extra careful when fishing around wood from the bank. Ponds are usually low risk and easier to fish without hangups. Even fishing heavy grass from the bank, I would recommend using 20lbs test line. I usually use 15lbs test when fishing from a boat where I can retrieve it. Hope this helps a little. Good luck when youve got a bait in the water.

I’ve been huge on chatters before many knew about them when so traveled to lake fork younger..imparting the movement and couldn’t agree more on trailers in other video, ima a huge jackhammer fan personally and Thunder cricket just hasn’t done me as well and goo fans looks good for murky water like my homie lake if slower retrieve and the shimmy..might try a cpl out with my load of white/white grey green pumpkin or the Bret Hite delight color to red fire craw and black blue! I can get some hunting action on the jack hammer with just light sweep of rod and get back to my good Josef position reeling the slack as it falls and I’d say 70 plus pct of my bites come when I’m either deflecting, twitching or sweeping slowly and yo yo retrieve seems to work well in my timber filled rip rap and country rock murky home lake I’ve noticed the chatterbaits works from dale hollow clear water to stained to murky just fine !!! I just love striking’s and goats by z-man but my fav has to be the Razorshadz/zako by z-man/Gary Y they work and catch donkeys !!!! Especially spring and fall but they can work year around and agree that 1/2 oz 5ft deeper 3/4th out in 12 plus and 3/8 shallow I couldn’t agree more On the video great words of wisdom and just reconfirms I’m using right rod and reel set ups to like size max is 20 usually like a good 17lb but I’m a ky boy so unless around thick timber 17 or super clear I’ll go down hair more but mainly 20 on my home lake to stained. Great wisdom I’m liking your videos and sending em to partners kinda learning so hope it helps
