I like Bret and the undertaker aka mark calaway because they are honest. They are the old school. He misses his brother Owen so much you can see it. You are the best there is they best that was and the best that ever will be . :)

yes that is what I'm saying bret is one of the few people in the biz that stayed true to himself to the end, right wrong or indifferent, he never turned away from what he said, nor did he go crawling back to vince for a paycheck

I think Bret's best promos was when he was a heel in 97 bashing the states. He even said those were some fun days being the great Canadian patriot.

I just watched Landsberg's interviews w/ Hart, Jim Ross and Paul Heyman. Tonight was my first intro to the host, and although he has a quirk w/ jumping in on answers from guests, he does do an amazing job w/ asking some great questions. That, along with what seems to be a nice working knowledge on the history and dynamics of pro wrestling has me in favor of the host.

Bret Hart took the wrestling thing seriously. He wasn't just an entertainer and a lackey. On the other hand, Vince is the boss and you do what the boss tells you to do unless your contract gives you enough power. After all Bret has said about WCW what he doesn't realize is that he made a major contribution to putting that company out of business. He was the virus that Vince injected into WCW after the screwjob. WCW didn't have a clue what to do with him. Vince knew that.

The arguments about who's better amuse me. It's like the arguments under music videos... Brett Hart was a great technical wrestler, but I thought his matches tended to be well executed bores. Ric Flair was a very limited wrestler, but he was able to work around that. There are two major parts of wrestling: the drama (built on writing and promos) and the action (in-ring performance). Both guys had strengths and flaws; who you prefer depends on what you value.

his eldest brother david died in a hotel room in japan in circumstances still unsure. then his brother mike commited suicide after he considered his wrestling career a failure. his brother kerry, who has a run in wwf, shot himself in the chest as he was about to be involved in charges of drug use. his youngest brother chris also committed suicide as his wrestling career never really took off at all. pretty tragic family.

@Brodie73m he eased into it bro. he said the same thing after getting into the WWE Hall of Fame a couple of years ago. All he did was a Byte This! interview with Todd Grishem. Now he's conferable enough to do TV. You can't jump down someones throat because they change their mind. A lot worse can happen if you "stay the course" with no real reason to.

That's probably part of it, although usually they do title changes on Pay Per View. So probably a bit of both. I think Bret would have jobbed in Montreal to ANYBODY except for HBK. Either way I still think Bret should have just dropped it. BUT he did have "creative control" in his contract. Who knows, maybe it was all a work anyway? :)

uhh bret was against the whole attitude era man. He was against DX and all the sex, swearing, immature humor, extreme violence, etc... he wanted wrestling to stay more family friendly. The whole attitude era was one of the reasons bret started feeling uncomfortable and thats where a lot of problems began.

More than anything, I'm waiting for the Bret Hart interviewer who has the balls to point out just how absurd Bret is for being so upset about Montreal. Everybody indulges his melodrama. For once I'd like to see somebody challenge him if only to hear his response so maybe I could understand...because I don't.

HBK didn't carry the Attitude Era. Bret and Shawn started it off. After the Screwjob, HBK was having back problems until WM 14 where he retired, and Austin took the role as the leading man. Bret would've fitted in the Attitude Era cause he along with DX started it off in the first place. But I disagree with you in Michaels being the one who carried the Attitude Era. He didn't get the whole spotlight after Bret left cause Austin was getting a big push.
