Bret Hart comments on divorce of Macho Man Randy Savage and Elizabeth.

I heard that when Elizabeth died, Savage was very upset. They had been divorced for some time by then, but I think a part of him still cared deeply for her. It is tragic the way she died.

I think it would've been weird if he hadn't been upset. Like you said, I'm sure part of him still cared about and maybe even loved her, so I can't begin to imagine how he felt.

It's like that sometimes. I think Savage and Liz never really stopped loving each other. Even after they were divorced. It's sad that although they really loved each other, at the end they were not meant to be.

@@kaylynowens2981 I agree. He loved her enough to believe that she was the one for him and vice versa. Love is the most powerful uncontrollable emotion I can think of. I believe that the divorce in 92 was a mutual one, but; they always cared about each other.
@isitoveryet95255 жыл бұрын
@@marcusbarnes6032 I don't think it was really mutual. Dark Side Of The Ring did an episode on them, and I guess she just packed her bags & headed for Miami because she didn't like how controlling he was. They definitely still cared about eachother, MM was the one that brought Elizabeth into WCW and helped get her a pretty nice contract, but I don't think he wanted the divorce at all.

Rick Rude's advice to a wrestler once was that you should never talk about the business to your wife. Never have her around the the other guys. Just keep her out of it completely. Is that a bit possessive or whatever? Perhaps. Did Rude's marriage suffer? Not at all. Rude is widely praised as a bad ass and one of a kind type man.

Randy Savage (Poffo) was very protective of Miss Elizabeth (Hulette) Perhaps a little too protective, yes I get why Randy felt the need, especially with a locker room full of other wwe superstars, Randy didn’t trust anyone when it came to Elizabeth in and out of the ring, but the question is did he also not trust Elizabeth around the other superstars? When Elizabeth went and worked with Hulk Hogan for a short while, I’m sure that Randy must’ve been seething, but when Randy started working with Sensational Sherri Martel (Russell) she was only to happy to let Randy work with another woman, because it gave her a break from the limelight, Elizabeth could go and do her own thing and meet her friends, when Elizabeth did return after Wrestlemania VII things went back to normal, with Randy controlling her every move, and getting suspicious every time another superstar tried to talk to Elizabeth, after a while the cracks began to show, by the time she’d arrived in WCW they had separated, the summerslam was actually a renewal of their vows in a vain attempt to save their marriage, but I think the damage had already been done, a year or two later they divorced, what I’d like to know is who divorced who, who filed for divorce? When Elizabeth was no longer working with Randy, she became a totally different person, remember she joined the nWo long before Randy did, began dating Lex Luger, she came out of her shell and wasn’t as demure as she was around Randy, it such a shame that she got involved with a complete asshole like Lex Luger and she paid the ultimate price. To Randy’s credit he tried to protect Elizabeth against the likes of Lex Luger the only way he knew how, perhaps if he’d done things a little differently and not been so controlling, she might’ve stayed with Randy and perhaps they might still both be alive today and perhaps married, we’ll never know. May God rest their souls.

It's never been pointed out when speaking of this issue that many wrestlers (including Bret Hart) cheated on their wives and had a road life full of girlfriends. I've heard a lot of good things about Randy Poffo and that he was a genuinely sweet, overall decent guy but it seems he had his issues. There was clearly a lot of insecurity on his part and with all due respect to him while Elizabeth was a beautiful women he wasn't exactly the best looking of guys. He perhaps thought she'd leave him for another better looking guy when in fact she loved him so much that would never be the case. The fact as well that the marriage lasted only a year or so seems to be further evidence to the fact that his jealousy and his possessiveness drove her away. At least there's some comfort in know that he seemed to eventually find happiness in his second marriage, all be it for a short time before the world was robbed of him all too soon. I'd like to think he eventually overcame his personal issues and learned from his past mistakes which brought hum some joy in his life.

Without comment specifically about this event, people have a misconception of what the phrase “person of interest” actually means. Subconsciously too many people think it means “we wanna call them a suspect but we don’t have enough evidence to make that stick” person of interest could simply be someone who may have seen something but doesn’t even realize its relevance. For example guy in a red coat comes out of a bathroom with a ski mask on and robs a store. Cops review the footage and can’t find a good picture of his face before he goes into the bathroom BUT they get. REALLY good picture of another guy in a green tank top who goes into the bathroom before red jacket does and leaves both the bathroom and the store before the robbery. Green tank top may have gotten a good look at red jackets face, maybe spook to him. Green tank top is now a person of interest

I saw Savage wrestle Yokozuna in the early 90s in Stockton CA and after the show we saw him outside with his rent-a-car signing autographs. When he got in the car a guy asked why doesn`t his wife come around here? And before he closed the door he said, "We divorced." Everyone was like, "Awwww!" He than closed the door and drove away. Me and other waved and he waved back.

You worked wwe? Im sorry if I find that hard to believe, mainly because I have to believe that most wwe employees can actually write a grammatically correct paragraph. UFC may be unscripted, but with the amount of godawful, boring matches they put out, they might want to reconsider that.

Despite the negative feedback on this interview, quite honestly, I think Bret was answering the questions and trying to see what the situation was like in others' point of view. Don't forget, he was married to the mother of his four children for a long time before the marriage ended--no, I'm not putting him or any other wrestler on a pedestal. I did have to agree with what he said about "somebody constantly being in your face;" that can apply for people who are not in the wrestling or any type of show business. I mentioned in another video that there were too many sources that spoke of Randy Savage's mistreating Elizabeth...I can't help but notice those who defend or otherwise excuse that behavior are MEN...typical.

Think it worked well up to a point. They were a compelling onscreen couple and had some decent storylines. But I guess you could say that the marriage may have lasted longer if they hadn't been working together in the biz but who knows. Personally I think I preferred Macho with Sherri as an onscreen pairing.

Randy Savage is an Incel who couldnt get laid and he behaves like a TFL’er who lashes out at women because they like Alpha Males better so they picked Hogan over Savage, it’s for their sanity and well being that they’re safer with Hogan than Incel Man TFL Savage.

The only one to blame is savage himself. He used a gimmick and he loved the wrestling business more than his wife. He picked someone really beautiful and he had her manage him...why? Obviously to get over in the industry. She was also obviously easy to control, being locked up in rooms and told not to talk to people etc...who does that? A dog owner maybe...the guy was a narcissist and we do have to come to terms with that. It’s not Hogan, Nobbs or anyone else’s fault...Savage put her in that situation...for his own gain. I’ve always been a savage fan but we do have to call a spade a spade

Unfortunately when you love a woman it is natural emotion to be super jealous and paranoid if your girl is talking to another man, it is a shame they did divorce because I think Liz would be alive today if she and Randy were still married
@ferox9655 жыл бұрын
No it isn't. A little jealousy, sure...but not super jealous and paranoid. If you are super jealous and paranoid, the problem is with you. If you have problems with excessive jealousy or paranoia, don't date until you have that straightened out. It won't last.

If I could name just one instance in which a wrestler allowing his wife to travel with him everywhere he goes did not end in a divorce, that would be Jimmy Garvin and Precious. Speaking of which, I sometimes wish that Randy Savage and Elizabeth would have gotten together with Garvin and Precious during the angle in which Ric Flair claimed that Elizabeth was his before she was with the Macho Man. Garvin and Precious had a somewhat similar angle with Flair in the NWA about four years earlier.

Don't know why Macho was so paranoid. I know we only saw her on screen persona, but she really didn't seem the type to be cheating. Obviously I could be wrong but she seemed timid and lady like. Although this could of been due to being scared of Macho, if the stories are to be believed...

Fingaz Mc Looks are deceiving lol but any woman can fall to charm. Have you ever thought why she ended up with Lex Luger that used drugs and probably introduced her to that stuff. As honest as Liz was these men in the wrestling business are predators and they will f*** anything that moves let alone a beaty like Liz. Its a hard business and to keep your wife there you would be asking for it and Savage should have never kept her around in the wrestling world only for special ocasions.

It could work nowadays because there are significantly more female wrestlers. Back then, as far as women, Liz could hang out with Sherry and that's it. If she wanted to go do something while on a tour stop, she went with Randy or some other guy that would bone her in a heartbeat.
