The Packers deserve credit for being prepared to replace a legend with another all time great. Most legends retire and the team goes in the toilet.

Its mostly luck to be honest. They just had the quality QB to have another one where they were prepping. Most teams don't do that until the last 2 years of the QBs career. But choosing a franchise QB is incredibly difficult or so it seems from looking at all the QBs in the league

Anthony Quintanilla I'm a die hard Packer fan and most importantly a die hard fan of NFL (Excluding Godell 😉) There was luck involved yes but. Packers front office and coaching and scouting is outta this world. They have always built through the drafts and not trades. It's like getting a puppy. You can fine tune it to your offensive/defensive strategies. I know I'm die hard but I would say that if I wasn't. Favre even said in this interview he was surprised they didn't do it sooner. They were waiting for the right guy. People also say Rodgers is good because he sat behind Favre. Weeeelll idk. As Favre states. It wasn't his job to take him under his wing. They are very similar though. When it comes to making things happen when it shouldn't have. And the deep threats. Jordy Nelson, Drafted by Pack. Donald Driver, Drafted by Pack. Greg Jennings, Drafted by Packers. Clay Mathews, Drafted by Pack. Javon Walker, Drafted by Packers. Edie Lacy,Bubba Franks, AJ Hawk,Nick Barnett, BJ Raji, Haha Clinton Dix (Roll Tide Baby!) I love my Packers. Lol sorry.

When Brett "retired" then came back, it divided a franchise, a city, a state, a fan base. There were some who said Brett was "holding the Packers hostage" with the retirement stuff. Others believed since he(Favre) was our "Legend" he had the right. But when Green Bay WOULDN'T let Brett back, then sh*t got REAL. Fans became irate. People HATED the Packers front office. They hated A.Rodgers who had NOTHING to do with any of it. Rodgers got booed. Favre ends up in New York. I myself became a Jets fan. Odd yeah!?!? I had a #4 Jets away jersey. I didn't watch the Packers that year very much. I fell into the "angry" group. Then Brett left NY, and went to MINNESOTA.!?!?!?!?!?!? WTFH?? I was now confused. But I loved Favre and when Minnesota whipped GB twice the first year I was, well it was bittersweet. As time went on and more info was released, the "revenge" factor Favre had going was a bit much. Again the fans were divided. But seeing Favre in Purple was too much for some. When Favre lost the playoff game at the end of his 1st season with the Vikings people said HAH KARMA. Was it? ??????? Who knows. I know this....BOTH Green Bay's front office AND AND AND AND Brett Favre handled the entire thing poorly. Because of it A.Rodgers got booed when he had nothing to do with any of it. One of the most LOYAL FAN BASES became a mess and honestly IT SUCKED. Those three years sucked to be a Packer fan.

Edster III I felt the same way as you. It wasn't about "not letting him back" necessarily; the front office blunder was refusing to trade him at first. They had chances to work out deals knowing full well Favre was getting anxious about returning but decided to try to persuade him to stay retired. Sticking with Rodgers was only controversial for a couple weeks because of management dragging their feet on those deals (which led us to believe GB was keeping Brett since it was obvious he wanted to play). Bypassing the Tampa trade in favor of the Jets deal made relations worse, & again, the Tampa trade probably goes through (to reunite Favre w/ Gruden) had the front office just accepted earlier in the summer that he was interested in playing. Some of that falls on Brett for sure, but Thompson & Murphy made things tougher for everyone than they needed to be, including Rodgers, with their whole "Brett we can't picture you playing with anyone else but GB" game (while clearly wanting to move on)
@williamhermann66352 жыл бұрын
The Packers handled it brilliantly. What else were they supposed to do? He couldnt play in the cold anymore and had become an annual distraction with his will he/wont he retirement talk. So he announced his retirement and the Packers moved on with a qb who was ready to play. What many fans cant comprehend is the decision makers dont think like fans. They dont think with their hearts. They think like people whos careers and livelihoods are dependent on the decisions they make, as it should be. They're not going to leave the franchise's well-being up in the air with a qb whos commitment to playing was in serious question at the time. Brett's the one who acted like a brat which culminated with him playing for the Vikings out of revenge. I have never forgiven him for that and I likely never will.

I believe Favre realizes now that he should've done more reflecting and thinking of whether or not he was done. Seems like he didn't do enough or any at all. I also think that GB should have given him a deadline. That way, both of them know when it will for certain be over for him and when they will hand over the reigns (to Rodgers). So, yeah - mistakes on both sides.

Brett is a very emotional man. Played with great passion. Gave terse remarks to reporters after games. Montana had to go to the Chiefs. Peyton Manning went to the Broncos. Brett was doing well with the Jets, until injuries started adding up. The Vikings game, throwing the long touchdown into the end zone to win the game was great. The Saints game = bounty pay. Sean Peyton should have been kicked out of the NFL for life for doing such a thing. Vikings should have won and gone to the Super Bowl. Broncos Super Bowl = Shannahan dirty tricks, Davis as a decoy with a concussion. Packers should have won. Now Brett sees Brady/Belichek success. Brett’s high school team won the state championship, a wonderful achievement under the guidance of Brett. Stick with that. A family man, Deanna always worried about Brett on the field getting injured. Ted Thompson moves and talks like a man suffering from head injury. Montana got involved with race horses, never hear from him.

If they wanted him they would have allowed to take his time as the Broncos did.

Do you remember how the 2007 championship game ended? Packers didnt want Favre back for a reason, and it wasnt just because Rodgers was ready either. He couldnt play in the cold anymore. @@williamhermann6635 🤣, dude they asked for a decision much earlier than previous years, for a reason. John Elway got till June back in 98 to decide. This isn't rocket science. They knew if they forced a decision he wouldn't commit and they could move on. Will Blackman again said they all knew they forced the early decision to move on to 12. And as far as the early 2000s go, they had pieces from Wolf, but the teams were massively flawed because Sherman never added talent after he took over. The defenses weren't good and all he had was driver to throw to except 04 when Walker busted out but they went 10-6 only for a reason and fell apart the following year for a reason. Those teams were a house of cards. A few injuries and 4-12 happens.

Salary caps dictate that a team can't really afford to keep two top QB's on the payroll (with one of them being on the bench) or the rest of the team will be under-paid and some of the best players might walk. So, either Favre or Rodgers had to go for the Packers to remain competitive. Given that Favre was past his prime and didn't have many seasons left in him, it was an easy choice to make. This entire scenario could have been avoided though if Aaron Rodgers would have been drafted in the top 3, like he should have been.
@williamhermann66352 жыл бұрын
Its easy to say Rodgers shouldve been a top 3 pick now but he fell for a lot of reasons. The Packers didnt just get lucky as so many believe. He was immature and extremely raw when he was drafted. He needed every bit of those 3 years on the bench to learn his craft and finish growing up. Sure he was talked about as a potential top pick, but literally nobody expected him to become the generation player he became. And I mean nobody. That only happened because he was drafted to a great team with the stability and patience to develop him properly. If Rodgers was drafted by any other team we likely wouldnt even remember his name.

@@truethat15 . First of all the Vikings beat the Packers ass not only once but twice in 2009 when he was the QB for MN. A 99.5 QB rating . The highest of his career . The Packers got nothing that year . And when the Vikings went to the Division championship game that year against the Saints ( not the Packers look it up) were found out to have been cheaters and tried ( but not succeeded ) to take him down . Bounty gate if you will remember . Had that cheating have been punished so clearly as it should have been at the time of the game if would have been the Vikings and not the Saints who went to the Super bowl . So what do MN get out of it ??? They went to the division champ game ---- not the Packers and they were cheated out of going to the big game . Look it up . Then not only did the Saints not win ( they were punished the next year ,fined etc,,,,and now apparently every year after for Bounty gate ) But Brett never was carted off that field that night ...he walked off every time . ( oh and yeah just want to remind you that it was the Vikings and not the Packers that year ...sorry ) and not only that but Brett will be the guy who went to 2 Superbowls ....not Aaron .....

@AnEn Are you stupid. The Saints bounty under Greg William 2009 through 2011. In that time the Vikings and Brett played them that one time in the playoffs, you know who played Greg Williams and that bounty Program the first game of the 2011 season. That's right, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Perhaps know what you are fucking talking about.

Rodgers was ready to go, Favre should have been released by TT out of respect for what he did for the whole State of WI. He should have been able to go wherever he wanted. Karma was served on McCarthy though when Rodgers stabbed him in the back in the end and TT was basically fired.

I wish he would of sat on the bench and mentored aaron better. This way he would have always been in Green Bay. Brett is one of the best QBs in history, with the most hart out there. He should have finished on the Packers. We were his team, and will always love him.

Favre is used to having things handed to him in the NFL. From his early days in Green Bay to all the way to 2007 retirement, and subsequent re-retirement with Vikings. If you can't and don't want to retire, the learn to keep your mouth shut immediately after the off season. Made a huge press conference, cried about it, came back a few months later. Did the same with the Vikings.... and had to screw up the entire Vikings organization (2 QBs put as backups... not that there is anything wrong with ever disrupting the vikings organization :D) I used to love Favre, now he's nothing but a joke.

I love Brett Favre he's one of the greatest if not the greatest quarterback ever! And I don't want to really point this out and make it seem like I'm picking up Brett far but I'm not going to sit here and play Blind because I also and still do suffer from vicodin addiction I do take it due to my back injury neck and shoulders basically cervical thoracic and Lumbar I have six discs that are bulging and just generated I've had rhizotomy symphysis injections where they burn the nerves to stop the pain I take meloxicam clonazepam for my anxiety and panic attacks I take Flexeril for muscle spasms and cramps and I take Vicodin 10.325 mg and I am prescribed 180 pills a month so I can understand everything to the T where and what Brett Favre saying! But because at this present time I have been on a two-week Journey backing off these medications you cannot cold-turkey these medications is bad for your health that can cause a heart attack and because I suffered a super ventricular tachycardia 9 years ago that's why I don't cold turkey and plus I cannot it is hard I am not seeking medical attention I'm trying to do this on my own Brett far is and has inspired me. But if you look at his body language his hand movements his facial expressions the way he sitting it looks like it may have and will have a long-term effect on them and that's scary and I hope I'm wrong but my eyes tells me that Brett Favre may still be suffering with this disease this addiction although he may not be taking any kind of pain medication but his mind his program to what the medication just like my mind and body is right now I went from taking 6 a day to now I'm taking four and a half a day and waiting 6 hours for the next dosage when I was taking them every 4 hours it's hard and just going from 4 hours to 6 hours there's a two-hour difference between the fourth and sixth hour my body is begging me for the dosage and that's sometimes I take half a pill two kind of kill with my body is asking me for instead of giving a full dose I give it a partial dose and it helps leave flexerils helps with that but it's hard as f*** I've been taking these medications for over 15 years and it's hard I just hope that what I see in bread for in this video is just the after fact of what remains from what he went through through his career and in in his life. and if Brett Favre if you ever see this message or this text and you are going to that you have the means you have the money to seek professional counseling and treatment I'm not saying to take any more medicines but if there is that little thought in in this mine where his body orn and the thoughts is saying I just want to take one pill to ease this pain don't do it it's not worth it brother you're young and you're strong you have family and you have reasons for not taking any more of this medicine that kills people we all love you we all support you and thank you for being honest about this addiction and what you went through I'll be praying for you and I hope anybody to see this message or this text prays for me also because I've been praying for a long time and it seems like the more I pray the more I want to take this medication or I do take this medication sometimes I run out and I have in the past and I've gone out and bought some off the streets and they're going for $10 a f****** pill and when you buy 30 or 40 that's a goddamn truck payment Lexi no 300-400 sometimes even $500 a month and I'm already getting 180 pills a month so Tech on worst-case scenario 50 pills more that's 230 pills that's almost like taking 8 and 1/2 pills per day but I will be honest it's been over seven months I have not done that and I'm proud I can say that but I'm still battling my addiction without seeking medical and professional attention I'm trying to do this on my own at my pace as my body responds to how I'm doing it and sometimes I sleep 14 15 hours a day on purpose so that I don't take any pills while I am asleep but when I wake up I have to take one or one and a half or two pills just to get energy in my body just like an upper and then it lasts for like two-and-a-half 3 hours and then it makes you stay up all night it doesn't make you sleepy the way it does at first when you start taking this medication this medication when your body is addicted to it when you take it and gives you a it's like an upper or a testosterone where you feel strong and you can do this and you can do that and you want to do this and you go do that but once it wears off your sluggish and sometimes when I see my doctor they give me a questionnaire paper where they asked if you feel energy when you take this pills do you lose any sleep over these pills or does it cause you to lose sleep it's horrible because when you take two pills it can make you stay up 12:16 hours and you can take a 24 hour dosage of medication within six to eight hours of those 12 to 16 hours that you're awake and then you sleep for another 14 15 16 hours and then you're when you wake up you wake up because your body's aching your shoulders are hurting from being asleep in the same position then you take the pill you take one or two you take the clonazepam you take the Flexeril you take the meloxicam and all those combined together at one time which you can take my doctor has told me I can I'll take it and within 15-20 minutes I feel well rested with Lottery energy I go out and cut the yard wash my truck do laundry clean the house wash clothes I do everything but once it wears off I'm f***** I got to take another dose and the thing is when you take a dose of this medication if you're hungry and you eat that feeling that you get from taking this medication goes away so when I take the medication I don't need until it wears off and then I eat and then I have to wait like six or seven hours before I can take another one because if I don't wait that long I won't feel the effect that I'm looking for you're chasing the first High or are you looking for that chemical release that your brain does when you're on drugs I don't know the correct name of it I can't remember right now it's like the euphuria effect there's some chemical that your brain releases into your system and it just makes you feel like you're freaking 18 to 24 years old you know it's like you're full of to testosterone you you're full of energy you're full of life everything is good everything is dandy everything is perfect that's how I feel I'm not going to lie maybe this full help someone else just like Brett far he's helping me with this by listening to me this video so if anybody wants to respond back to me give me any feedback or any opinion that's fine I may get ridiculed, and get slammed I make it made fun of I don't care I knew that before I posted this up and I'm ready follows negative remarks I'll use that as fuel to help me beat this addiction so all comments and responses are welcomed! thank you and have a blessed day may God be with you and your family and everyone in the whole world!!
