As a life-long Vikings fan, it wasn't easy seeing Favre in a Vikings uniform after so many years as an opponent. His first year as a Viking was magical and he definitely didn't play as old as he really was. I'm happy that he has mended his relationship with the Packers although I know some Packer fans that are still upset with him playing for the Vikings.
@ihcterra4625
@ihcterra4625 2 жыл бұрын
As a Packer fan, after Favre stuck it to the fans and tried to sabotage the Packers, I'd have been happy if Favre never came back to the Packers and retired as a Viking. Let them retire his number. Piss on him. I was sick of him in 2005 and 2006 when he sandbagged the team over Mike Sherman getting demoted and fired. I though Favre and his chronic choking was a perfect match for the Vikings and their post season curse. 2009 ended exactly the way I predicted it would.

Too bad it's illegal for the Vikings to do well defensively post season 😭
@ihcterra4625
@ihcterra4625 2 жыл бұрын
@James Andrews Favre was pissed that Sherman was demoted and fired for mismanaging the team. For drafting guys like Punter BJ Sander, Ahmad "oven mitts" Carrol, "too small" Jamal Adams and signing "Joe Johnson for $3.2 mil per sack. Favre sandbagged the team to get cut in '05 and '06. When that didn't work, after he sandbagged the Packers by ignoring a wide open 1st down throw to a TE and threw a late weak pass to a covered Driver to choke away the NFCCG at home, he fake retired. He was never asked to retire. He was asked what his plans were so the team could make roster and contract decisions. He fake retired with the plan of waiting until camp started and then coming back to put the Packers over the cap and roster limits. Thompson had room on the cap for Favre's unplanned 12 mil, and got a roster exemption, so they didn't have to cut him and he could come back. That is when Favre proved it was all a scam to break his contract by demanding a trade. The comeback wasn't about playing, it was about getting out of a contract. When he was playing for the Jets, he went to the rest of the NFC North and offered to decode Mccarthy's playbook. The Bears said no, but the Lions accepted the help. We know he was already talking to Chilly and Bevil in Minnesota because they admitted it. The fake retirement thing was probably Chilly's idea in the first place. Favre choked in the post season whenever the game was on the line and the ball was in his hands. The Vikings deserved him and in 2009, they got just that. Favre isn't even the 4th best QB in Packer history. Anyone who really knows Packer history well would tell you that. Just because you were an impressionable child when Fave was playing, doesn't mean you remember him accurately.

@@lovedc4ever678 I thought it was a fair trade. The 2 losses by the Packers, that didn't keep them out of the playoffs, helped build a feeling of inevitability and destiny for Vikings fans. They were sure it was finally the year they were going to win it all. They could smell Super Bowl glory in the air. Every win against a bad opponent, every game that turned on a dropped Favre INT reinforced the expectation of finally getting the ring... only to have their hearts sink into their stomachs as they realize Favre did it again. Another soul crushing interception on a stupid play. Only from such lofty heights is the dull thud of your hopes and dreams hitting the ground so satisfying. It was indeed a magical season.

Anyone who watched the Minnesota Vikings vs Saints need to realize that Favre did not lose that game. Yes he threw the interception at the end but the vikings were killing the saints all game until Adrian Peterson fumbled a handful of times and whoever that receiver was that fumbled I believe at the 10 maybe 20 yard line. Favre will always be a top 3 player to me because I remember when he threw that touchdown pass to Andre Rison in the super bowl at the start. It was so magical for my 7 year old brain. The Vikings have a long history of post season disappointment, almost like they were cursed or something. Losing 4 Super Bowls, Gary Anderson etc. Going out and getting a QB with the most post season chokes in the history of the NFL is kind of asking for it. When the season was on the line and the ball was in Favre's hands, you knew he was going to throw a pick. It ended exactly as I predicted. I thought they deserve each other.

The pass was intercepted. Giants ran three plays got five yards and then kicked a field goal and won. Apparently after right the game McCarthy went nuts and told Bret he was done in GB. From my understating Bret was told not to throw the ball. The weather was at least ten below and the Giants had more fight. I was at the game. If you watch Bret's final GB I'm retiring speech go look at his wife and see who she is staring at. She was pissed. Have a good one.

Brett Favre is quoted as saying it is possible that throughout his entire NFL career he has suffered thousands of concussions. "The human head is not designed to do what rams do," said Favre. It will be a very dark day in the NFL if his legacy becomes one of CTE

If you had any idea the dumpster fire Favre pulled the Packers from, you’d understand how a few flirts with retirement were no big deal.

Nah bro say what really happened in that Vikings-Saints game. Bountygate and the refs finessed us out of a super bowl. The refs literally admitted they missed the call on live tv the day after the game.

As hard as it might be to remember, this is a career and paycheck for players. Loyalty to self and family wins out over team and fans sometimes. Who know what his addiction did to his finances and marriage. No matter the team, it was great to watch him play when it wasn’t against my team, like Brady

I don’t get where people think it’s so bad what he did, packers wanted to go with Rodgers and Bret Farve wasn't going to be a back up if the packers didn’t release him. I don’t see this as a big deal.

This isn’t really dark….it’s just Brett farves classic story. I can think of a few darker moments involving text messages. NOW THAT is a story the nfl wants you to forget. Not hating I love farve, but I kept waiting for “Farves darkest secret the nfl wants you to forget” then the video ended and I still don’t understand what part of this video was dark. It felt like watching a pg movie that was pretending to be r rated.

Brett Favre taught me a valuable lesson that your perception of a celebrity could be totally wrong. I don't put any stock in how players behave outside of the four quarters of the game. A player can have any attitude they want when they aren't on the field as long as it doesn't translate on the field.
