Thanks to everyone for watching, and your kind words. I just got some new lights, I'll have another go with the green screen once I get everything figured out. I'm really glad that I've been playing long enough that the recording part comes easy for me, using good old Adobe Audition for all my audio. It's this attempting to learn to be a cinematographer that has the steep learning curve, filming on a Canon M-50 mirrorless camera, figuring out all it's proper settings for the task at hand, and now I have the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. That is some complex software, but I know it can achieve the results I'm after. I see a lot of trial and error tinkering in the near future. I've watched days of hours of KZbin videos about cameras, lights, green screens, and the Adobe software. Hope you'll check out my next green screen attempt! Thanks again!

Yes, I have two students with the Red Reign Apocalypse. I like the Apocalypse, but the back does not have the beautiful wood grain or the multi wood neck. Actually, I just found a dream guitar that I've been searching for, for years. I just got this Schecter back from my Luthier with a full fret dress/level and setup. I was about to put it on Reverb.com for sale. Do you have any interest. This thing is perfect.

@@BrettFunkGuitar Excuse me for asking but why did this sls elite need a fret dress and leveling? I ask because i assumed that s.s. frets are leveled and dressed from the factory in S. Korea? I was contemplating getting the evil twin version (non floyd rose) guitar so i am curious. Tks,Tim Awesome player you are btw!!👍
@BrettFunkGuitar3 жыл бұрын
I love Schecter guitars. I own quite a few. However, straight out of the box, EVERY one I've owned needed a Fret Level & Dress. I have a wicked good luthier. He just came back to Colorado after working as the top quality assurance guy at Suhr. After he gets his hands on them, the Schecters play perfect. He told me that it's the way they press in the frets that is the issue, plus the trip from South Korea to the US affects them a bit too, I'm certain. I agree that any guitar over 1k should be perfect out of the box, but it's just not been my experience. So I always figure an extra $250.00 for a Fret Level, Dress, and Full Setup into the cost of any new guitar I buy, and my stable is stable. :D Also, Colorado is really mean on guitars. The humidity and temperature flux like you wouldn't believe. So I keep all my guitars in my basement studio, hanging on the walls, but the room is always between 40-50% humidity. During the summer, this room just naturally stays between 40-50%, but I have to run a humidifier all winter long. Hope that helps.

I usually play clean tones through the neck pickup, and that is the pickup of the sustainiac driver, and it's an either/or situation. In other words, if you are using the sustainiac pickup as a "sustainiac driver" then it cannot be used as a pickup, so when you engage the sustainiac driver the guitar automatically defaults to using the "bridge pickup", even if the pickup switch is set to the neck position. I hope that makes sense. It took me some time to figure that out. If you're wanting to play clean sounds using the neck pickup, you cannot use the sustainiac as a driver at the same time. But you can roll off the highs on the bridge pickup to get some really smooth sounding clean sustainiac driven sounds. I just finished up a CD with a buddy of mine and I used the sustainiac driver with a "clean" tone from the bridge pickup with the highs rolled off a bit. It sounds like a keyboard. It's pretty cool.
@petermatos46133 жыл бұрын
@@BrettFunkGuitar I don't understand your comment here. You said when you engage the sustainiac driver the guitar automatically defaults to using the bridge pickup? I thought the sustainiac was the neck pickup? Can you elaborate? I just ordered the Schecter Banshee Mach7 from Guitar Center and they are apparently out of stock on it so I will have to cancel my order and get it from somewhere else. I was considering getting the Schecter Elite 7 FR-S in either that color or the lighter one whichever is available. They both look nice. What do you recommend here? I think the Mach7 FR-S looks awesome too but I do kinda like nice wood and a shinier finish... Would you buy this guitar again?
@BrettFunkGuitar3 жыл бұрын
@@petermatos4613 Sure thing. Let me see if I can make more sense of this to you. Your bridge pickup will be a normal bridge pickup, either active or passive, depending on the model you choose. The sustainiac driver that sits in the neck position looks like a dual coil humbucking pickup, but in reality it is not. It's actually two different components put into what looks like a humbucker. 1. The sustainiac driver itself is the half that has the silver on it (nearest the neck). That is the part that creates the magnetic field that causes all your strings to begin vibrating. (You can actually get a single sustainiac driver. It looks like a single coil pickup, but it does nothing but create the magnetic field). 2. What looks like the inner coil (nearest the other pickup) is actually a single coil pickup. The issue is that the driver cannot be activated at the same time as the single coil pickup that is beside it. It's an either/or situation. You can use the the neck "single coil" pickup, but as soon as you activate the "sustianic driver" side of this neck unit, it automatically shuts off the single coil pickup and activates the bridge pickup. Bottom line, if the sustainiac driver is active, it is set to instantly default to the bridge pickup. I spoke to a tech at "sustainiac" and asked him why I cannot drive my neck pickup with the driver, and he said that if the driver is active and the single coil beside it was active at the same time, it would produce a loop similar to putting your microphone right up to your main PA speaker. So to avoid that issue, engage the sustainiac and your bridge pickup is active, instantly. Did that make more sense? Look at this guitar. It has only the driver half of the sustianiac in the neck position. The only thing on this guitar that will output sound is the bridge pickup, that driver has one purpose, to make the strings vibrate. Man, I'd love to have this guitar. www.pitbullaudio.com/ibanez-js1cr30-joe-satriani-signature-chromeboy-limited-edition-electric-guitar.html
@petermatos46133 жыл бұрын
@@BrettFunkGuitar thank you for that excellent explanation. I really appreciate it. Does the neck pickup have a nice mellow clean sound? I'm a big neck pickup guy and it's important to me that the neck pickup sounds good. I love the idea of the sustainiac too which is why I want this guitar along with the Floyd. It's either the mach7 FRS or the elite 7 FRS I think..what say ye?

I'm guessing you're really liking that new guitar, aren't you? I have the blue Schecter Blackjack Avenger from Sweetwater with the sustainiac. It's an amazing guitar. It definitely took me to the next level and then some. I liked it so much, I just ordered a Schecter Hellraiser with floyd rose and sustainiac tonight so I can have one for double dropped D and one for standard. I'm playing through a Hughes and Kettner Grandmesier 40 and a well used Orange 212 2x12 with vintage 30s and that seems to rock real well but when I mike the cab and run it into a focusrite interface and then into logic pro x and out through some decent quality JBL studio monitors, I can add some wicked effects to the already killer tone. The apple echo pedal is especially nice as is the phaser pedal. The echo is subtle. the phaser? Not so much. When I was recording with cakewalk 10 years ago, I was dreaming of a setup like this. I'm really just an average guitar player but with this guitar, amp, and DAW, I sound like I should be a pro.

97warlock ismyname unfortunately the Sustainiac one doesn’t come with a fixed-bridge version. Is that a big let-down for you? :)
97warlock ismyname well, actually, that is an addition to me. Well brother, I need some help, do I really need the Floyd-Rose? Having a fixed-bridge than a shitty Floyd-Rose is definitely better right, although I’m not saying that the one used on this one is bad. I actually am planning to buy my first electric guitar very soon, and, among the various options, this Schecter C-1 SLS Elite is among the top three. I would love to have Floyd-Rose because without it I might feel lonely, even for a single use, I would still be able to use it, right? But, do you think that I should save my money and get the fixed-bridge on without the Sustainiac or look for another guitar? Because, this one doesn’t include a case also, that’s also a big let-down for me. My first target is the Made in Japan Jackson RR24 in Snow White, second-hand of-course. :)

@@Acepilot1312 i honestly dont know whats best for you, i just know my days of using a tremolo are over, to me it isnt worth the hassle during string chanfes and/or tuning issues. even a top of the line floyd can go off .10 when using the bar , same with just doing bends without the bar ,can still go out slightly, but......i can play hard on a hard tail and not have issues with tuning, and string changes are way easier, to me.

The SLS Elite pickup sounds a little bit sterile compared to Schecter Apocalypse.

I'm pretty sure the Apocalypse has passive pickups. The Elite has the new Fishman fluence pickups which are active. That's probably the main difference you're hearing.

Sounds great, My Hellraiser doesn't sound that good. for some reason. Could be the no whammy, no Sustaniac and maybe the player.

I had not heard that song before, I hear the similarities in the rhythm guitar part. I played this over a backing track from SM Backing Tracks, another channel here on KZbin. kzbin.info/door/H8kUZXpl_sXEJ5fbCFJELw

Vinnie Moore

Do I know you? I ask because, I think Vinnie Moore is the top dog when it comes to instrumental guitar music. In his prime, I don't think anyone could touch him, technically, melodically, or compositionally. What a monster player.

Nice try Brett! At least its a real improvisation.
