I don't think people realize how important psychology is every leader needs to know psychology or be "good" at it to have a better chance as a good leader You understand different people's perspectives better you can tell how someone is feeling or tell what someone's about to say you can make yourself more likeable while also helping the people around you become better people and it helps you critical think better and you have better control over yourself and your emotions in all situations there's so many things psychology helps with that you can't name them all even in general categories But don't try and learn psychology if you don't understand it

A guy I had a crush on for years wanted to date me, finally. But he was open and honest and he didn't want to actually date when we started talking about it. He's not the commitment type he just want to have sex. Fair play to him. But that's not what I was pursuing and I told him that. We never dated we never had sex and we moved on. I don't view him as a bad guy he literally told me his expectations and they didn't match mine. We each moved on. Not that hard. Girls hope that even when the guy says he only wants sex after they have sex he'll change his mind. We should be teaching people to be honest with their expectations and boundaries. As a Psychology student I enjoyed this! I agree that there is a victim mentality and victim addiction in America. I personally was raised to believe I was inadequate because I was a girl and that I didn’t matter as much as a man. This message rung through family, School, and society. It was refreshing to hear that women actually hold more power than we think or in some cases are told. I personally don’t want to be a victim just because I’m a woman, and I think the accountability message is on point! We need to be responsible for the consensual choices we each make and understand what a victim really is. Women need to know they aren’t victims of society, we have a voice and just need to use it!

Women are spoon fed a victim mindset and told they should feel victimized when in reality Your lives are more valued (The Draft, and most men jumping to protect women) You control the relationship dynamic You are favored in courts with divorce and custody battles You even have better employment opportunities, a man who has more experience and education for a job is likely to get rejected in favor of having a woman (brownie points for diverse women) so they can meet a quota. Not to mention that before Roe V Wade, if a man was lucky enough to get a girl to choose to sleep with him, if he accidentally got her pregnant it was completely up to the woman if she wanted to keep the baby and force him to pay for a child he didn’t want for almost 20 years or reject taking responsibility and just kill his baby.

Even the best plans go awry. My first was definitely not planned but he probably saved my life. My third was my last planned child. I was 32. My husband and I decided 3 was perfect. I used an IUD and 5 years later, it was time to replace it. Then I was 37. It expelled itself so I went on the pill. And got pregnant, on the pill. And at 38, we had an unplanned blessing. I'm forever grateful God had a different plan than we did.

True story. Sadly, our society is not supportive of the nuclear family. It is much less practical than having two incomes. I am a stay at home mom, and my husband makes what is supposed to be a middle class income, but we sacrifice a lot for me to be home. My own mother stayed home with us until I was a teen. I am so much more grateful for what my father did to make that possible, and that was in the 90s. Nevertheless, being a mother and creating a home for your family is empowering af. In my opinion I have an incredible responsibility and I am so proud of what I have accomplished thus far. Despite having a career I loved before i had a family, my current role is my favorite. We also made the decision to homeschool, which I never imagined in a hundred years that I would be down with. It was another decision that I recommend if you’re able. The benefits we have seen are immeasurable. There are few drawbacks aside from our state having strict homeschool laws.

The problem here is that modern womens standards essentially point to; "is he 6ft? does he have a 6-figure salary? is he hung like a horse? do other women desire him? and can I take all of his shit after I divorce him for a hotter dude?" These are the standards of the VAST majority of modern, western women, regardless of political affiliation. I'm going to assume that you're NOT a feminist since you ACTUALLY have standards for yourself (if so, excellent), but you are a needle in a haystack. Men adjust - we are pliable in relation to our environments. It's no accident that the vast majority of men (like how your current husband WAS) are saying NO to marriage, much less relationships. We see the world in a far more broad view than women do, and we adjust accordingly. My daughter’s conception was a forcible act by my ex-husband. He was ridiculously abusive in every form of the word. But despite being part of what I feel is the only acceptable excuse for pregnancy termination, I chose to keep and fight for her. God rewarded me in making everything about her everything good that has ever been part of me. She saved my life, not the other way around. I suffer from severe PTSD, but at no point in the past 13 years have I ever looked at her and seen the trauma. She is a beacon of light for me and being her mom is so much of what makes me who I am. I used to be an atheist, pro-choice, career-driven, man-fearing feminist. But I then met my current husband of 8 years who adopted said daughter and has been the best dad, husband, and *man* I can imagine. I am now, by the grace of God, a fulfilled full time wife and mother. I am being made whole from my trauma because I fully embraced what my true roles are. And I am instilling that into the beautiful sweet girl that God knew I needed because it is the very least I could do.

​@@N0p3er5, I'm glad you went ahead and gave birth to the child despite your family's objections. Though, if I can give my thoughts, you should've continued to do so and kept him. You mentioned they kept threatening to make both your lives hell if you didn't give him up, so they coerced you into it. And coercion, as you may or may not be aware, is a manipulative tactic involving force or threats, so the person being coerced may start to think that the consequences of Not doing the action are worse than the consequences Of the action. (i.e. giving him up after birth) So if I had been in your place, I would 'put my foot down' and made it clear to them: "This is My life and My child that I'm pregnant with, which makes giving him up or not My decision, and My decision alone. Not. Yours." And if they were acting that way because you conceived of rape, then remind them that the act of rape itself is bad, but the child as a result isn't. Because whether a child was concieved in wedlock or out, he/she was concieved for a reason. And I wish more people would realize that.

I find it so interesting about the topic of women controlling sex, because as a woman, I can see it from the viewpoint of 'oh if I don't put out, the guy will leave me and I'll end up alone' but I also have never 'put out' because every situation made me incredibly uncomfortable. I've also watched my other friends go through this turmoil, and I also went through emotional turmoil with guys until I was told the quote- 'if he wanted to, he would.' That utterly changed my perspective on things, and after being rejected by a guy when I told him I liked him, I have felt this massive weight lift off of me that cleared up my fear of rejection but also made me realise that the red flags I saw in our differences in values mattered so so much. Now I feel a relative calmness in my dating decisions and I see that I have steadfast values and if they don't match those, then I simply move on. I thought I was just a hopeless romantic wanting to find my twin flame but I guess I'm just wired like a woman who wants commitment! I even get told by other women that they wish they had waited longer and that I'm not missing anything. I'll find my true love one day, I'm sure. :o)

I wish I had seen these conversations growing up or had parents to teach me these things about setting boundaries with men and not wasting my time with the ones who didn’t want to commit and trying to change them. I got a family cookbook that went back 4 generations recently. In part of the book there was some writing about what it was like living through the great depression in 1929 and what it was like being a homemaker. Most women back then never felt "disadvantaged" and were thrilled to share recipes and grow large gardens. They loved it, they were very self sustaining and loved the simple life. Reminds me of how we're teaching people now that they are "disadvantaged" and how long they have been teaching this ideology. It's a shame. Women are so miserable.

I have one too. My grandma started keeping it in the 1920s, one of those essay journals with the B+W speckled cover. Crumb cake, chicken casserole, how to can vegetables. Its funny because a lot of the measurements are pinches and spoons, or it just says "add milk" with no indication of how much. So you have to know what you're making to make it, if that makes sense. Its tricky.

@Bill Brasky it's really cute how even after my grandma's kids grew up and moved away she got an email so her and her sisters and friends could still email recipes back and forth. I don't even think she made most of them but she did collect them 😂 there is a key for "pinch" and "dash" etc that I found amongst her recipes but I haven't found one that says "add milk" without a measurement but I would assume that means 1/2 to 1 cup of milk or based on the consistency of what you're making (bread dough vs pancake mix for example).

@@jesswanderland Yea, pinches and dashes are basically an indication of just a light addition, to taste. "Add milk" would be for something like mashed potatoes, because thats widely variable depending on how many are to be served. In all those cases, the cook knows what they're "going for" and it's just noted so you don't forget to add it. I grew up at grandmas knee so I knew what she was doing, and how it was supposed to taste. She was more specific in baking than cooking, because baking is science and cooking is art. Having the book itself is the important part, because eventually you forget about those dishes and one day just stop making them, and they are lost to time. I once said the word "einbrenn" to an older Jewish lady I worked with and she looked at me like I had a hole in my head. "Who the hell taught you that word?" Grandma, she was German. Thats their word for thickening drippings to gravy.

Things improved by the 20th century thanks to suffrage and the women's rights movement (as Brett mentioned), but prior to that women were essentially chattel property with few to none rights and options.

In that regard, man and woman each had a role in the survival of the family AND one another, and they learned their role at the foot of their elders. Last year, I participated in the production of a documentary about a restaurant in Connecticut opened and operated by two second-wave feminists since 1977 (the documentary was about the restaurant’s 45th anniversary). The message that these two feminists preached seemed, on surface level, inspiring - these ideas about living freely, pursuing what makes you happy, not letting men define you, etc. The real tragedy was unfolded when we interviewed the daughter of one of the restaurant owners. She revealed that her mother basically abandoned her and the family in pursuit of feminist ideals and free love. She never really had a close relationship with her mother growing up. Most of their interactions were characterized by conflict and the mother putting her daughter down for not living up to her her feminist ideals. She grew up unsure of herself and unsure of how to pursue relationships with men (or if she should even do so). She didn’t even get married and have children until her 40s. Feminism destroys families when allowed to flourish unchecked, and it ultimately makes women unhappy.

Men are physically strong, women are emotionally and supportive strong. I don't know why it's hard to grasp. As a kid, i was afraid of my dad because he was huge and superhuman strong (in a kids eye) and he would scold me when i did something wrong. But he also taught me many physical related things. My mom would alwaysbe kind and soothing, patching up my wounds from my escapades on the playground and be an emotional anker in times i felt down. But it needs both those parts, and that's why single parent kids get broken. If you just have a father, you will have problems emotionally, and just having a mother will do the same but in the other direction. It's similar to being the only child of the family. Those kids are also broken and usually bullied at school. Because normal family means man and wife + at least 2 children. That is normal. You can do whatever you feel like doing, but you don't get to get bonus points for beings lgbtq and adopting a child or more. It is still not normal and will not help anyone involved to evolve into a normal sane human being.

To the birth control thing, I have been menstruating since I was 14, (I’m now 22) as the years went on my cramps got progressively worse and worse. It got to the point where they were so bad that I would cry and yell. I was basically useless for the first day or 2 of my period every month because I could barely get out of bed. It finally came to a head last year when I was woken up very early in the morning with cramps so bad that I immediately started sobbing, my mom came to check on me and I made her lay down in the bed with me because they were so bad I didn’t want to be alone. We went to the gyno and she prescribed me birth control, no tests to see if it might be something else (I’ve suspected endometriosis but I tend to be a bit dramatic and think the worst). I took it for only 2 months and stopped because it was affecting my ADHD meds. This was 5 months ago and still my cramps have been no where near as bad as they were, I’m not complaining but it definitely did something I just don’t know what.

You are not alone in this. A lot of women experience the same thing and prescribed birth control. There are alternatives that will not have the side effects of birth control, which does a great deal of harm to your body as it keeps you from creating the proper amount of estrogen and progesterone for your body to grow the way it should. This could lead to infertility for the rest of your life, if not something worse.

Same thing happened with me. I was 11, vomiting and intense cramps first 24 hrs. Missed school and next day so weak I could barely walk. Mom took me to gyno, put on a couple antispasmodic pills with no relief. Birth control prescribed at 13 yrs old. It gave me so much relief. Lighter periods, no pain, etc. that was like 1978. I was so happy but end of every month I would get migraines. Then went on to have 2 complicated pregnancies with 2 breech kids, c-sections, told no more children, had tubal ligation. Late 20s started the autoimmune diseases. Hysterectomy at 32, left both ovaries because I was so young. Now at 56 suffering terribly, is it related I’ll never know for sure but it makes you think. There is genetics to both problems though. Had to stop being a nurse in 2015 😢

A high amount of estrogen can lead to endo and ovarian cancer/ tumors. Hormones affect how often and when you ovulate. Surviving financially has become more difficult much less supporting a family or traveling far distances to meet a potential candidate for marriage. The goal of dating requires meeting up eventually. This involves "real people". Expanding the search is practical. You don't walk into random buildings to find a job. You do research. Why wouldn't you focus your energy where you are going to have the highest percentage of success? Marriage is the most important decision you will ever make. Forcing that to happen within the confines of your social circle is impractical. Dating websites or applications only save you time and money when done honestly with the clear goal of marriage. There is no perfect solution, but when making a wise choice clearly defined goals and research only serve to benefit. The creation of strong families start with two people that love each other and share values. Creating a safe space where people with shared values can meet is only going to make that outcome more possible.
