I'm Thai. 1,000 USD is worth 3-4 months worth of full salary of most people here. It's annoys me to no ends whenever a foreigner from USA or developed European countries come here here and complains about how "bad and corrupted" their countries or governments are. While they can just work like 2 months in their country then fly here and live like a king for 10 months. You guys got an "Easy Mode" countries. Please don't take in for granted. It's those guys in Ukraine or Afghanistan that got a "Hard Mode".

In the US, there are places where a 1 bedroom apartment costs $3k. When foreigners come here, they work, get their paychecks, and then see they have nothing left at the end of the month.

Thank you for this!!! Unfortunately, not all of us were financially literate early. I was 35 when I finally educated myself and started taking steps. I went from $176,000 in debt with zero savings or retirement to now, 9 years later, fully debt-free and over $100,000 net worth. I know that doesn't SOUND like a lot, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Now I'm fast-tracking my wealth building (investing $40,000 annually) and don't owe a dime to anyone. It's a good feeling!

Thais do not eat pad Thai with chopsticks. They use a fork (in left hand, if you are a rightie) to shovel the food onto a spoon. Of course, the Thais are too polite to correct you. Chinese, Japanese, Korean visitors usually use chopsticks because that is what they use back home. Only foods Thai use chopsticks for are noodle dishes that come in bowls.

Hmmm Airfares to Phuket from the US are around $2K to $3K, usually closer to $3K if you fly direct. Lodging is typically $100 plus per night. There are places cheaper, but you get what you pay for. There are even places where it's $22K a night, no joke. Otherwise, stuff is cheap. In short, if you plan a trip to Phuket plan on $2K per person for flights (it's cheaper to go through Bangkok) and at least $150 a night for a junior suite. It does depend on when you go with summer prices significantly lower but then it's hot as all get out there.

Where would you recommend staying first time I don’t want to be too far from the action? Any good hotels

ok so i get the hotel was probably 1K but how much was the Elephant sanctuary? I'm going in May and I'm a person who doesn't care about a 1k hotel, but the elephant sanctuary looks like a place I would go. I have plans to see the cobra show too.

After you've paid for a 1 night qurantine, heath insurance, pcr test, an agent to get you through a mind boggling Thailand pass then your ticket, that's your 1000 dollars long gone before you even step on the plane!!!
