Thumb's up from Italy! I've got this box from uk and it rocks, nothing compared to any other products in its price range or even compared to more famous and expensive ones. Great piece of gear, really!

I have the excellent Carl Martin Rock Bug too, but the extra tone shaping this pedal can do is highly usable. I'm going to have to check one out.

Very cool demo. I have the Carl Martin cab sim already, but the added tone shaping features in the A/DA make it very tempting. I may need to grab one to check out now.

Great very to the point demo - well done. That really does sound good - I already have an old ADA Microcab which I really like - nice to see them back in the race. Now I'll have to think long and hard about whether I need one of these enough to shell out for it. Thanks.

Super cool and I just got mine both the cab simulator and app1. Cool stuff to do recording direct to the console PC. By the way still owned the ADA MP1 mod with three tube rectifier and the GCS2 compliment it well

Fantastic demos Brett! Thank you very much for the in depth settings!

Compared to plugging your distortion pedal directly into a DI or to a mixer, this would greatly improve the sound. But your sound would be entirely dependent on the quality of the distortion pedal. And when the effect was off, you might get a underwhelming clean tone as, technically, there's no preamp to color the signal.
@jnh7312 жыл бұрын
Good question! I would like to know, too. A/DA's product page is heavy on specs, and a bit light on setup suggestions or diagrams. The site DOES say "The GCS-2 is inserted between the output of your preamplifier (or effects pedal chain) and a mixing or recording console to replace the close proximity microphone that is typically used to mic a guitar speaker cabinet." So... you might need a speaker load that has a line out, and connect your amp to the speaker load.

As a GCS-3 owner I can assure everyone that this product is the real deal. The voicings are kinda limited in that you can't get a 4x12 or 8x10 kinda sound from it, but I've been recording a metal EP at home and I've been using an MXR Fullbore Metal directly into the GCS-3, and then I split the output using a stereo split cable so I can record in stereo. After layering two stereo tracks (100left/100center + 100right/100 center) on top of each other, I created a massively brutal wall of sound.

Curious to hear that...I just bought one and I love it with my amt preamps
@gordontubbs9 жыл бұрын
In that case, with your AMT pedals you should just use the cab sim out routed to 1 input of your audio interface and then GCS outpout into the 2nd input of your audio interface.

can you do a demo of this thing with a high gain metal type tone?I'm looking at using this as a cab simulator foran engl E530 preamp

Hey Burgs, waited to see a product like this for sooo long... thanks for demoing good as always.. :-( no luck to buy it in europe for now anyway.. By the way, did you had the change to test the new AMT LEGENDS version 2 pedals (M2, R2, etc)? they're out now and can't wait to see them compared to the original ones.. regards!!!

Burgs, awesome videos! Just picked one of these up. Running it with a PRS P22, looking to use the GCS-2 direct with the piezo and use a JHS Sweet Tea for my drive. Wonder what your thoughts are on a compressor in the loop? Looking to get a little more clarity on the piezo side. This thing rocks with my Sweet Tea.

But I think you can plug a power amp into the A/DA GCS-3, which has a -30dB switch for when you do so.

Awesome video Burg! Did you record directly into your audio interface? If you did, how does this APP-1 and GCS-2 combination compare to the Tech 21 Character Series in terms of sound quality? Thanks!
@EffectivePhysioKingaroy12 жыл бұрын
No. In my amp, for example, I have 2 power amp outputs: 1 for the speaker (load), and another 1 as a "slave ouput", in which only the pre and power amp signals passes to more amplification (example: active PA). In this configuration, you can use it like you said, since the speakers continue to receive the load. But brings you a problem: you can't record, at home, without sound. But, you can simple solve this makin a simple speaker load: soundonsound . com/sos/1994_articles/apr94/dummyload.html

Hello Brett! Can I use the GCS without a preamp? My 320design Brown Feather distortion and my other pedals drives, delays etc straight to the GCS and last to the mixer? Thank you!

Hi Brett, I have a H&K Red Box (speaker sim) but it has low output volume because its output signal is damped 24dB, to use it in normal Mic inputs. This doesnt work for because I run my preamp pedals directly into PA or active speaker. Will ADA GCS 2 work for me? Does it have loud volume enought for live aplications?

maybe someone can help, i want to connect my head to my interface and then pc, but if i connect directly to the interface and use a cab sim plugin im scared somethings going to give as the amp is putting out alot of power and theres not actually a speaker load, so if i put this box between my amp and interface will it act as a speaker load and take away any danger involved in plugging straight into my interface?

Hi Brett! This pedal simulates a "cabinet" only, not a "head" right? But if i plug my pedals (vox, wampler, morley, etc) without a preamp like the APP-1 it will sound great too or a preamp is needed to "match" the things and make a cool sound? Thanks!

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge in the question I'm about to ask, but.... Can I use this box between my tube amp head and speaker cabinet (like a Palmer PDI-09 or Radial JDX)? Or is this box not meant to be used with a tube amp between the head and cab?

yuen yuen when you connect the power amp to the "THRU" setting, are you still able to hear the volume come through the amplifier while recording? I would prefer to have it be completely silent... is it just using the cabinet as an impedance signal that matches?

I use some sansamp products (GT2 and PSA1) and here is my doubt. Have you ever had the experience of connecting your psa-1 online? Although he has the same GT2 simulation proposal and even more tuning parameters, he does not have the microphone simulation. I was using his xlr output to connect online and I did not like the result. Can this cab simulator be any benefit to this situation? Thank you!
