“Senseless” “Helen Keller” That is comedy genius. The fact that Carol doesn’t get it should be a crime. 😂 Not surprisingly, this is the same issue I run into with Apples to Apples. People don’t know the card, so, they don’t pick it. Really comes down to knowing who the judge is for the round, as opposed to, following the prompt properly.

Anytime you play that or any other variation of it your only strategy to be to know who you have picking the cards. This one person I know will always pick anything to do with bacon or sex so if you have those cards and they are picking, play either one. The cards never make sense, just know whose picking and you win everytime 😂

Exactly, I used to play all the time with some friends, and we all have the exact same sense of humor in the game. One of my friends had his girlfriend join our game once and eventually, she was the judge. I think the prompt was "White people like..." so I played Nazis, naturally. This fucker, read all the cards and picked the most boring answer out of all. We all stared at her, eyes wide, mouths agape. In the basic box, as you probably know, this is one of those fail-safe cards that is practically guaranteed to win if played.

Board games: $5 at a garage sale for a pile of used ones, battered and missing pieces. A great way for my parents to avoid getting me the NES I wanted. According to them, "these are just as good as that arcade-game-thing, and better for your imagination, too". Anyone who's seen early Nintendo game graphics knows your imagination got such a workout it could have gone solo against Schwarzenegger and Van Damme at the same time and whupped them both. But I guess it was healthier for me in one respect: I was outside exercising a lot doing yard work to get the money for an NES myself. I sometimes wonder if that was the actual plan all along. Of course, if it was, that plan fell apart the day I actually *got* the NES; I think I forgot what the Sun looked like for a while lol

I liked “Jumanji”. Is it particularly true to the perilous scenarios of the film? No, but I don’t know how else they were supposed to recreate them in a way that was simple enough for all ages to play. You’d really have to get into some D&D stuff to make them more like the movie, and what six-year-old is gonna have a grasp on that? As a little kid, trying to get the right dice roll to kill the creeping vine within the time limit was exciting enough.

@Egg Keg Films Yes, and my family played it quite a bit. We still have our original copy. The hourglass broke at one point, so we replaced it with one we found at the grocery store. If not for the blue sand, it would look like it was meant for the game. It has a rustic, carved wood frame with a dark stain, pretty similar to the board from the movie.

My brother and I used to do D&D stuff with that game all the time as kids. We also did it with Zathura, the board game based on the spiritual sequel to the Jumanji movie and actual sequel to the Jumanji book. It was really the only form of entertainment we had.
