Thanks, helped me decide. A 220 sounds good but if I bought a second system then having 2 110 makes more sense as I have a 110 easily available vs having 2 220v plugs

Thanks for doing this, was really curious on the timing difference as I'm in between units, I think the 110V is the one for me as the extra timing isn't too severe and nice to be able to change location where I brew

The fun part of making videos like these is that I'm curious on the outcome as well. Going to shoot a side by side of the Brewzilla 3.1.1 and Gen 4 both 110v next just to see if there are any differences. Cheers!

This was awesome. Thanks for making this. You should do a quick follow-up on how they turned out as well. In my opinion, the 110 is the way to go, considering the minor difference in time. It's not just the cost of putting in the 220 outlet but also it limits you to where you can brew. Or, if you ever move, etc. That being said, I'm eyeing up the larger units that can brew 40L of finished Wort and, just multiplying by 2, the difference between the 110 and 220 would be significant (1 hour+) between the two at that scale. Thanks again.

I was planning on doing a blind side by side tasting once they are done fermenting and kegged. Would you be interested in seeing a side by between something like the fairly cheap 220v Grainfather S40 that can do 40 liter batches brewed side by side a 35L Brewzilla just to see how much time each one takes?

Great video, This was exactly what I was looking for. I couldn’t decide between the 2 but a half hour of savings isn’t really worth the expense of running 220. My only other concern is how vigorous is the boil. Did you notice a big difference between them when boiling?
@graintoglass
@graintoglass Жыл бұрын
Didn't notice a difference during the boil and the boil off rate seemed about the same. Cheers

I would suggest that the brewzilla profile on brewfather is for a 240v(220v) volt system

Nice side by side comparison! Did you notice if the proteins were retained by the false bottom with the hops?
@graintoglass
@graintoglass Жыл бұрын
I honestly can't remember but the false bottom does block a lot of stuff from getting into your fermenter.

I'm still brewing in my cooler mash tun. I'm Canadian too and brew in my unheated garage. I know a half hour (at room temperature) doesn't seem like much but, how much difference do you think the 220v system would make brewing in the winter months?
@graintoglass
@graintoglass 2 жыл бұрын
I think that if you would also use the Robobrew insulated jacket the 220v system would make a pretty big difference in the colder months. Cheers

How much time do you think you could shave off with a counterflow chiller? Trying to decide between the grainfather g30 v3 and brewzilla gen 4. Bit of a price difference but grainfather comes with a counterflow. 220v plus quicker chill, Thoughts?
@graintoglass
@graintoglass Жыл бұрын
Hi, the counterflow chiller is much faster. Should easily cut your chill time in half. If it helps in your decision you can get the Kegland counterflow chiller that works with the Brewzilla for $99. We made a quick video about it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIa3aI2glJt1g68

So its a 220 30a circut right? I was just thinking of setting up my brew station by the dryer and use my existing 30a.
@graintoglass

Yup that should do it. You'll need a power adapter if you want to plug it into your dryer receptacle.

So it's about 25 minutes longer for the 110v, what was the total time and how does it compare to a burner? Trying to convince the wife it will be quicker if I get one of these...
@graintoglass
@graintoglass 2 жыл бұрын
I haven't used a burner in a long time so I'm not to sure. On the 220v if you put in your strike water the day before you want to brew and set a delayed timer so that you would be at strike temp as soon as you wanted to start you could do a 5-6 gallon all grain batch in 3-4 hours including cleanup.

Aside from the marginal time difference, was there any difference in the end product?
@graintoglass
@graintoglass Жыл бұрын
I could not find any differences in the finished beer. 240v is nice since it's quicker but on the flipside the 120v system can be plugged in pretty much anywhere. I've used mine in my kitchen, basement, back deck, garage, friends house etc Cheers

would the 120v version work well with the 12L kettle extension. Does the 120v produce enough heat to keep a rolling boil ?
@graintoglass
@graintoglass Жыл бұрын
I haven't tried but I don't think it would be able to bring an extra 12 liters to a nice rolling boil. I'll try to get my hands on one and give it a go at some point.

I use the extension on a 120v 3.1 but I added a 120v hot rod heat stick. I use the heat stick and the 500w heater when boiling, about 2000w ish. It's a ok boil. It gets me 2 kegs on one brew day so Im happy.
