This scoring system strikes again. Between that and the blinds, I am LOVING this new format. This is exactly how I’ve felt about jack without being able to articulate it

JD no.7 was always the best friend of every rock star in the '70s. They always had the famous bottle in their hand, keeping the bad boy myth alive. Stones, Zeppelin, Van Halen, Southern rockers, you name it. It's not the greatest whisky I have tasted, but sure is the one with the most Oomph ✌️🙂 Cool vid amigo!

Jack Daniels, the perfectly average whiskey that is good enough to drink on its own, yet cheap and available enough to use for any mixing. Always have a bottle on hand because it is so versatile.

Right. I’ve had worse whiskey that was 3x the price of jack. Not to mention how amazing the triple mash and others is with damn near the same price tag.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. I have never tried any other bourbon/whiskey that I actually enjoyed as much as I enjoy JD old no.7. I drink it neat. Don't care to mix it with anything. I do enjoy it with a good cigar like a gran habano corojo no.5. Subbed and thank you for the review.

I’ve been eagerly waiting for this one! JD7 is my go to whiskey that is perfect for mixing with coke or occasionally sipping straight. Agree that it’s probably the quintessential “average” whiskey 🥃 but the price point is good and I don’t feel awkward in the store when looking for what to buy that I know I’ll like and not be afraid of wasting money on.

For a only a small step up in price the Jack bonded is a great premium option for general mixing and sipping

Could you share your age? I fell for the JD when i was in my early 20s. Have you tried any of the cheaper whiskeys as mixers? In my opinion, there are many man whiskeys for half the price that taste better.
@GothGuy885 Жыл бұрын
Ya ,definitely Not Rot gut at any level. it is my go to also. I have had really low quality whisky, like ten-High and it gets you there, but defiantly not as enjoyable as JD. like the man said Jack Daniels is the drink of rock stars and outlaws 😀👍

I had Jack Daniels years ago and hated it. But I wasn’t a regular consumer of whiskey at the time. This video convinced me to go get a bottle on my next run to the liquor store. I really like Maker’s Mark 46, but I also want a hood cheap mixer or something to knock back a couple of shots on some random Tuesday afternoon.

What made me a Jack Daniels fan was when I paired it with charcoal grilled burgers. The charcoal filtering really came our with those burgers. From that point on, every time I drink JD I get charcoal, which I love.

Charcoal filtering doesn't "add" flavor per se, it removes some of the chemicals found in young, whiskey. So technically, they are adding flavor by removing chemicals and that technically makes it a bourbon.

Great video! I like the scoring system with most of the weight being on aroma and flavor and taking other factors like price and availability into account. And this system puts Jack Daniel's right where it should be, like you said it is a very widely available, quality whiskey, at a fair price. It's not going to knock your socks off, but it's definitely good just on its own.

I usually go for the Scottish whisky which i love, but sometimes i go and buy this one nowadays. It´s something else from what i usually enjoy on a dark cold night. I really disliked it in the beginning. But then one evening after been being gifted two bottles, i really sat down and really tasted it. Not both bottles in one go i should say 😁 But my thought was "If it is popular, there has to be something to it" kind of way. It´s not a favorite, but there is something to it that really draws you back. As is mentioned in video, it is in the middle somewhere. And sometimes it is good enough to enjoy a good ol´whiskey.

I recommend doing value prior to availability. Only be shown the price at that point. That way the name can’t influence value. Then do availability last, which is when you really need to know what it is.

Tennessee whiskey usually has a very high corn mash bill. This links it more with the corn whiskies of the deep south more than with Kentucky Bourbon, which usually uses more rye, and has a stronger link with the Pennsylvania and Maryland rye whiskies. That's probably nonsense but it sounds good doesn't it haha

Jack Daniels was the 5th, 6th, and 7th whiskey I've tried. The first one I tried was Gentleman Jack which was very underwhelming. The 2nd was the Single Barrel Select which absolutely blasted me with a char flavor that was too distracting for me to enjoy it, even when I mixed it with coke. The 3rd was No7 which was definitely more tame than the SBS (and was delicious with coke, go figure), but the char flavor/smell was still too distracting to enjoy it neat or over ice. In case anyone is curious, my experience with whiskey up to this point has been J. Reiger Kansas City Whiskey (Kansas Native, had to be my first. I'm not including the awful sip of Orange Jameson I had), Willett Pot Still Reserve bourbon, Wild Turkey 101 bourbon, and Old Forester Statesman bourbon (Went to the store looking for Old Forester 86, but Statesman had a cooler label).

I love how jack flavor is the easiest flavor in the world to pick out and still you were so shocked lol. Its cheap , you can get a nice mouth feel and it doesnt light your mouth on fire so you can taste the flavors better. There is a reason it sells so well. On top of it has a very wet thirst quenching finish in a weird way, like how most whiskies dry your mouth out.

Added note: Jack Daniels actually made their bottle that shape to make it harder for others to sell their product by slapping another name on it. Also people would add the Jack name to a random bottle and it be total hog wash, so that protects their name as well.

Jack Daniel's clearly stats on the bottle that it's whiskey not bourbon! So bourbon is a type of whiskey that’s made from at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak barrels, while whiskey can be made from any grain and aged in any type of wood barrel.
