i feel like vaush is probably afraid to do research before a debate, because he might stumble upon evidence that contradicts what he has said with extreme conviction. Its kinda like lav, except he is afraid of walking it back, so he is afraid to confront the possibility he might be wrong. A standard thing he does might be: -make a claim -react to someone disagreeing with that point (might not be directly to vaush himself) -insults the person very hard and make a show for the viewers on how he/she might be stupid -when it comes time to debate and put metal-to-metal, he refrains from doing research in fear that he might be forced to walk back his extreme statements, lest he be seen as a bad faith propagandist. So he resorts to vague assertions and rhetoric instead of useful facts/statements on standby. Im not saying this is definitely true, but it might be an explanation on why he never prepares for any debate, despite feeling like he has all the facts on his side. I feel like if i knew i was right 100%, i would be foaming at the mouth to confront my debate opponent with those facts ready. Either this, or he is so ungodly lazy that he would rather risk getting embarrassed in a debate than prepare.

Same thing with force the vote, when BJG kept hilariously arguing that progressives could have leveraged their power (6 members at the time out of 435 lmao) to put Medicare for All to a floor vote which would lose, as well as decrease public support for said bill dramatically. But sure, talk about debate prep instead of the actual arguments at hand here between the 2

This was hard to listen to lol. I was grasping desperately at anything relevant that Destiny had to say, yet the majority of the time he'd either completely be distracted with his game, or only make flippantly dismissive remarks. The times he did chip in were a sight to behold though, literally jumped for joy when he actually decides to say something for once. I gotta say though, Destiny seems weirdly extreme in his vitriolic rhetoric toward BJG. It was literally a point brought up in the convo, where she says to Vaush that they my disagree on the method for instance, but that doesn't need to be inlayed with animosity as well, or where she says she's open to being wrong on a topic and changing her opinion to something else if a reasonable argument is made. It really just feels like priming the audience when he attacks someone with such intensity before they've even opened their mouth. It's also a bit annoying when he comes in with a narrative about someone, and over the course of the conversation, is shown that maybe bits and pieces of his caricature aren't exactly accurate, yet still remains so stubbornly opposed such as having to caveat his concessions with, "well, BJG is technically right here I guess... but" and then allude to a stance, spend a few seconds looking for clips to reinforce himself, fail to find one, accidently find one that showed the complete opposite, drop that clip to continue looking for one that supported his perception, before eventually giving up and resuming the video. I wonder how many times he would have to be shown that he isn't right on his perception, before he would eventually change his mind (or at least switch to indifference), or whether he would stick to his guns and not budge an inch. I would honestly love to see a conversation between the two of them because I feel like they could have a productive one.

It's sad but Destiny operates from the premise that democrats are always good and can't ever lie or be wrong. Destiny basically painted himself into a corner and has decided to defend the establishment at all costs. That's why he despises anti establishment progressives. He calls them extreme but they're not even that radical, they're just against the DNC who are only interested in maintaining the corporatist status quo. Vaush and Hasan are more extreme than BJG.

Saying she is “horrible” without giving her a fair shake is lazy since it is probably just copying what some generic corporate democrat tweeted to make her seem like some unthinking “radical”… it is similar to calling Bernie Sanders a “horrible nutcase”, which is actually what many said about Bernie Sanders before he became well known… he was called sexist, racist, and other horrible things to diminish his pro-working class message (Medicare-for-All, etc…)

Saying that Vaush speaks well but has no facts to back it up is the best summary of him I've seen. I found his rhetoric very persuasive until I saw some videos where he touched on topics I have expertise and formal education in, which he completely mangled and misunderstood. In so many ways I can't think of a worst representative of the online left than Vaush. When debating centrists, or center lefties, he frames them as ultra right fascists because they won't bend to his weird purity tests of what the left should be, so he ends up alienating a lot of people who were on the fence. And when he debates far left people he does such an awful job that he ends up strengthening their radicalism and their audience's warped views. He can be pointed by people on the far right and the far left as to why their ideologies are correct. He's just... so bad.

He’s infinitely more transparent, honest, principled, and logical than an overwhelming majority of people I’ve ever seen who plant themselves so hard in the political spectrum. He just happens to debate all those other people who don’t hold those same qualities, and because they have no humility to admit when they’re wrong, they just double down and hate on him out of personal insecurity. That’s been a pretty consistent pattern. And truthfully, debates are ultimately pointless.
