@heatedfrost Ever heard of the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2008 to 2012? No playoffs for 4 years? He never won a cup in Vancouver. In Anaheim that was his second year when they won the cup. The GM Anaheim got rid of was the real winner. What has he done in Toronto? Sweet fuck all.

as a canucks fan.. i am thankful for what this guy did for our club.. what he did with the chilliwack bruins made me lose respect for him completly.. im living in toronto now and watching this and seein him choke up like that over his son its hard to put the word "hate" when talking about him with ppl i meet out here.. i definatly wont say i hate brian burke again. keep doin your thing burke and for leafs fans. enjoy this guy while hes here hes gonna make your team a winner very soon. be patient

Why do you assume it's only Leaf fans saying he's a terrible GM. He gets 'ripped on' from other fanbases as well. some canuck fans do not give him any credit for their teams success. Many leaf fans see that the team is at least in better shape than it was,although much slower than we would have liked for sure.

Here's my issue with Burke: The whole "If you can play, you can play" is a bunch is crap when it is coming from Burke. He has only spoken up because it affects HIM! While I am sympathetic to him losing a son, I would love to see Burke stand up for a cause that isn't directly related to him. It would mean so much more to others and it would look better on him if he stood up for a cause that he didn't feel "obliged" to do so. Just saying...

The people who come on here and say "Brian Burke is a terrible GM" don't realize that it is them who are making Toronto's struggles worse. People forget how hard it is to be a hockey player in a Canadian market, let alone a GM. Burke has won a cup, a pedigree that very few other GM's have, and you still complain about that? Only in Toronto. He also brought the Sedins to Vancouver, yet his player management is ripped on. Maybe you should all get behind your team like real fans.

discodarth Great at trades.. Kessel deal aside. Horrible drafter. Too much emphasis on toughness and character when drafting. Skill should be number one attribute when drafting a player.
