We got a gift of a small SOLO from a family member. Although we do not have this brand we enjoy the fact that you can have a camp fire and it dies down quickly when you stop feeding it fuel,

Yes - that is one of our favorite features with this style. Thanks for the watch!

Very interesting! Did not seem interesting at first, I was immediately thinking about whether it could roast a hot dog. But, of course, s'mores are bigger concern. I LOVE the short cut you use with the cookie, but my marshmallow has to be a perfect golden brown. Troy has failed a roasting a marshmallow for my s'more! I was honestly more interested in those chairs you had. Feel free to send me a link! They look spendy, but perhaps worth it? Finally, I had tears rolling down my face from laughter with Desi and the wood pile! Made my day, Thanks Desi.

I think we could probably get a hot dog roasted on this! Might have to try lol. And well I have to confess. Troy doesn't typically like his marshmallows that way - thats me lol - he more follows your rule! Desi will do anything for a treat lol. And yes - will email you the info on the chairs. Thanks for all the support as always!!!

We used to have one like your old reliable. We needed a smaller one too, and that's why we changed. The size on that one is better than the original solo stove for our needs as well. You guys looked way to comfortable sitting by it and the lake. Really like that wood crib. Thinking that you'll end up having the black one before long. The blue is turning dark for sure. You definitely like you marshmallows burnt. I like the idea of using the cookies. Love smores. Desi! You messed up dad's nice pile. 😂😂. Be safe guy, Bill and DeAnna

Hi guys! Thanks for the watch! We really like but will keep the propane for out west. And we love making s’mores with the cookies - so easy and no mess lol. And yes - Desizilla lets nothing stop him from rooting out his treats lol. You guys headed north soon?

Good review, guys! We have a tiny one we used in the living room for ambiance. Wouldn’t use it to make s’mores though! 😁 Never thought of using fudge stripe cookies for s’mores! 😋
@WinesPinesandCanines5 ай бұрын
Hi Lee! Not sure where we saw the fudge stripe cookie idea but soooo much easier. We always found the chocolate would never melt with graham crackers - this one works perfect lol. Hope you guys are doing well!

Interesting gadget. Unfortunately, a lot of places out west don't allow wood fires of any sort. I'll probably have to stick with my propane firepit. Cody and I are coming to you from Loreto, BCS tonight. We've been making our way down the coast on the east side. Tomorrow, we're headed to La Paz. There's a dog park there that Cody's looking forward to.

Excellent point! Another reason we will like the propane. Sounds like you are having a great time as is Cody! How much longer are you on the road?

@@WinesPinesandCanines We're going to spend another week or so going south to Los Cabos and then up to Todos Santos on the Pacific side. Then 5 or 6 days going back north. After that, it's a 2 day drive home from California. No real set itinerary. So far, it's been a great trip. Nothing important has broken. Google Maps hasn't managed to kill me (yet--although it's tried). Gas is expensive and can be hard to find (particularly if you're paying with a card). A few truly horrible sections of road, as bad as any I've seen anywhere in the world. All things considered, it's been good so far.

Thats really cute. Very useful. I've wanted a smokeless firepit. The huge ones are so heavy. Lynn and Danny

Thanks! Yes - we really wanted something lighter that we could easily carry and would still give us a quick campfire on cool nights. We are very happy with it! Thanks for the watch! Hope you guys are doing well!

Are you two going to do a review of Elm Hill RV Resort at all. Very anxious to hear about it.

We are! Working on that one right now and should have up this weekend. Thanks for the watch!

We use the Leibenz cookies. The chocolate is only on one side so won’t get your fingers dirty from the stripes. We’ve also tried Tate’s Chochip cookies. Those worked well too and gave a little extra crunch.

Oohhh - good to know! Never mind trying a new cookie haha! Thanks for the tip.

I've considered the little smokeless burners, but the trouble of using little sticks was unappealing. I also don't know why you'd want a smokeless firepit when you incinerate your marshmallows! 😆
@WinesPinesandCanines5 ай бұрын
Hi Leon! Yes - definitely have to use smaller pieces - this one will take pellets also although we havent tried those yet. And lol - yes I (Linda) do like to have those very well done! (You should see a hotdog!)

For me, willbstuck w pripane pit. No clean up like w wood and some places can ban wood fires but allow propane. Also, propane is 💯 smokeless. Great review though.
@WinesPinesandCanines5 ай бұрын
Thank you! And agree - we aren’t getting rid of our propane one either. But will be nice for those short trips in cool weather we think :). Thanks for the watch!

That's the LARGE size? Can't image what the small size looks like. 😁
@WinesPinesandCanines5 ай бұрын
Ha! Yes - they are definitely on the smaller size than a traditional firepit. Have seen some even smaller but this works pretty well for those cool nights when you just want a little! Thanks for the watch.

Reading the reviews, it seems like the rivets are a weakpoint. I saw that yours broke there, too. Do you think drilling the old rivets out and reattaching with stainless steel rivets instead of what looked like aluminum would work to fix this? I'm ordering regardless, just thought I would ask.
@WinesPinesandCanines5 ай бұрын
Hi - thanks for the watch. So had to go back and take a look at how it came originally lol. The inside parts being separate must have happened with the first time I used and it hasn’t affected its operation. Believe you could use a stronger rivet to see if they hold up but not sure there is a benefit overall. Curious if you do add the rivets - can you circle back and let me know how it works?
@chado_outdoors5 ай бұрын
@@WinesPinesandCanines absolutely will! I think as soon as it arrives, I'll replace the rivets before even a first burn and then will let you know if it helped!

If you had to rate this firepit would it be more for Heat or more for just camping and want a small fire?
@WinesPinesandCanines5 ай бұрын
Gi! I would say for when we want a “campfire” feel and some light warmth. We used it in temps in the 40’s and it worked well and it does put off some heat but the 30’s might be a struggle to stay warm!
@sssophiesmom5 ай бұрын
What do you do to light the fire
@WinesPinesandCanines5 ай бұрын
Troy uses a grill starter lighters to light some small kindling or a paper towel to get the fire started. Similar to a standard campfire - just smaller lol! Thanks for the watch!

So much for it being blue.shoud get black or stainless.
@WinesPinesandCanines5 ай бұрын
We had seen stainless ones take on a patina so thought we would try a color but alas. We might try spraying it with a high heat paint you see if that works. Thanks for the watch!
