Hi!. I was recently looking at your works and videos, reading your website and decided to start building watches like yours. This explanation of how to build it and see the process until it is done is very interesting to me. thanks for showing your work. Greetings from Buenos Aires

Thank you Brian, that was very helpful to me as I’m in the process of doing Mr Boyer’s Deco clock. Thank you for the great videos supporting his designs and showing use your skill and patience. Stay safe during this virus mate and take special care

I just discovered these videos on making a wooden clock! It's cool... Really thinking about trying one. Turning things over in my head, what wood to use for durability. What finish to put on it to even help in that regard. And I watch a video that says do NOT apply finish to the teeth? Why not? I would think it would add life.

Brian, Very nice indeed. Good video and at the end I now know how you do your drawings as I can see you are a fan of SolidWorks.

This is a great video and does explain things well. Can this clock be built without the aid of a CNC machine? I only have scroll saws and basic woodworking tools/equipment. If not, what clock would you suggest as a first project?

What does increasing the weight of the bob do to the clock? Will the winding time decrease?
@woodenclocks7 жыл бұрын
Increasing the weight of the Pendulum Bob lowers the centre of mass and so increases the time it takes for the pendulum to swing, and so slows the clock down.

That is why there is only a few people in this world that can cut proper gear ratio mech's by hand.....I guarantee this guy had his gears cut either by CNC or other machines. SO, don't be discouraged.

Onde comprar esse relógio
@eduardojose63477 жыл бұрын
Você poderia me ajudar?
@woodenclocks7 жыл бұрын
The Pendulum and the Escapement both hang from the same pivot. The Escapement and the Pendulum can be a tight fit on the pivot pin, but the Pivot pin must be free to move in the two Hanger parts that support it, this fit should not be too loose so a Ø2.3 hole should be used as a maximum. If you can see movement of the pivot pin when the Pallets engage the Escape wheel then the holes hangers are too big. Where the Pivot passes through the Back frame a Ø3 should be used.

Is it safe to assume that this clock is a simplified version of Clock 1, and that Clock 1 can be assemblied just like this one? Since there are no videos of clocks 1 to 11 on your channel, this would be a huge help.
@woodenclocks8 жыл бұрын
Clock 25 is not a simplified version of Clock 1, it has a different construction, that is a lot simpler to put together. If you look at the images of the two clocks on their web pages you can see that although they share a similar frontal view the actual construction is different.

Are you running continuously? How often does it stop? 1 day running the wrong minute?
@woodenclocks7 жыл бұрын
The clock will run for about 8 hours before it will need rewinding, then you pull down on the counter weight and lift the main weight to reset.

Can this clock still be on a scroll saw?
@woodenclocks8 жыл бұрын
You can cut the gears with a scroll saw, PDF file scaled at 1:1is included with the download files

Hi, I'm a biomedical engineer student and I was planning on making this for a final project. I was checking the clock drawing's PDF and noticed the escape wheel didn't have dimensions for the gears. Are they not important or can i only get them by purchasing it?
@woodenclocks8 жыл бұрын
These designs are intended to be built using the DXF files to generate gcode for CNC cutting. They can also be used by printing out the parts to scale and sticking them to the wood surface and then cutting around the lines with a scroll saw. Neither methods require fully defined detail drawing to accomplish this, so I only include basic dimensions for the parts.

Thank you! Real nice job by the way

my language is Portuguese, I do not know how to speak English, I'm turning to an online translator, so I apologize for something misspelled. I built the watch 25 with the help of a laser cnc, I'm having difficulty adjusting the time, the clock is advancing 24 minutes every 8 hours. Could you tell me what the value of the pendulum bob weight and the main weight on the coke bottle is? Nice work, thank you for showing us your art!
@woodenclocks7 жыл бұрын
If you have made the Pendulum rod from Carbon Fibre tube or wooden dowel and the Pendulum Bob from wood then the Pendulum Bob will be the correct weight., You now need to move the Pendulum Bob down to slow down the swing of the pendulum until it gives you the right time.
@Pauleiras7 жыл бұрын
I made the 1 meter rod of the Pendulum with aluminum hollow tube (mass = 110g) and the Pendulum Bob made in layers of mdf 3mm (masa74g). Is the pendulum rod too heavy? The weight that rotates the gears has mass of 1 kg. Thank you so much for answering me!

How many teeth are there in other gear??
@garyshirinian4 жыл бұрын
Just about 10 min ago I raised a question and I see you have used carbon fiber rod for the pendulum. My question was about keeping time ? Because wood with humanity I'm sure it will effect the time . I want to buid one some day . So please help me if I'm thinking rational about this. Thx . Maybe I might buy one of you clocks I not sure . Thx

And by the way, nobody has the horology machine's used to do this work. You always see these videos, leading people to believe all these gears and such are made by hand. They have very specialized machines to do the work. So, don't be detoured
