As brilliant as each member of Queen was (is), there was something beyond human that happened when they worked together. Freddie once said, while making his solo project, that even though he had access to a whole orchestra at his fingers, he missed having Brian who could make the same sounds on his guitar. There was a special uniqueness of those 4 together. But Brian sure could shred when he wanted to!

I’m a Brian May fanatic so I have seen this. This was the period after Freddie died and he had his own band. The drummer was named Cozy Powell and was a great friend of Brian’s who was killed in a car crash. Very tragic. Lots of great music from that era - Driven by you, Back to the Light just to mention a few. He has talked about how depressed he was during this time. Great video and great reaction. You’re right “not just a song”.

Think everyone has said what was going on at the time for Brian . He lost his dad and Freddie in 1991 .... suffering from depression ... cozy was a friend of Brian’s and they were also due to tour together in 1998, unfortunately Cozy died in a car crash (DUI, doing over 100 mph on motorway trying to get to his girlfriends .. they said he was actually on the phone when the impact happened!) cozy was an amazing drummer.. saw him with Rainbow and Whitesnake ... May have seen him with Sabbath but being absolutely honest ... I am not sure and will have to look that up! Back to Brian... this track is no surprise .. yep I am a queen fan that hadn’t heard it ... heavy, fast and intense .. trying to expel his demons

Another great Brian May solo song is Driven By You, released around 1991. It was originally made by Brian at the request of the Ford motor company for their new ad campaign. However, after this he released it and changed I into a single, where it managed to come close to topping the charts within the UK. It is a real gem and Brians most successful solo song and only the true Queen fans know of its existence. Hope you react to it soon!

I saw Brian, during this tour, at the Cleveland Agora. (I think the capacity was less than 1000 people). At the time, he was the opening act for Guns & Roses and would play club shows on off nights. He was consistently being booed by the GnR crowd. Slash (who was a friend) finally started coming out to introduce him just so the A-hole GnR fans would show him the respect he deserved! I was able to meet Brian backstage. Very kind and humble person. You should listen to some of Rogers' early solo stuff. Lets get Crazy, Airheads, etc. Shows off his gritty voice. Roger also played all of the instruments on his early solo recordings.

Spectacular! Solo Brian was a complete animal, especially onstage in the 90's. He has a criminally underrated singing voice and has just as much power over a crowd as well. Going solo was how he processed his grief for Freddie and his father's deaths among other things going on and his depression. With this song, I feel he's more determined than angry and is trying to rise up out of his dark place and "resurrect" the old Brian. Alongside Queen, Brian's solo stuff is outstanding. "Back to the light", "since you've been gone", "driven by you" and his rendition of "too much love will kill you", to name a few are so raw and he just bares his soul. I totally love him! He is definitely not to be trifled with! I love Brian's speaking voice as well as his singing voice! Its so silk/velvety soft, gentle, calm and warm yet at the same time it has a special power and grabs your attention and respect. He's every inch a gentleman! This and "sleeping on the sidewalk" weren't the only times he sang with an American accent. He participated in an MTV unplugged show in the 90's and Tie your mother down was one of the songs he played and sang with an American accent which included a prologue of sorts. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZXYp2ykfd6Iq7s A few weeks after Brian announced his heart attack, several of his (current and former) bandmates, friends, and colleagues from over the years "got together" and did a recorded an at home tribute rendition of one of his hit solo works-"Driven by you" spearheaded by Danny Gomez and famous comedian and author/playwright Ben Elton to show just how deeply Brian is loved and how much he means to everyone. Brian was totally floored by it. You don't necessarily have to react to it, but here it is just to check out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXu9eHZ_qdyjjbM Here is also the link to Brian's profound thanks post on instagram. instagram.com/p/CBJwa5GFeNH/ (Also the link is just to have in case you don't already follow him on instagram in general).

15:12 Yes right? it's really underrated for what it is. Just as I told you. You got the same hype that I had and I STILL have it, it's such an amazing song and I already said before, it is so Great that I don't know how to really say how great it is. Cool music Video and everything. Brian really put his Power in there. So there were 3 Guitar Solo's. A short one at the beginning at 2:59 then a normal Guitar solo at 6:25 , AND THEN There is that Amazing EPIC Killer Tap Guitar Solo at 10:56. Brian May was actually One of the first ones to EVER use the Tap Technique and here you can see his Skills. Let's just say Brian May is a part of the people who invented the Tap technique. THAT Guitar Solo right there is probably one of his BEST Guitar Solo's ever but this song is so Underrated that people won't count it in their ''Top 10 List'' if you know what i'm saying. But It's so cool how he plays a HUGE role in Music History. 6:31 Look at those amazing Adidas shoes, I think at the time of recording that Music Video they weren't even produced and sold anymore, but what I want to say is that I think Brian wore them there for remembering Freddie because of how Freddie loved those shoes and would always wear them at Live Shows. The Start of recording for the Album was in 1988 and it was going till 1992, this was definitely a song after Freddie's death where Brian could let his anger out and stuff. The Lyrics of this song Are REALLY Deep and in many ways relatable. This song is on the same album as Too Much Love Will Kill You and I think that's why it is over looked. In my opinion too much love will kill you isn't even a better song than this. Also I wanted to mention this Fantastic Drum solo by Cozy Powell at 6:40 Cozy Powell died in 1998 in a Car Crash, really overwhelming story what happened there :( all I can say is he was a Great Guy and a Fantastic Drummer. Since I have E Drums I can easily make my Hi-hat pedal into another bass drum which is how I can play with 2 Bass Drums just as Cozy Powell. It's really cool to see how different he Plays to Roger. Like Roger is the only Drummer I ever ''Studied'' and when I saw Cozy it's such a huge difference. And from what I have seen Cozy learned Drums so different that he Can't play Like Roger. Cozy was in the Band from Brian May (The Brian May Band) as I said once, Roger had his own band called the Cross PLUS many solo projects, and the exact same with Brian with HIS Band and also many solo projects. So Cozy was the Drummer in Brian May's band and when they Performed Now I'm here Cozy's Drumming isn't as Powerful as Roger's. In the beginning of the song Cozy just normally goes down the Toms but Roger is GOING HAM on the drums every time they play now I'm here. But Cozy's Drumming here at Resurrection is definitely Very much Power. Anyways I'm not claiming Cozy is a bad drummer and Roger is better, what I'm saying is it's cool to see how different people play an instrument and how everyone has their style and makes something cool out of it. I Love them both. If you are interested you can check out Brian May's Live performance of Resurrection of course with Cozy Powell on Drums. It's REALLY different and really cool too. Just like Queen of how different they were in studio and live it's the same here. But it's not better than Studio, this time it's like it is something different Live but it is THE SAME as awesome as the Studio Version. Live they would make a Huge Drum solo for Cozy and also a little of Bohemian Rhapsody AND THEN going back into Resurrection. It would be cool if you check it out one day. The Video title is *_Cozy Powell with Brian May - Resurrection/Overture1812/Bohemian Rhapsody Drum Solo_* (link if you need kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqWYkpqPpayFpLc ) I Don't know why but Live Brian wouldn't do his Amazing Tap Guitar solo that we loved in this Studio Version so much, but to make up for it He Did a Longer and very fascinating different Guitar solo that we haven't heard before and it sounds just as Good. Fantastic Reaction I wouldn't have expected you going down so much in this song. But I'm really happy because now you probably understand why I wanted you to see that so much. It's an VERY VERY EPIC song. And your reaction was Perfect. Now if you are interested then Read this comment further what I'm going to put here is Brian May talking about His song Resurrection, it's really interesting. : '' _I don’t think the Resurrection video has been seen in the media very much - and certainly never in this high quality, now remastered by our brilliant team, especially for this new Brian May KZbin Channel. For me, it reminds me of an era that is almost gone from my memory; when I was convinced, following the loss of Freddie, that my destiny out there was as some kind of singing guitar hero. I poured a massive amount of energy into the track … inspired by the work of the fabulous Cozy Powell, who had thrown in his support in a massive way, propelling me forward, out of the dark place I’d found myself in after Freddie passed away._ _So the musical part of this is something I’ll always be proud of. The video is really a separate vision. I collaborated with the H-Gun team, to make a clip which took the track into a different universe … for fun and entertainment, and perhaps to tear myself further away from the real underlying pain which gave birth to the song. Cozy and I spent a day surrounded by chemical bonfires, in a film studio in LA - being hooligans and heroes and having great fun. Enjoy !_ '' - Bri Really touching Words from Brian there.
