The secret is contentment. My fiance was shocked when he took me ring shopping and he went for the big diamonds...I went for the tiniest diamond. He insisted on the bigger one. And I refused. After 28 years I still have my beautiful tiny diamond wedding ring. He released I was not in it for how valuable I am with what he buys. He then worked harder on pleasing me. He knew money and diamonds did not give me value. Or our relationship . Contentment in self and relationship. You Don need a ring.

When i have an issue with my husbands behaviour, i present it as MY problem, which it is. I ask him to assist me with that problem. I try to stay away from making the issue his "fault" or something he's done wrong. I want to address my discomfort without him feeling like I'm finding fault with him. I don't believe that there has to be someone at fault, just that i want his assistance in making it more comfortable for me. This approach has worked very well for both of us and we are stronger for it. It stops the seeds of resentment before they can even start.

@@dajuanajones5559 Sure...Ill say that i would really love to chat and could really use his help with something. Whenever that chat can take place i let him know im having trouble with something. I try not to say Im having a problem with him, his choice, his behaviour, because I think that implies the other person is doing something TO you and they just arent. I may say "Im finding it difficult to make all the meals, i was hoping you wouldnt mind helping me out with some of them." Because he isnt the one having the problem, I am. If i want the problem to be fixed, im going to need his help. This works for us though x And there is literally NO blame game. And he too has been able to do the same. We literally dont argue very often and when we do ...someone is usually not feeling well or their best self. But the other understands this, so it never escalates. Both men and women need to have their emotional and mental life straight. The expectations will either slow you down or just simply ruin it for you. If you have addictions or negative attachments then sort those out first, because the other person doesn't have the time or ability to save you from your negative past. We all got to bring something positive and useful into a relationship. Step up to the plate with inner richness and not just expectations.

While I see your point, and agree to it to an extent.. It would also mean that every person with some sort of trauma, can not look for a partner.. not even a friend actually. And this is not true.. we can. Honesty is a must, about the bad as well as the good. Both my partner and I are heavily traumatized. He has PTSD, I have C-PTSD. One might think this is a horrible match, but we find different. When I have a totally insane reaction, being triggered and I have no clue whats going on, he will see it. And when he needs a hand because he is having flashbacks and seeing images from war.,. Um fine just being there as an anchor until it passes. Due to our trauma , and being mature enough, we can draw on eachoter, rather than just drain eachother.

@@Goldenhawk583 we all have our strong and weak sides. How much we are able to give, take and handle varies from person to person and also your upbringing and experiences in life. We expect the perfect partner while we ourselves have many imperfections. We should right from the beginning expose our weak side and concerns and see how our significant other reacts to it. Emotional availability from both is a key factor to a healthy relationship. I learned that all my imperfections came from my generational past and that I have no intention to repeat the past anymore. My parents live in a screwed up relationship and they just don't see it. I faced my demons and let go of the things I loved and now my life has a whole new meaning. When I met my guy, I didn't like him at all - he was annoying and not at all my type. We agreed to just be friends. He persued me, and continued to do so for over a year before he won me over, and I decided to give him a chance. We are over the "honeymoon" phase and in to the first ever "going to get tough", and he is just amazing. Exactly like you talked about in this video. When I am loosing my cool, he is just absorbing it, and then he is like.. okay lets sit down and talk about this. When he is an idiot, he is the first one to state that he is an idiot, and then he would like to sit and talk about that. He sais all the time that he loves to learn about me, and he is facinated by my thunder, and he is always interested in what made me feel that way. He spends nearly all his free time on me. When I cross his line, he backs off- like completely off - but always with letting me know that he isn't going anywhere, and ready to talk and let me learn about HIM, when he comes back. He is investing so much in our relationship. We had our first big argument recently, and I was the worst one - which I am not proud off. But he said to me - "You know, regardless of what happens, if we are not married in the future we will at the very least be friends, because loosing you would hurt more than anything else." He is SO patient, so calm always, and so willing to put in a LOT of work, and I did know that he is a good guy - but when he said that to me, and in the way he said it. I don't really think it was till then that I actually realized just how amazing he actually is. He is definitly a keeper.

In the 5 years we have been together we have gone out to eat that is all we have ever done. But as far as I can tell that is just who he is. I have confronted on all the issues there the same ones that they have always been. But he won't change. He respects me Maybe in some ways. I don't feel like he will/would/has thought about my feelings before making a decision. Maybe from time to time. His signal are so mixed. What do you do with that. He just lives a very basic life..
