When I click on your videos I feel such an easiness coming over me like visiting an old friend...and picking up the conversation where we left it... even though I’m not talking I feel totally part of it and even “ being heard” ... I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels like it.... :)

No!! No!! You can not do that like that. In the 1st grade in 1956 during coloring time, my teacher slapped my hand, yelling Stop That Right Now, You Don't Do It Like That. She picked up a crayon and began to demonstrate, do it like this, stay inside the line! I looked at her and said, I know what I'm doing and you don't. I went back to what I was doing and have never stopped. So rebellious we artists are! Thanks Brian.

I can't begin to describe how attuned you were in this video to what I had just accomplished with my latest work. Not waste space or time, I'll just say, I have my first successful independent panting hanging in my living room. Mom had it before she died. It still has the power to stop people as it still stops me. So, here I am trying to make my way (at last) having hung around young students in school where I was the "art teacher". I make this image which is a recollection from childhood, and it arrests me- and many others too. It is the same kind of arrest I get every time you pour that coffee and invite me over to see what you're sharing. It's exhilarating to see you carving the image spaces on those surfaces. I can feel me moving in sympathetic motion. Best wishes at Forum in February.

i just started painting again (hobby) after a couple years of not putting any paint down and am so pleased to have find your site. So much thought provoking and insight that even an amateur so called artist like me can certainly learn and be inspired to be better and express our feelings more accurately in the artwork..Thank you!

I really have appreciated your videos from the beginning. My painting professor recommended your work many years ago. I was already familiar with your work. You are as enjoyable as Woody Allen. I hope to purchase a large painting one day.

I love your work man, maybe one day when I win the lottery I can own one of your beautiful pieces. I have your books (Brian Rutenberg and a Clear Seeing Place) and have thoroughly enjoyed them! Could you please tell me (a novice painter at 62 years of age) why you chose oil paint over acrylic for your work? .... thanks and please keep sharing the awesome videos!

Briefly, I was in Chicago around 1986. There in an impressionist show were three huge paintings of Monet' Haystacks. Located in one room, each on its own wall it was breathtaking. I've been searching for these paintings ever since and have been told by all of my art friends (and my husband) that they only existed in my mind. However, several years ago I made a trip through Chicago and went to the art institute and met a guard who confirmed my memory as that had been his first year at the Art Institute and he had guarded that show. Where did those paintings go when that show was over? If you have any info, I would be ever so grateful. I'm not an artist but...... I Love your videos. They calm me down. Just the sound of your voice is mesmerizing.

One can have great Style, one can have a great technique, but when one has great style and technique that are unique to one, it can speak for itself as not to copy ones Style and or technique.

Brian should I just do it or should I just say no, knowing when to say when time and time again, less is more, more or less, this keeps me confused to the point where I keep looking for it all. We've all heard beauty is in the eye of the beholder but we may only be hold a small amount of beauty but it is beauty more or less.
