Had the Bears drafted either Watson or Mahomes, my guess is that they start immediately, they win enough to save Fox's job, and the Bears continue their life mired in mediocrity. That is not to say that it may not have eventually worked out better, I just make the point that one player does not rectify other dysfunctions on a team. Fans often think that had the Bears drafted Watson or Mahomes, their troubles would have been over. The truth is that none of this stuff happens in a vacuum. Those guys still would have been behind Glennon because he was already there, would have been playing for a run first, old school coach, and would have had NO weapons to throw to. The perfect recipe to stunt a QB's growth. And we wonder why Trubisky has struggled.

Thank you Urlacher! The Bears gave up the fewest points in the NFC, 4th fewest in the league. With a decent qb, they would have given up the fewest in the league. Also, the Bears went 8-8 last year and lost 6 games by less than 10 points if I remember correctly. The defense got better. With Foles we have a Jim McMahon type that’s not going to be great, but is going to be good. O-Line and Nagys play calling are the concerns, but the bears are going to win at least 10 games this year.

It took wins over Sean Mannion, David Blough, Jeff Driskel, Daniel Jones, Joe Flacco, and Case Keenum to get the Bears to a respectable record last year. Injuries change everything but the appearance of Watson, Ryan, Brady, Brees, Rivers, Rodger x2, Stafford x2, etc on the schedule should mean the Bears having a middling offense might not be enough.

As a Vikings guys, Urlacher was a monster and a constant headache in the NFC north. He has a lot of insight defensively and probably at some point would like to coach/mentor younger players. Good to see he's in good health. What I don't like is the analysts chick calling him "Ryan". Other than that, the bears are screwed. The Packers also have a QB dilemma developing and the lions, well are there lions... So Minnesota, let's get it gone this year. SKOL!

As a qb, either you keep defenders scared, or you motivate them knowing they could make good stats off of playing against you...when a qb gives off high defense stats vibes, his career is over. I believe it's not always a quarterback issues that the Bear had. It's their FANS including the media who puts a lot of pressure on their Quarterback. Specially for a new Quarterback on his first game after making a simple mistake, the next day you will hear a lot of negative comments from the media, FANS. This is how they hyped their loss. Instead of giving the guy support to up his confidence, they will destroy it. Having a very good Quarterback is not a guarantee, it's a team sport. So don't put all the blame on the Quarterback. Getting a Superbowl ring is destiny. Don't expect too much! if it comes....it comes....if not....then, there's still another year.
