The old seasons are not this masterpiece of comedy that some people like to claim they are. A lot of the episodes are pretty boring and it has the same issue as the newer seasons where the show doesnt stick to a story and just exists to string together as many cutaway gags and pop culture references as possible, a lot of which are hit or miss. Only a few episodes of the older seasons are actually pretty good and the characters are more likeable overall than their newer counterparts but the show has never been this amazing feat in comedy.

I still think Brian was the subject of genetic experiments a la' _The Secret of NIMH_ .
