*This is awesome, can I ask why not a straight lead punch instead of a jab? Because I know that in most classes they do straight lead + cross + hook as the first basic combination. I know jabs are also used, but they're not considered as effective with the first hit, compared to the straight lead which is stronger because you use your hip and shoulder too. Love this exercise and I hope you'll do more like these with footwork and combinations. Thanks*

Glad you like the video. You could swap the jab for a straight lead. I did straight leads when I was young and as I started sparring with guys who were better at boxing I found the jab to be more agile, less committed in case they parried and countered, I could double it up, I could jab and then hook. The straight lead is still a great punch. In fact one of my favs in MMA was to do a false jab that stopped short, my opponent would go to parry and if I noticed that they would over swat at the jab then I would fire off a straight lead from where I had stopped my jab so that I had a harder punch than just completing the jab. Its kind of like when Bruce said, (I'm paraphrasing) before I studied the arts a punch was just a punch, then each punch was done in this way, and once I mastered the arts a punch was just a punch. So really at any time a jab or a straight lead can be swapped out depending on what you need that punch to do for you. Thanks again for the wonderful comments and questions.

Are you left handed?

Right handed. I prefer a southpaw lead but I train both leads so I can use either.
