Also the v-reversal mechanic makes the countdown for stun recovery faster, it only takes about a second to start recovering

For me as a person that watches a ton of fighting games and wants to get into them more than just mashing against friends this was incredibly helpful. I didn't even KNOW that V-Reversal reduced stun just from activation, or they had different inputs. I would have assumed they were all the same jumped into trials learned a combo or two and hopped online. This gave me a lot more appreciation for SFV defensive mechanics.

Part of it due to not really bothering to play semi seriously until a few months ago, the other being I just don't have the kind of brain to perform the input in the moment. I just can never get it right lol. V-shift is epic though

V Shift is bad in the corner? Very. However, for characters that don't have that knockdown V Reversal, V-Break can provide that. Definitely varies on the character used and the match-up but it certainly another option to be wary of. Nice informative video that gets my thumb of approval.

I have an idea of video you could try to do but it requires some organization with chat. What if you play chess against someone else but pieces, at least towers, fools, horsemen, the queen and the king (probably the chess player himself) are viewers ready to fight and die on the battlefield. Little details that I would add: -if a player get attacked by an other player, but won the match, it will not elimate the attacker, and so still in danger in the next turn. -However, a new rule could be that if the defenser won and had also the attacker in sight, he has the choice to stay and spare him or to eleminate him and take his place. Example: if 2 fools are in sight of each other, and the defenser win, he gets to choose. But if it was a fool attacking a tower but the tower win, the tower has no way to counter-attack back and can only wait. Soldiers could be considered as CPU (set their difficulty before the match). So the strategy would be to try to attack other pieces regarding their weaknesses, in order to reduces the risk of losing players after attempting an assault It has to be known that choosing to eliminate and take the attacker's place would not cost your turn, so you could choose to counter-attack and get also to play your turn just after. -If you're crazy enough, as long as an attacker piece win against other players pieces, you get a turn to play the winner's piece again (basically, if the queen is played with a really good player, you could move and eliminate enemy's player as long as he wins and could go for a rampage by himself). -If there's double KO...I don't know. Before writing this comment, I try to search something about that and find nothing beside Street fighter vs Chess and a shirtless man...

@k Collins it’s not a matter of difficulty in figuring it out case-by-case it’s just a fairly overwhelming amount of knowledge to need to play the game using the universal tools you’re given. Imagine if you had to lab every normal in the game to be able to block; that’s what this feels like. You have to know frame data for almost every move of every character to use these tools reliably.

The fact that you need to spend resources just for taking a breath from characters that are always plus, -2, -1 and are still sticked to your ass after that is not what most people would call STRONG. The defense mechanics in this game are a joke, but I play Cammy, so I'm actually laughing at that joke.

95% of characters in this game need to spend resources to put themselves in the advantageous situation you’re talking about. They’re either taking a risk by dashing forward, jumping, or using some other reactable forward moving option, OR they’re spending meter on something like EX Dash Straight. Therefore, in almost all situations where the opponent is pressuring you, you either let it happen, and deserve to have to deal with the mixup, or they used a resource to create that situation, in which case spending a resource of your own to get out of the situation seems fine to me.
