Thank you for making the recipes easier to do. This helps me so much since I am disabled and can’t do everything from scratch like I used to. One thing I never skip is putting my turkey in brine and you gave me a delicious recipe to try. Thank you for all the hard work you put in everything you do, even when it’s very tiring carrying a little one inside of you. Keep up the good work and I ask you all for prayers since my husband got covid and almost died on me. He is recuperating but now my son and I have covid. I took care of my husband while he was severely ill. Please stay safe and God bless you all.

One tip is to make your gravy in the roasting pan on the stove once you remove the turkey, so you save yourself a pan 😊
@nemahmah21434 жыл бұрын
I've always brined my turkey. For years, I used a bucket but I have switched to using 2 Ziploc brand XL storage bags. These are the bags suggested for storage of coats and it has a picture of sports equipment on the front. I believe the volume is 10 gallons. I rinse two with vinegar first (just in case) and then water to get the vinegar residue out. I then double bag and insert the turkey. I pour the brine over top (yes this may require 2 people) and then cinch the bags up tight so the bird is fully submerged in liquid. I find these bags to be bigger and more durable. No turning of bird to ensure full flavor and no chance of it getting too warm or the dog finding the bucket (had a neighbor have that happen once). With the bird cinched up in bag, it's easier to store on a rimmed baking sheet in the refrigerator. I have found these bags in the sandwich bag section at my local Walmart. And I always buy double the amount I'm going to need just in case I get a weak seal or a bag does happen to rip. I also buy the 9x13 aluminum baking pans and matching lids at Sams Club for my sides and for guest doggy bags. I too cook for 30-40 people, all family, and I usually send leftovers home with them. The singles and college kids really appreciate it. Listen to me....37 and talking about 20 somethings like they're kids!!!

This video is sooooo helpful. Thank you so much. One thing that I do that saves me time is that I prep my chopped onions and celery a week or 2 before. I use a vacuum seal drawer and will chop all of the celery and onions that I will need for all of my dishes and then place them in the fridge. They can stay this way for up to a month. Really saves time when you are preparing all of your side dishes.

A full Thanksgiving meal is actually the first thing I learned to cook. We make our stuffing the night before and then moisten it in the am with chicken stock. I run a little olive oil on the skin along with the butter because it gives it a nice brown skin. Thankfully My mom taught me all of her recipes because she threw her back out 8am Thanksgiving Day and my sister and I had to take over. My sister loves to bake but it was hysterical because I went to show her how to clean out the Turkey and she saw the neck and other parts shoved in there and got so grossed out , she wouldn’t touch it again LOL. Funny thing is, I don’t actually like Turkey very much! It’s all about the sides for me 😂
