To all of the pencil pushing federal agents who suck at life…. Brian is our teacher, leave him and the hobby alone. Radio control airplanes weren’t a problem until they made drones so easy to fly that any idiot with a couple bucks can fly one and get great footage of a commercial airliner while it’s landing because that’s what smart people do. Leave the hobby alone and stop messing with the people that aren’t harming anyone. Seriously though you have taught me how to set up my radio and understand what I’m doing. Camera crew is truly the best on KZbin without question. Keep it up you two.

I'm STILL in the learning process. After some 20 years of absence from the sport, model RC flying is back in my life. Now it's so very many ways different than before. Brian, thanks for helping me learn how to take advantage of the new technology available now as compared to the simple systems of the distant past.

Hey folks! I do learn a great deal from your videos. While this airplane is more advanced than I am still seeing your assembly and radio setup (I use a NX8 myself) is very helpful. I will say I stand in awe of your flying skills as well as your knowledge of RC aircraft. I flew for about 16,000 hours during my flying career and now that I'm fully retired (not by choice - thank you FAA) I turned to RC flying to "get my fix." There is so much to learn and you have contributed greatly to my RC education. Great production values as well. That model you hire to be your "camera crew" is absolutely bonkers with the camera! I'm married to a career educator and know the challenges that present Thank you both for your awesome work!

I have just bought one of these Hawks after seeing it fly at the best UK Model Show these days - Weston Park. Your channel is usually one of my first ports of call when I get a new model - love your videos, keep up the good work fellah 👍 At 6:02 & 12:26 - you ask if that's a fuel tank, it's not.... it's the modification that the Red Arrows had done to their Hawks to give them them ability to make smoke during their displays. At 12:43 - that is a pitot tube 👍 At 13:39 - you may not like them but the colours of the canopy are as per the full size, sorry At 34:04 - they are wing fences, strakes are on the fuselage like your dorsal fins at 28:25 and cause a vortex; wing fences are to stop air flow along the wing causing tip-stalling

Tanks? Modified tanks - Nice! At 13:39 - you may not like them but the colours of the canopy are as per the full size, sorry - I mean the RED didn't quite MATCH the color of the body as well as they do on some planes...I love the red color, just not the slight mismatch. At 34:04 - they are wing fences, strakes are on the fuselage like your dorsal fins at 28:25 and cause a vortex; wing fences are to stop air flow along the wing causing tip-stalling - Dang it! I guess I missed that, and the fence always gets me!!!! Sorry about that one & thanks for time stamps, makes it easy for me to reply to your comments!!! We will keep up the good work ;) Glad you're here with us!!!

Great educational videos Brian & cc. Your invaluable instruction on the Eflite Spitfire 1.2m (probably 6 year plus old video) was the reason I got the nerve up to get that model in the air (second ever model after the tame Hobbyzone Carbon Cub). Also your reasoning for receiver selection and detailed radio set-up has been invaluable and I am fairly proficient with this process and have the bravery to play with settings only because of you. I have viewed most of your videos because they are so addictive and now have several models off the back of these (Eflite P51-June night 1.2m, Eflite F4U Corsair 1.2m, etc) and will very likely get this Hawk. It will be my first jet but I have a good deal of warbird experience now so I should be able to pull it off! It's a shame that Motion RC won't work with you as when combined with AS3X, they also have great planes. I have the 1.6m Flightline Spitfire and would never have got this if I hadn't been able to set it up in forward programming with the AR637T receiver, again something you gave me the tools to do. Great videos Brian & cc. Long may they last. I'm enjoying the lake construction progress and am looking forward to this next stage in your progression. Keep up the excellent work!

Matt Miller nailed it with his comment. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Brian Phillips RC is the best in the business. At 64 years of age, and getting back into flying RC planes, Brian has cut my learning curve in half. As for the FMS BAE HAWK, another great plane. I love the planes I own by FMS.

Guys, I have learned some valuable video production techniques from camera crew as well as learning the value of production value from you Brian. I can't stress enough how educational your channel has been and just how much I have learned. It has been very fun being educated by you and camera crew. Also the education I have received on flying in a tree wrapped environment has really had an amazing impact on my RC flying education. Thank you and your entire team!

Our pleasure, and thank you for sharing about your experience. We're honored to be a part of helping people get into or just to get a little more out of the hobby, or both. Educating the "next" generation of RC enthusiast is such a big part of what we do here, and we wanted to make this a bit of a showcase, just in case there's ever a time we need to point to an example ;) But we realize you and others like you have been with us for this specific reason, and really glad we could be a part of your story! (P.S. Looks like your comment duplicated...I deleted the duplicate...this happens from time to time, but nothing you did wrong - it's a glitch, and didn't want you to think I was upset with you - I'm not)

Hi Brian, what a great time to review this aircraft in Red Arrows markings , flown by our UK top pilots . thats a wing fence not a vortex generator - it will produce vortices at the aileron but the primary function is to manage span-wise flow - I installed stall strips on the leading edges and secondary fences inboard (which later models of Hawk incorporated too) for a much much better handling bird in low speeds and high angles of attack - the full size Hawk does also have a row of VG's outboard on the wing

@Samlairson
@Samlairson Жыл бұрын
Not a strake. It is a stall fence. The stall will begin from the root and travel towards the wing tips. This fence helps to keep the ailerons effective at slow airspeeds to increase control.

Just got mine put together. Ripped out the reflex and just put an ar630 I had in it. I didnt even have to skewer my canopy! Lol. The top tip of the vertical stabilizer was crushed and bent a little out of the box. Most wouldn't notice. Ive yet to get a foamie that didnt have imperfections out of the box though. They are meant to fly not look at. Although I enjoy doing both.

Thanks for the education on flap deployment and why you don't want to go 100 or 150% on servo throws! Is that just a Spectrum thing? (My main radio is Open TX, RadioMaster TX16S) Now, wish FMS would sell this one in a 50 or 64mm size and 4S! Also, my son watches with me and he wants to be a pilot one day and aviation or robotic engineer. I wanted to fly Tomcats as a young lad, then my eyes went to crap.

150% is usually okay on FMS, but not sure if that's a Spektrum thing, or if it will carry over to other offerings, such as OpenTX choices. 64mm would be SWEET! Love this beauty! P.S. - BAE Hawk bit.ly/3pSmp4v (Arrows 50mm EDF ;)

BAE Hawk. The F-86 has some gorgeous details, but the 80mm BAE Hawk has more of an everyday flyer feel to it. The F-86 is just a big plane too, if storage is a consideration.

So much educational content from you guys over the 2 or 3 years I have been a subscriber! Another great presentation from you Brian and so beautifully filmed by the incredible Camera Crew! One thing I might have missed was the positioning of the diversity antennae. You taped one antenna facing forward but the one going toward the tail of the aircraft was hard to see. Is it at 90 degrees or did you lay it back towards the tail (which would make it 180 degrees to the front facing one)? Not a criticism, just could not quite see in there. Thank you for all you do for our great hobby/sport!

I was just about to pull the trigger on the Freewing T1 Hawk 70mm from Motion RC until Brian pulled this one out of the bag. Now I'm not sure what to go for. It's gonna be my first 6S jet. The FMS is more expensive but it looks to be better quality than the Freewing and man it sounds really good!! I fly off grass too and that FMS was handling the grass really well. The Freewing's nose gear has a reputation for being flimsy. What should I go for? Freewing T1 Hawk 70mm or FMS BAE Hawk 80mm?
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC Жыл бұрын
Craig - I'd be lying if I said this was in fact better...I can't say, since I haven't had any experience with the Freewing. That being said, this one is BETTER in specs, by a lot too...80mm edf's are bigger and more powerful. As you could see, the power to weight ratio is amazing on this plane, and she is gorgeous. Also, you'll not get a stabilizer included with the Freewing (unless I'm mistaken), so to be honest, I want to say "This one" but that's my no-bs answer you've come to expect. This plane will not disappoint. Grass ops are going to be harder on some of these jets, no matter the brand, but TYPICALLY bigger planes fair better. Good luck with your decision, and I hope you choose THIS FMS - it is great! BAE Hawk bit.ly/3q8fjJB
@83zoso
@83zoso Жыл бұрын
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yeah I wouldn't get a stabilizer with the Freewing. My original plan was to put an AR630 in the Freewing and set up Safe/AS3X. But if I bought the FMS I could follow your video and set it up exactly as you did. I've done that before with previous planes and they always fly great if I follow your instructions. Thanks for the reply and for taking the time to help us all out. You're the best! I'm going to go for the FMS!!
